Rumor: Dissidia Final Fantasy coming to Arcade in November (NEXT MONTH!!!)

The original Dissidia interface wasn't exactly minimalist, but damn this looks HIDEOUS. All those bars is taking like 2/3 of the screen, I can't see shit.

Still very excited for the game though, since it will look much better in motion. Too bad it's way too far until we can play it :/

Me and Intelliheath have been talking about characters that were considered for the first two games that never made it. Here's the list of what we found so far (excluding characters that made it into Duodecim):

Dissidia:
Locke (VI)
Seifer (VIII)
Seymour (X)
Balthier (XII)

Duodecim:
Zack (VII/Crisis Core)
Eald'Narche (XI) or Kam'Lanaut (XI)

So this could be a few characters that we could see added. Also for characters not considered I can see Noctis being a DLC character in 2017 (give FFXV some time to not be too new) as well as Ace from Type-0 in the core roster.

I think Zack and Seifer, despite their popularity, might still not make it in due to the reason behind their original exclusion having more to do with their functionality and moveset potential; compared to the VII/I characters that did make it in (Tifa and Ultimecia). As long as there are still popular characters from those games with far greater potential to distinguish themselves among a 50+ cast, I don't think they'll return to those choices.

It's utterly hideous. I hope it's only for the arcade release and the console version will either be less bile-inducing from the outset or have options to resize/hide things; otherwise the lack of a PC version really will be acutely felt. It's a shame, since it really isn't a bad-looking game underneath it.

There's a scan floating around and it has the new designs for Shiva and Ramuh.

There is a translation out there. Credit to IceTea7!

Here's a summary:

-There are 4 types Heavy, Shoot, Speed and Unique.

-Each character has 1 HP attack at first but learns more as you level up.

-Heavy's main characteristic is a wide attack radius. Speed is high mobility. Shoot is having long range attacks. Unique is somebody that doesn't belong to the above.

-Firion is a heavy-type who specializes in ground attacks. His combo system from 012 is expanded and now has a 3rd attack with 3 variations. Only has one air attack which is Sword Blow. HP Attack is Lord of Arms and EX skill is Blood Weapon.

-Cecil is a Heavy-type who can switch between Paladin and Dark Knight. Paladin is a Heavy-Speed hybrid and DK is a Heavy-Shoot hybrid. His EX is Job change, when it's used he gains extra stats for brief period of time. Paladin has 3 air braves and one ground. DK has 3 ground and 1 air.

-Bartz is a Unique-type Job Master, each move represents a job. He is late-game type character comparable to late-game carries from MOBA and RTS games. His early game is weak but as he masters his jobs (by using a move repetitively) the move is upgraded and he gains a special buff(i.e Dragoon's buff is Defence Up), HP attack doesn't give a buff. His Jobs are Monk, Dragoon, Black Mage, Mystic Knight, Blue Mage, Hunter, Ninja and Samurai. EX Skill is Lucky Charm(?) and gives his buffs to his allies.

-All summons have a bonus effect. Ifrit is Attack up, Shiva is Base Brave Up and Ramuh is EX Skill Recharge up.

Previously announced character's balance changes and director comments:

-WoL's EX Skill is no longer global, has a limited range. Shield of Light stuns opponent when guarding a brave attack.

-OK's type change to Unique instead of Speed. The closer he is to the enemy when using a physical attack the more his EX gauge fills. Vice-versa for magic. This concept was planned for the first Dissidia but wasn't implemented apparently.

-Terra voice is based on her personality after fighting Phunbaba.

-Cloud is strong in separating an enemy from his group and fighting them 1v1. His charge can be dodge cancelled now.

-As opposed to OK, Lightning is still a speed type.

-Y'shtola's specialises in supporting her allies and her spells have a bonus effects other than damage as in FFXIV. Aero applies a DoT, Stone applies a slow and Blizzara binds the enemy. She can heal her allies too apparently.

I'm loving the concept of those Bartz changes. Hopefully this means Bartz loses Holy as a move, too. Also I didn't bother with World of Ruin in FF6, does Terra stop being a mopey piece of shit after that fight?

