I turned everything to max except god rays on my ancient pc (q6600, 560ti, 4gb ram) and its actually running decently at 25-30 fps

a few more tweaks and Id be happy with a steady 40

Mouse controls are fucked up. The x-axis is turning faster than y-axis

You can fix it easily. Go to the ini files in the documents folder and in one of them under Controls you'll see two settings related to mouse movement, simply double the value of the Y axis and save the ini.

Quoting for visibility, thanks.

Fallout4.ini

My settings if you want to copy-pasta.

[Controls]
bMouseAcceleration=0
fMouseHeadingXScale=.020
fMouseHeadingYScale=.040

Nah I have the same rig. He can max this game (at 1080p)

Ok, thanks for clarifying.

Does that include indoors too?

only been in the semi open houses (no indoor loading) but it was about the same

its a shame the nvidia guide is down, im itching to tweak things but for some crazy reason you have to quit and restart to change graphics settings

Sorry to post this question again, but I hoping to pick up tomorrow and would like to know beforehand.

I am thinking of getting this on PC now, but i don't know how well it will run...

Win10
i7 CPU 860 @2.80ghz (8 CPUs) ~ 2.8ghz
16gig RAM
AMD Radeon HD 5800

How would this go compared to the PS4 version?

Ahhhh, no matter what combonations of settings I try, I still get 40-45 fps in city. It runs at a perfect 60, until I look at the dense area with the skyscrapers and it drops just enough to make it feel like shit.

Can we enable adaptive vsync in this? Do I just enable it from the Nvidia control panel, or do I have to do something else to get it to work?

Wow, Nvidia GeForce Experience has been trolling me. It kept telling me I had the latest driver, version 353.62 which came out at the end of July. I finally decided that had to be bullshit and manually searched for the latest driver in my browser. Yep, there's been like 6 driver updates since then. Has anyone else had this issue?

Ah, yep. Just started doing some exploration in the big city area and my framerate is regularly dropping down to 40. I am on ultra at 1440p with a 980ti, i7-2600k @4.5, 16GB RAM, Win 10. That's a big bummer. The wasteland and interiors run at a near perfect 60.

Edit: Even dropping to 1080p I can't get above 45fps in areas of this city.

970, i7 2600k (stock speed), 8GB RAM reporting in
1080p60 with a mix of settings
Most are on high except Decal, Shadow Quality, and God Ray. All the distance settings are set to about half except for grass which is slightly higher

Certain buildings with NPCs fighting inside cripple my FPS to 47-52.

980ti @ 1080p and 1440p. 3570k.

It's so strange. I can't seem to figure it out.

Borderless windowed mode halved my FPS. Was getting 30-40 fps on Ultra on a GTX 780. Set to fullscreen and its solid 60 most of the time.

The UI is absolutely horrible to navigate with the mouse... what happened Bethesda? A huge downgrade from previous fallout titles. Everything is so awkward, terminals are horrible (have to hit ENTER to go to next page, can't click), Y sensitivity is different from X axis sensitivity... etc the list goes on and on. Makes me wonder if anyone at their studio actually played this on PC. At least my DS4 works great and that's what I'm playing on.

Question to those who have done the "double the sensitivity" config fix for the mouse sensitivity: do you have to change it every time you move the mouse sensitivity slider, or does it stay doubled?

God rays is damn demanding, and I can't even tell the difference between ultra and medium, other than gaining like 20 fps.

Windows 10
Intel i5 2500k @ 4.5
980ti
16 gb ram

1440p, all settings maxed except god rays at medium = 70-100 fps
1440p, all settings maxed except god rays at ultra = 50-80 fps

Also, what's this I hear about uncapping the framerate through ini files? My game can already hit fps well above 60, and even into the 120 range if I stare at the ground.

So, just finished the intro. I have a constant 60fps at 1080p with:

R9 290
i5-4690k
16gb of RAM
Windows 10

The game automatically set me on ultra graphics but I turned down godrays to medium and AF to 12x. No severe dips from what I can see but overall I'm pretty pleased. I was originally one that said the game didn't look all that great but in motion, the art style is very pleasing and enjoyable. A lot more colors than FO3, thats for sure.

It's nice to see the exact same specs as mine with positive results. Was a bit concerned that my CPU doesn't meet the recommended.

Ha, that's promising (I've a somewhat similar rig: 6950-flashed-to-6970, 8gb RAM, i5). I'm not one for pre-ordering so was never a risk of being burned by lousy day one performance, but I was still very curious to know how my PC would have performed (otherwise I'd just grab the PS4 edition).

Looks like my PC would comfortably run it above my PS4, which is a bonus at this stage of its life cycle! All that said, I think I'll just sit tight for the GOTY edition next year.

Disabled windowed borderless and I'm getting better framerates now, (still dropping to 40 in the city, though not as often), but now I'm getting a shitton of screen tearing. Uuuuuugh.

Has anyone run the game at 4k with max settings? Is it stable at 60fps? I have a 3930k OC to 4.8 and 2xTitan X. Hoping to run at 4k, 60fps with everything set to max.

Mine is locked at 36fps for some strange reason.

Playing at 1440p with an i7-4770k and a Titan X too.

Have you overclocked your monitor to 72Hz? It might be locking you to half your refresh rate because of the vsync or something?

I know the game runs at 72FPS for me with vsync enabled and I have a 144Hz monitor.

Windowed mode fixes it.

I had to turn off v-sync too, the game was a stuttering mess even in borderless window if it was on.

Turning off v-sync apparently means essentially unlocking the framerate, so it brings its share of hilarious problems with it

Mine was already set to what that said you should change it to, doing the opposite didn't do anything either. So bizzare

Mine is a 1440p, 144Hz Gsync monitor so it should be like yours if anything

EDIT: Ok I deleted the file in the documents folder and let the game reset the auto hardware settings again and booted it up and it fixed it. I have no idea how or why haha

How come I don't see a vsync option?

i7-5820K
GTX 970
16GB DDR4
Installed on a Samsung 840 240GB SSD

Maxed out @ 1080p

So far I'm getting and average of 59FPS, occasional drops to 57 or 55 but pretty rare. Game is running like a dream so far.

I started out playing with a DS4 just to see how that felt but it seemed some of the button mapping options were missing in the controls menu? For instance there was no listing for changing viewpoints or entering VATS. I know the corresponding buttons, but they wouldn't work when pressed on the DS4. Anyone else had issues like this? I am using KB/M instead but the UI is a mess without a controller.

Forcing vsync off introduces screen tearing, even on my gsync monitor which seems impossible to me. How the hell? Let Bethesda fuck up something so basic.
