Yeah Overgrowth looks really different, definitely enough of a remix difference.

What was the armour and weapon at the end? Happened so fast!

Overall another great stream, definitely think it could be trimmed down but there was a lot of content and stuff to talk through so I guess there isn't a locked in length.

I'd suggest using pre-recorded staged matches when showing off new maps, it's not fun watching a one sided match, or a Warzone where you don't see the new weapons, or the pov guy get's killed a lot. With a pre-recorded match the commentary will be a lot better too, it's not easy giving as good commentary when you're playing a game.

Great second stream though, loads to look forward to, and forge again was just wow.

Forge looks incredible and it was awesome to hear them repeatedly say this just the beginning and even more features are on the way. I hope the community really goes crazy.

Good sharing and browsing is a must though. Hopefully they put some time into improving that as well.

Hope someone gif'd that. Had to look away after the Eagle AR.

Didn't get the memo regarding the 14th Amendment
I didn't get to see all of it, but nice stream from what I saw and a lot of exciting updates are just around the corner!

One thing I would like though, is the ability to modify settings between Warzone, Arena, and Social. For instance, I like assassinations and stabilizers, but I don't like using either in Arena so I'm forced to pick and stay with certain settling for all game modes.

Sounds like some neat stuff.

Still don't like the advertising of new REQs in the form of armor, etc. that you seemingly have as little opportunity to get as any other high level armor/weapons in the game.

American Eagle skin? Tacky.

Gonna do matching Canadian and Mexican skins? How about Palestine?

You'd think a fantasy sci-fi shooter would play down infantile patriotisms.

I was thinking it could be a carbine variant hinting at a mode that uses legendary reqs on arena maps.

That's a very good point. I did wonder why a funky weapon was showcased on an Arena map.

It's either being introduced as a brand new weapon type, or like you said, we're getting a REQ Fiesta :O

You're taking this silly thing far more seriously than it needs to be. It's tacky and that's what I like to see in my goofy space shooters.

I think it's less about America and more about an animal theme. The magnum has a wolf holwing at the moon.

Im not sure if these kind of designs have a name, but to me it looks like a set revolved around this kind of animal imagery

So, two things I was thinking about:

How would you guys feel about a gameplay mechanic being added to "paint" enemies in death? Let me clarify: it could work in Arena or Warzone, though for deathcam reasons Arena would make more sense. Once you're killed, your body ragdolls and "settles" as normal. For painting to work, there are two prerequisites: you have to keep your camera on your corpse, meaning you're sacrificing viewing what's happening to your teammates, and your copse also has to be present, meaning getting flung off the map / disintegrated / etc. prevents it from happening.

During that brief 5 to 6-second window as you're awaiting a respawn, you can hold down your Scope button (so generally either right-click or LT) and you'll begin a charge that takes roughly as long as a Spartan Laser, being 3-4 seconds - giving you enough time to comfortably evaluate your corpse's orientation in post and whether or not painting is worth it. If any enemies are in range of your corpse (let's say the painting range relative to your corpse is about the same size as a rocket's splash radius) for the entire duration of your charge-up, they'll be outlined or "spotted" for all of your teammates, but not you. So, in other words, it's basically Martyrdom Promethean Vision, though with a number of checks and balances in place. Enemies that are painted are alerted that they've been spotted (possibly with a UI element around your corpse), and they'll remain spotted indefinitely unless they vacate out of range of the corpse (or until you die again).

While it may not necessarily clarify any information that team chat wouldn't, I think it'd be an interesting way to help prevent camping and aid in conveying info to teammates that aren't communicating, with the possibility of Spartan banter being added for it. e.g.

"Lost a teammate!"
*vwoooooooooop*
*DWEEE*
"Downed teammate painted a target!"

"Lost one to a Binary Rifle!"
*vwoooooooooop*
*DWEEE*
"Enemies spotted on their X!"

etc.

It'd also probably be more effective in objective gametypes than deathmatch-based ones, especially something like Strongholds where enemies have a habit of staying out of sight but still in the capture point.

