Twilight Princess>Super Mario Galaxy 2>Metroid Prime>Metroid Prime Pinball>Yoshi's Wooly World>Diddy Kong Racing DS>Watch Dogs

Anyway, I really hope that everything about TPHD is true. Really curious about the new graphics.

Not really 3d world feels so darn cramped and unexplorable that they dont feel like worlds at all but like levels from a 2d mario game. The Galaxy games have a sense of grandeur and soul to their levels, many of the places you go actually feel like its own little world unlike 3D world which always feels like going from point A to point B.

And that's for better, to be honest. "Mini-worlds" structure suited Galaxy 1 way better, mostly because of the structure of the game and the type of progression (i.e. how many missions can you unlock on a single level at a given time, how many levels are open for playing etc.)

Besides, I have to say that Chimp's challenges and Fluzzard levels felt way more artificial than anything from 3D World. The only type of level I honestly miss from Galaxy 2 is slider levels.

Perceptions... I recently bought NFS for PS4 thinking it would be the NFS Underground I wanted. Well, it was only partially it and i'm greatly dissapointed but oddly I liked what I saw from it on trailers.

Yeah I could be wrong about it, but I'm not gonna spend money on something that looks bad to me in almost every way. I'd like to have at least a realistic chance of feeling good about my purchase.

Ninfriendos: what do we know about for sure? Do we know the runtime? Do we have any reliable leaks?
Basically nothing. We know with 95% certainty that TP HD exists but that doesn't nessiciarily mean it will be revealed tommorow. We know it is worldwide which means it is a major direct, however major directs have been disapointing in the past so that doesn't say much.

That doesn't work that way, especially considering that Galaxy 2 plays just like 3D World with a bit of Galaxy fluff.

That 'bit of Galaxy fluff' literally has more dimensions (axes) to traverse than 3D World, so by definition, they are not in the same realm. They do not play the same, despite being made by the same developers.

3D World Mario doesn't even have full analog controls! His movements are completely digital. 3D World and 3D Land are much closer to being 2D Mario games than the Galaxy games ever hoped to be.

I really hope this condescending as fuck comment is sarcastic.
It's not. I've been in a position where I've had to skip out on things that I may very well have enjoyed that just didn't quite catch my eye. I'm just expressing that I feel lucky in that I don't really have to worry about that sort of stuff.

Sorry if it seemed like I was being a dick, I didn't mean for it to be like that.

I'm sorry that you're in a financial position that you're unable to take chances on things. That must suck. :(

The vast majority of people can't just spontaneously buy full priced retail games on a whim to see if they like it or not. So they have to stick to the games they think they will enjoy the most. You're in a very fortunate place if you can just impulse buy $60 games

Im just not that into the 2d mario formula, thats why Galaxy 2, 64 and Sunshine speak to me so much more than the others because of how they feel like actual places, they also allow for a more dynamic progression through their levels giving you more options then games that are similar or are 2d mario games and that is part of the fun.

Dangit. Got all excited for incoming direct, then realized it's tomorrow, not today. Apparently I don't do calendars.

Here's the handy timing thing someone made if you need to keep track:

Which was backed with pictures and then a little while later, video. And was also more or less confirmed by the next day via a Famitsu announcement showing that there was no way the images were fake.

I mean

these are pictures

and they look blury in kind of the same way the Smash ones did

I'm not saying they're real or fake but you can't count them out. The /v/ roster leak didn't have the vids until a while later.

Alright we've debated Skyward Sword's controls, whether 3D World is a real 3D Mario or not, let's see...what do you guys think of Federation Force?
I like what I saw. I honesly do. Its just not Metroid and thats fine since its just called Federation Force/Blast Ball and is a new IP. Tho I am shocked we didn't get a Metroid game on 3DS at all. Oh well.

Only thing I'd be worried about is the online servers being dead since Nintendo mistakenly called this a Metroid game and not a new IP. Of course everyone now knows its a new IP but I fear the damage is done.

Fun fact: On the e3 page Federation Force and Blast Ball were two seperate entries, so they are likely two seperate $40 games. Neat! Two new IPs from Nintendo in 2016. And people say Nintendo doesn't make new IPs lol.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

Only just saw that Yaucht Club games are doing a reddit AMA a few hours after the direct. I'm sure that came up in here pages ago, but yeah, Shovel Knight for smash keeps getting more likely.

Even if not though, we'll definately get him in mario maker once his Amiibo is out.

Edit: fake /v/ list indeed. Information on upcoming releases is so vague... a leak would specify the releases.

The same /v/ leaker just said that Twilight Princess HD is coming for Wii U and 3DS.
And it's cross-buy.

It didn't last long, but good try.

The AMA is before the Direct.

To be honest, I agree with you on 64 and Galaxies, However, I found Sunshine to be the most limiting of all 3D Mario games (or nearly as limiting as 3D Land) in terms of progression. You can't even make blue coin shines to be counted for beating main game, which means blue coins are useless unless going 100%... and it's not like there is no insane amount of tedium on the way to its unrewarding 100%.

So is defense force just a word for 'group of people you disagree with' now

Er, no. That was in reference to the six (six!) obnoxious 3D World topics this summer where BS like "when will Nintendo make a Mario World 3D for Wii U?" was springboarded to homogenize non-fans as being on the same boat.

Even disregarding all that, it's just an insanely frustrating argument on both sides. Much of what I witnessed then boiled down to fanboyism and weird stereotypes.

There's a thread about a supposed Direct leak on /v/

This...this looks strangely real.

EDIT: Since this is a rumour, manage with caution. It could perfectly be a fake.

Shibata is wearing all black in his instagram pic so I'm guessing fake.

Edit: beaten

totally fake I'd imagine but tennis sorely needs free DLC or something because it's super barebones compared to almost any entry before it.

Also, inkling and shantae would be fine by me :3

Its kinda funny that "shuffle dlc" is the most boring thing there and also the clear sign that it's fake*. shuffle gets new content super-frequently and it never gets any fanfare.

*Clearest sign other than having the odds stacked against it by the overwhelming perentage of "leaks" that are fake.
