TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan rated. (Activision, Platinum Games, PC/PS4/XB1/360/PS3)

This is hilarious. It's like the videogame gods are running down a checklist of dream Platinum projects (but with like 1/4 the budget/time they deserve)

Star Fox? Not really, but kinda
Avatar? Sure why not.
G1 Transformers? Yep
Nier sequel? No brainier (at least this is getting a real dev cycle)
Ninja Turtles? Go ahead brehs

Fully expecting a Kill La Kill Platinum game next just because the idea is floating around in the universe. Probably something crazy like Shinobi after that.

What?!

Also how did it get an M rating based on that? Unless the AU rating system is different from the ESRB

It stars four humanoid characters that are NAKED! Australia's youth must be protected!

That or Mona Lisa got Krystal treatment.

On topic, Platinum!? They need to do a game from every show from the 80s and 90s that I loved. Need a Platinum Inspector Gadget next please.
Serious choice, Ronin Warriors by Platinum. Mmmm oh yes.

On one hand, nice to see this partnership continuing.

On the other hand, since Transformers only just released, this is probably the Korra team.

Should be interesting to see what style they go with here, though.

The Korra director also worked on Transformers, so there probably is a fair bit of staff overlap there and here as well, the issue was probably more related to the extremely low budget. The question is where this leaves a Devastation 2, assuming it's retail.

Or He Man? lol

Ever since Kora was a hit for them, Platinum and Activision have a deal which they work on a game based on an IP they have the game rights too every year (at least it seems that way).

So if this streak continues, it will work like this:
-2014: Legend of Korra
-2015: Transformers Devastation
-2016: TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan
-2017: Spider-Man (they own the game rights I think?)
-2018: G.I. Joe or Transformers Devastation 2
-2019: TMNT 2/Spider-Man 2
A Spider-Man game with Platnium combat/boss design would be the greatest fucking thing.

I do appreciate this collaboration, though. Reminds me of the days when Capcom, Konami and Sega were making licensed games every year or so. And while they might not have been big budget game changers (outside of DuckTales and TMNT Arcade, maybe) they were almost always fun as hell.

Had a feeling it was happening. Seems Platinum is Acti's go to for their licenses. Works out though, since so long as they have the budget of Transformers Devastation. Seems they can put out a competent product.

I'm curious to see what their eventual SpongeBob game looks like.

The closest we'll ever get to a W101 sequel

Just thinking about it from other posts.....Activision owns the X-Men game rights, right :D?

X-Men game by Platinum with Deadpool, Gambit, Psylock, Wolverine, and Beast coming 2017 alongside a Platinum Spider-Man to tie in with the film :D!

Activision has everybody else doing COD so they go to Platinum for other stuff lol

I guess whether or not this gets a retail release will tell us whether or not the budget is closer to Korra or Transformers.

So, these rights-holders think they can just pay Platinum to put out a quick licensed nostalgia game and it will make up for the fact they let Michael Bay stomp all over their IP for years on end?

Well, okay, they're right. Keep it up.