Which brings me to my second point: how would you guys feel about player-wielded "kinetic bolt" / Promethean weapons disintegrating the equipment their victims had, in addition to vaporizing the bodies? I don't think I'd want stray Promethean AI wiping it out because it'd suck to lose Warzone weapons to mobs, but I think in Arena especially it'd give Promethean weapons a little extra oomph and illustrate them as being especially dangerous in situations where you also carried a power weapon - not to mention if you consider possibilities like derezzing an enemy carrying your flag causing it to return instantly or something. It'd also have a modicum more importance in a metagame where "painting" existed, because it'd mean the enemy would be shutting you out of being able to spot them.

I love how stupid the Eagle skin is, I do hope we get something like a maple leaf skin in the future. Even if we don't, up the stupidity of weapon skins. I love silly little visual things like that.

They could have a bunch of different nation skins. The December content tease didn't show everything coming with it, so let's not jump to conclusions about January's.

If you're anything like me, you clear their shields with body-shots like it's nothing, then your reticule starts bouncing back and forth across their head when you're going for the kill shot, because you keep 'skipping' past the deadzone trying to get it to move that last touch.

Maybe it's just me though.

not just you - the deadzones really fuck with my aiming.

It's amazing I made platinum at all sometimes (and top 2 or mvp most games).

We have future space places, planets, factions, etc
No need to ruin escapist fantasy sci-fi with thinly veiled flaccid real life bs.

I'd give it a pass if the Eagle skin wasn't clearly red, white and blue themed.

I'm just watching the stream now (first time really watching any of these streams) and thought I needed to say Bravo was such a smart hire. He is great at communicating and has superb on camera skills, he can talk endlessly and succinctly and deeply about the game, then roll into MLG style commentary for community clips, then move into more info dumping and do it all naturally and comfortably.

When is the update coming?

Sometime next week, they generally arn't giving exact dates to give patch drops some leeway.

Yeah he's very good at it. Wasn't a fan of Jay on his own in the previous video updates, but together they work well.

He really does do a fantastic job. He is constantly on (admittedly not GAF) sites like Reddit responding to people, he sometimes gives vague answers but he;d be torn a new one if he was making promises they couldn't keep. He does a great job with all the Community Updates and yeah, on the livestreams he's been fantastic.

It could easily be awkward/boring but him and Jay do a great job of keeping it interesting and are pretty natural at talking in front of the camera.

Ah well I'm sure tacky eagle appreciation continues to exist in the Halo universe. ;)

It'd be pretty funny to get something referencing the awful samurai elites from the anime, too.

The flag is much more important in Arena breakout since it's easier to run with full shields.

It amazes me how people completely don't give a fuck if it gets taken. They'll stay on the other side of the map like nothing is happening lol

It's kind of freaking me out how well 343 has been doing in basically every aspect of Halo 5 support so far. What a world of difference from Halo 4. It's so nice feeling constantly excited about Halo again.

Here is a quick comparison of the Mark V helmet

I really don't like the new design on Halo 5 it looks very different to the others
*sigh* all this time for this :( , what do you think guys do you like the redesign?
The armour looks fine but I hate the helmet.

They used an earlier version of Forge iirc. The maps will be updated. I know Standoff is adding in the triggers

Really? Are the maps getting updated next week as well?
I plan to take about a week to properly update Deadlock. TOP MEN will rework the spawning system. I will be updating the perimiter terrain to make it look similar to the original, as well as reworking the bases to my original vision. For instance, the back Blue base curved hallway was originally supposed to have the electrified lighting effect as seen in this gif:

Just tuned in, who's the Viking?
That's Dan Wicksten, Sandbox Designer (Top Weapons Guy). I had the pleasure of chatting with him about STUFF for about an hour on my last day at 343i.

My hair used to be that long.

Really not a fan of the bolt stuck onto the face, where did that come from? Takes away from the sleekness of the design

Is the second image a Mark V? Came up in a google search. They just look so different.

CE-era Chief was wearing MK V. H5G's new armor perm is Mk IV, which has only really been seen in super high-res on the Spartans in Halo Wars and (I think) on the cover of the Fall of Reach reissue.
