Rumour: Small new Mass Effect: Andromeda details

I don't come to Mass Effect to bang humans, so I'm not too worried about hair simulation. As long as Frostbite can accurately render exotic dextro-amino acid sweat beading upon that exquisite chitinous shell, I'll be fine.

What if there's a Wookie-like race? Can't get up in that hair if it's a 1/10.

I hope the gay male character is actually hot this time around. Kaiden Alenko hot level but with a more interesting personality.

I hope they're attractive as Sera just so people can get their panties in a twist over not having an attractive video game mate.

Did you just dis my DA:I wife? Sure, she's no supermodel and she's more than just a little crazy. She has that set-your-teeth-on-edge laugh. Not to mention being a little inflexible on some issues. She's also far more interesting than any cookie-cutter beauty you're going to meet, and there's a great life lesson right there.

Even though the Pathfinder has military experience, he/she is more of an explorer than anything, hence the focus on the title.

Glad to hear it.

One other small detail, you can divulge it, is the Pathfinder in a major leadership role a la DA:I or do they report to higher ups?

He grew a personality in ME3 a bit more, thankfully. (He was about as interesting as paint drying in ME1, christ.) Best biotic tank boyfriend. I remember watching him tank two brutes and a banshee once, I was so proud of him.

Strike Team missions, going by the survey leak, are a combination of Inquisition, Peace Walker, and Mass Effect 3. They're randomised, time sensitive objectives you send out AI squads on to ideally complete and return with loot/XP/currency. But they're not static, so like Peace Walker can go up in skill and have their loadouts improved. Some Strike Missions are marked as "Active", which can be played manually instead of via AI. And that basically integrates ME3's multiplayer into the single player, as the characters you use when playing multi are crossover from the multiplayer component, and can be played as co-op.

Sounds good

The two funniest I've found so far is the 'female straight/bi LI's aren't good enough' and the hundreds-page-long thread on the BSN about needing a white knight gay companion that started with Blackwall turning out to be straight.

DAI Spoilers:
More humorous once you learn his backstory in Inquisition.

God forbid gay people want interesting video game mate like their straight counterpart.

Actually, let's make all the squadmates bisexual so people can bitch about their sexual insecurity.

He's taking the piss about how people bitched about how unattractive they thought the LI options were.

For the record I third that. I truly hope that team ignored every complaint about their supposed homeliness.

And DA2 was a proprietary engine while ME3 was UE3-derivative.

This is Frostbite 3, like Dragon Age, with a lot - A LOT - of the same people working on it. I don't see why this wouldn't have controller support.
There's no reason why 1 through 3 shouldn't have had it either since all 3 games were released on the 360 at launch.

Going to the BSN was your first mistake.

I just hate how it will probably be focused on just human survival. The humans are the least interesting of all the species in Mass Effect. It would also seem really weird having a big party of numerous species looking for a home for humans.

I'm the opposite, since I'm a human, I get this 'human pride' type of feel when playing Mass Effect (especially ME1).

It's like a proxy sense of accomplishment at what our race could achieve if we stopped doing silly stuff like war etc.

You are just mean. It sucked having to choose the least ugly love interest. Cassandra wasn't ugly, but they gave her that nasty scar. So I just rolled a female Inquisitor and went with Sera.

I hope they remove love interest entirely. I hate how it feels like the fan base treats these games as dating sims.

Way too many people who like Mass Effect are in it at least partially for the waifu/husbandu factor. I can't imagine the franchise leaving that behind.

And yet don't all Alliance personnel assigned to this project qualify as "pathfinders?" What specifically qualifies the commander of this expedition to be the singular individual to hold the title Pathfinder?

Even after the player became a Spectre in Mass Effect 1, they were known as Commander and Shepherd throughout the series rather than Spectre.

Vindictive, aren't you? Hahaha.

Hell no. My Shepard's relationship with his SO added significant weight to the overall impact of my experience playing ME series. You can always just ignore them anyway and go solo if you want the whole time.

Commander Shepard had extensive military experience with the Alliance even before becoming a Spectre (a lot of people don't really think about that), so calling Shepard 'commander' is just a continuation of that. I still don't know everything about the Pathfinder, only the reasoning behind the title. There will likely be something that distinguishes him or her from the rest.

Well, first off they're not so sorry to burst your bubble there, and secondly, that sounds a bit selfish. Why does it matter how others enjoy their game?

Yeah, of course. All we can do at this point is speculate.

Thanks for the prompt response. We can always count on you to provide interesting discussion as it relates to Mass Effect threads.

In my defense, I migrated there once the Mass Effect forums for Mass Effect 1 shut down.

We've all made mistakes, I won't hold it against you.

Nah but seriously, I've spent some time on it and I can't fathom why a company would entertain such a toxic and unappreciative of their work forum.

Maybe I was just spending it in the wrong section of BSN but I frequented the Mass Effect 3 and DAI board on BSN quite often but they're really not bad, at least not in the way that you two implied in here. Really, lots of reasonable, well-natured people in there. It's not really any better or worse than GAF, actually.

I wasn't really being serious. BSN's okay, but I can only stand the same arguments so many times before it gets tiring. It's a good place if you're interested in Bioware games since it has constant topics around, but it also comes with the negatives you can expect from any hardcore fans.

BSN was great for a while. Then it was good. Then it was OK. Then it was awful, the worst thing ever, and that's of course where its legacy perception stands because it's the bad stuff that sticks with people who don't frequent a place. And considering how bad it was at that time, I can't blame 'em.

It's fine now. Not great, but fine. Those of us who stuck around are mostly fairly level-headed people with diverse opinions but a decent amount of respect for one-another.

Everything sounds promising besides the jetpacks I guess.

I have a strange feeling though this game is still a bit ways out to the point we wont' see a release for awhile.

'leak'? I bet this was deliberate.

Almost no story details, just lots of positive nuggets of info to keep people thinking about this game at the busiest time for video games this year.