That is seriously what I wanted Bartz to be and was imagining him as before he was announced in Dissidia.

Yeah, but then again she does not have very many more lines past this point haha.

Yep, that's right. I think that's when she become more stronger with her personality.

Thanks for the translations!

Firion sounds really fun. Bartz sounds pretty cool too.

Still interesting to see that leveling up still gives you skills like HP attacks. They probably plan on keeping the RPG elements then (maybe more on the console version).

Please don't bomb =X

edit: just saw Ramuh and Shiva.

They look cool. Shiva looks really good. Ramuh is cool, but definitely not my favorite design (I like the color scheme though).

Wonder how the leveling mechanics work. Sounds like something meant to be used with a card system most arcades use.

But in any case, the character types sound interesting enough. And all the best to Ms. Branford! They can only do so much with her, pre or post Phunbaba, anyway!

Yeah, they said it before I think.

I wonder if they have a mode for people to play with characters with all moves though. I don't understand the Japanese arcade scene, but I don't think progression through cards only would be a good idea =X

I see Zell support and I'm all for it. Plus give me Rinoa because her fighting style would be amazing.

Honestly I can see Seifer being a lot easier to fit in than Zack. Seifer design wise stands out as different, his weapon is different, his fighting style is different(meaning they'll need to fix Squall back to his two handed fighting style while Seifer takes back the one handed quick hits) and he has a focus on fire type magic. He also has the possibility of fitting in things like Edea or Raijin and Fuujin for attacks or even borrowing some of their move sets.

Zack has CC but overall him and Cloud are very identical in most aspects.

Nice to see those Onion Knight tweaks, that Y'Shtola can heal (although it's weird that Lightning apparently will lose a third of her game's abilities since she won't...) and that a lot of design principles from the previous games still stand, like Firion's focus on the ground game.
Bartz taking his time to become a powerhouse from mastering his abilities is even more consistent with his original self, so that's a nice touch, but I hope he doesn't start out completely useless early on.

I'd rather see Mash/Sabin over Zell though - the full range of his abilities might have been overkill in the prior Dissidias (and resemble Cloud of Darkness'a bit), but with a bigger field to play with a multiple targets plus allies he could be a really nice fit for this system, especially that one ability of his to heal allies, Chakra/Mantra.

Between the two, Seifer would seem to be more easily differentiated, but since Zack's the more popular character and Squall appears to have retained his one-handed moves from the first Dissidia in what we've seen so far; I think they'd still remain equally unlikely.

Besides, Quistis and Rinoa would be the better VIII choices, anyway.

Totally agreed. How are we expected to see the beautiful models and action when we have these menus and bars all over our eyes?!

I'm a bit skeptical of the matter, myself. I mean, it's one thing for the player who's obviously playing the game more and bothered to actually learn it is going to have the advantage of experience on their side. But making for even more of an uphill battle for new players or those who just don't have the time to play as much? The only other option I could see is if they incorporated P2W mechanics for those who want to have access to a maxed out character, immediately.

We can only wait and see, though.

I hope the Round 1 at Puente Hills mall gets this. They seem to get everything nearly at the same time as they do in Japan.

Hail, peons, for I have come as ambassador from the great and bountiful Blueberry Butt Explosion
Oh sweet, I'm definitely going to have to hunt down a few cabinets when this hits arcades in November.

I loooooved Dissidia.

Did they abandon the arcade graphics? Ever since they had shown the video comparison of the arcade and PS4 graphics all screenshots released afterwards have only used the PS4 graphics. It's not that big of a deal to me since I'll never be able to play the arcade version but I'm just wondering what happened with that.

Console version's UI won't look like that. Part of the reason the UI is so big is because it's touch screen, so you need it big to press it easily.

It also doesn't help the overall UI style is really ugly.

That will likely be its biggest problem. Team Ninja needs to take a few more notes from ByKing (Gundam Vs., Gunslinger Stratos) on what makes for a functional, but still good looking HUD.

Believes Dragon Quest is a franchise managed by Sony
Dose character models. Considering PS4 is the lead platform for this game, i can't wait to see what FF7R looks like with PS4 as lead platform.

Its gonna blow people's faces off i'm guessing
