Hopefully someone has a comparison by Tuesday. I planned on getting it for PS4 but if the Xbox version is better and includes Fallout 3 then I will geab that instead.

Looks perfectly fine to me and you couldnt get through the hole at first because you had to crouch lol,not because of the framerate...I swear sometimes...

Isn't that the slow motion perk, eagle eye or something?

Seeing the responses to this, it really seems like something I should be able to see, but I don't. Is it clearer when playing than it is when watching a video? Are my eyes just that bad? I'm starting to think this is the case, but if it's something else, I don't know what it could possibly be.

There is a dip for sure but nothing as doom and gloom this thread is making it out to be.

I would have thought that people would have figured out by now that Bethesda only put any kind of real effort into the DirectX implementation of their game engine?

Their games will always run decent enough on PC and Xbox (if we ignore the typical hilarious bugs), but they never gave a shit about making sure their games perform well on Playstation, and never will...

This is clearly an unplayable frame rate! In your time with game would you say this a consistent issue, or something limited to a few specific situations?

just to clarify ... ps4 + day-1 patch obviously

to be fair... it wasn't that bad for me very often. there were other outdoor-sniping-fights where the framerate remained relatively stable.
also i didn't encountered many of those indoor-drops kenzo mentioned.

though i must say, that the game does not feel like a smooth experience in general, unfortunately... and looking at the kinda dated visuals, it's really a little mindblowing the game doesn't run better... i really hope some of this stuff gets patched out in the future.

but i also want to add that the game is a lot of fun and i see myself putting in a lot of hours... hopefully with a better performance in the future =/

This is a Fallout game
War never changes

haha^^

I don't see why this is an issue. Most people don't even notice if the framerate in a game is 60, 30 or 20. It's just another reason to complain. Internet hate culture is really starting to annoy me. Do you know how big Fallout 4 is? You can enter a ton of houses. No loading screens. I'm not surprised the framerate dips a little under 30 on consoles. This game is even bigger than Skyrim. At least give it a chance.

This obsession with framerate in a game is getting out of hand. You have developers like Miyazaki openly stating they don't give a fuck about frames per second, but people still complain. Remember Blighttown? The framerate changed that entire area. It added to the challenge. It was a clever way to manipulate the technology and use it to change the rules. But do you think people appreciated it? Naw, they'd rather complain. On PC, people even went as far as casualizing that entire area by making it run at 60 frames per second.

Honestly, people don't really care about the framerate. If it was 60, they'd find another reason to complain. I bet most of you won't even play it on PS4, so why complain? Just play it on pc and install one of those japanese waifu mods and change all the enemies into pikachus or something. jesus christ...

Don't really see a problem with most of the videos posted in this thread.

And I'm the one who predicted 75 metacritic.

Bullet time perk?

...it was not in slow motion...that's the problem - the moving in and out of scope left the player with vats as the only option as with the janky frames they couldn't aim as the dog was not moving in a fluid movement to reveal its animations.

Nothing there was slow mo. I mean you can see that.

The video in OP didn't look horrible to me, but the sniping one is pretty bad. I don't think it's anything they can't fix with a patch, but if you're sensitive to fps drops it just seems smarter to wait for Bethesda to resolve performance issues before buying.

If I only owned a PS4, I'd definitely wait.

Came to post this. After reading the OP I expected a slideshow, instead I picked up a slight stutter once... I think.

The scope video was bad though, not being able to pull off a sniper shot because of bad framerate would be very frustrating.

I'll wait for a month or so until it has gotten a few patches.

Good stuff.

Edit: All the role-playing posts killed me. This thread has been fantastic.

Jokes are flying over head.

The only thing that is hilarious is your inability to understand that different people have different tolerance levels for these things. I played Bloodborne and TLOU which had worse framerate drops than this without a problem. Like I said occasional drops like this are okay and will not prevent me from playing the game if it is mechanically competent.

It is not like I am a huge fan of Bethesda's trekking simulators with piss poor mechanics so please keep your lame accusations to yourself.

The antagonism of the people in this thread is ridiculous. Who cares of people don't care about fps drops?

But that scope is still pretty awful...

Sometimes I am not sure which posts on GAF are joke posts and which arent.

How's the pop in? That hurt my enjoyment of W3 and Unity far worse than the framerate.

yep. as long as the frame rate isn't Blighttown bad, I can live with it. things popping up right in front of my face or mountains suddenly popping into view in the background are instant immersion killers for me though.

Don't know if it's my browser, but I could only once see the framerate drop. I'm far from used to 30fps so it should stick out to me.

here's a video, i've recorder earlier today.

i just uploaded it, so youtube is still converting it, i think.

the framerate war fine until i used the scope, then it dropped significantly, making it hard to get a good shot.

Ok, the vid in the OP didn't seem terrible to me but this does. Performance actually negatively and persistently affects gameplay in a meaningful way. This is something worth getting upset over.

People can't tell the difference between 20 and 60fps and choppy framerates add to the challenge?

Even if this is a troll post it's a terrible one.
