Nintendo Strategy Briefing 2015 thread (Nintendo discusses smartphone title Miitomo)

GUYS! I was looking at the slides from the presentation and look at Link on the slide on page 4. That pose remind you of a certain Gamecube/Wii game ;)

Weird for me... I'm about to leave a Nintendo thread completely devoid of any emotion. Neutral. I have achieved complete peace and clarity. :)

Yo, going back to them talking about being able to transfer data between mobile phones and consoles, if they make it so you can Streetpass people with just your phone then that would be awesome.

It's almost 2 perfect. But I doubt they'd do that

That's actually quite the opposite, mobile fans in their 20's have been dying for Nintendo to get on the mobile space forever

The problem is those people keep wrongly expecting Nintendo to put it's hand held games on mobile and that's not happening. They aren't going to be getting Mario platformer, etc. Nintendo has said as much over and over again. Yet people keep thinking it's going to happen and then they'll get made over something they were told wasn't going to happen.

Seriously who likes miis? I don't know anyone that cares about them. I'm not in the 3-11 age market they are probably looking at though.
A shitload of people. And not in the 3-11 age market you're talking about. There is a picture in this thread showing a game that showcases Mii's that sold over four million copies.

Like, you have to be living under a rock to not know that Mii's are one of Nintendo's most popular creations since they came out.

This is being made by a core team within the company. It's definitely being taken seriously.

Eh somewhat. Read everything thats coming out right now. The most surprising thing to me out of this is how little Nintendo themselves seem to be focusing on Mobile. Sounds like NX is the main priority for the company

Holy shit indeed!! Is the actual new render of Link we've been very intrigued since the rumor of TPHD! First time we see him full body. This is the real megaton of todays presentation.

Shinya Takahashi of Nintendo EPD basically confirmed its an internal title. Nintendo just reorganized its entire internal division and mentioned Mobile and Dedicated Game System as their main objectives.

This is definitely Sakamoto's team (now inside Nintendo EPD).

Tomodachi is an amazing choice for a mobile phone game: if it managed to become as popular as it did as a full price 3DS retail game then it's sure to do brilliantly as a cheap/free to download game.

The 3DS game is charming and hilarious.

Sure, but they're still developing these mobile games themselves, with help from DeNA.

NX is likely their bigger focus though, no doubt.

So yeah, they made a game centered on Japan first. It looks like a promising attempt for that market. I thought people didn't want to play the big IPs on phones?

Things like Wario Ware is gonna have far less appeal to the Japanese market than something similar to Tomodatchi.

Senior Managing Director Shigeru Miyamoto says DeNA will help operate the smartphone games, while Nintendo will focus on ways to guide users to its hardware.
The five smartphone apps won’t soon comprise half of sales, Mr. Kimishima says. Nintendo’s goal is to use smart devices to increase the value of its IP, which will help sales of both software and hardware, he says.

"Oh boy, those F2P Mario and Kirby games made that subway trip fly by! I sure would love to spend $200 on new hardware so I can play $60 games featuring those characters!"

I'm not sure how much they actually believe this and how much of this is spin meant to exude confidence in the future of their hardware business, but either way, it's delusional nonsense.

Right strategy that was already announce by Iwata. Will be interesting to see NX details in the January investors meeting.

Ask the right questions, investors! Like, Twilight Princess HD? Working with Platinum some more? And... and...
Yeah, those questions! (please, that would be nice of you)

Ya, the Link picture is small but if I remember correctly, the Link picture in the store displays had his Master Sword sheathed on his back which caused some doubt, but this all but confirms TPHD now that the pose is EXACTLY like that original TP art of Link holding the sword.

On the reason for the delay of the smartphone app, Mr. Kimishima says, is the need for more lead time to fully promote and explain Miitomo. The company is busy promoting other titles in the pipeline right now, he says. It will start promoting Miitomo after the year-end holiday season. Says this will have little impact on earnings.

People like the game, not the Miis themselves. I don't know anyone that likes that Miis.

Well they're probably not going to just make Mario and Kirby platformers for cell phones. This is kind of like saying that no one is going to buy Fallout 4 because Fallout Shelter exist.
