Is the game being rushed again? BTB and Forge are delayed. Discs wont be ready for shipping.

It's not delayed. Nor are the discs. It's rolling out according to the current sustain plan and no other dates were ever mentioned. But your genuine concern is noted.

They have a huge ass campaign, Arena, and the new Warzone mode. Those alone are already good, and BTB and forge are coming very shortly after launch, plus we are getting 15 maps for free after launch.

It sucks they can't all be in at launch, but hey, it's coming soon™.

That's some god damn bullshit. The game is seriously lacking in features.

Edit: I mean relative to past Halo games.

Please note the Community Cartographer team used a development version of Forge. Certain functions were not yet included in this build so i am not able to comment on some features.

Trait Zones
Gravity Volumes
Game Modes (other than Breakout, Flag, and Slayer which are covered elsewhere)
Weapons and Skins
Vehicles, other than the standard set

Man this looks awesome. The biggest problem I had with Forge was the maps looked samey, now it looks like there are enough options for that to not be the case.

Adding colors seems like such a minor thing but it's really something that adds so much more personality to maps.

not to mention tweaking surface reflection values... should make maps forge maps far more visually unique and attractive than was possible before.

Yes! Extensive options which are applied with labels so you can change entire groups of objects at once.

Three questions I can think of off the top of my head:

- Regarding the "finishes" of objects, is it a binary matte / metallic toggle or are there more than two options? I'm not asking on an item-by-item basis, but rather what's the maximum number of finishes an object might have? e.g. a Covenant crate having matte, swords of sanghelios, covenant, heretic etc. finishes to choose from.

- Can you use the scripting abilities to change the greater lighting theme? With the three canvases having three lighting themes each, I was curious as to whether or not you could set up an event where you, say, punch a traffic cone and Space goes from the Installation 04 lighting theme to the Installation 07 lighting theme.

- Do destructible objects make a return beyond explosives, such as palettes and crates? If so, are there more than the ones that have appeared in past games, particularly Halo 3 and Reach?

Again? Has this game been released before?

Never been too interested in forge myself, but this looks like a big improvement. I'll never build a map, but hopefully I'll play some good fan created ones.

Delaying features because they are not ready is the EXACT OPPOSITE of rushing games... And discs not ready for shipping? They have announced LE/LCE disc swapping starts on October 20th.

Those Wind options in the Map Options box on the right. Think it'll just be environment stuff like leaves or snow, or actual effects on player and object movement?

I was trying to show him your post to see if he could answer.

Scripting Redux – Almost every object in the new Forge can be scripted to move around, change colors, send event messages to other objects, spawn itself, and all kinds of other fun things. Objects can have up to four scripts that with a condition that will trigger an action when the event conditions are met. We even include a “logic switch” condition type that can wait for multiple conditions to be met before the action is triggered. It’s all super powerful and we can’t wait to see the crazy ways it gets used by the community.

Nice. Water maybe, trees, flags, dust, snow possibly.

I absolutely love the sound of wind in the environment blowing through. Even better if you get some dust, snow to give the levels some life.
 
Looks amazing. Everything I've ever wanted. I'm so happy right now.

To be honest, the late launch is a good thing.

Gives people time to get used to what the game can do as a player, before you start designing playspaces. My mind is blown.

Hyped. This is going to eat my life.

I'll probably never make anything with it, but I would be psyched to have a matchmaking list with custom maps. The color change seems like a simple detail, but it adds a lot personality.

You could even do the disappearing/reappearing blocks from the Mega Man games. Shit, you could probably even make the blocks change color half a second before they disappear. There is so much potential here it's mind-boggling.

Depending on how far and precise you can move objects, this also allows for easy creation of things like elevators - just weld a box together and script doors that open and close.

Also, i'm calling the idea right now: add in a map hazard / on-map button to control defenses in Objective gametypes, e.g. prime a snare so that if the enemy makes it to your base, the flag starts running away to a fallback position.
