Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen Comes to PC This January

Looking forward to the first timer reactions to the endings.
Their beloved choice, in particular.. I remember reading that the "Masterworks all" guy was an inadvertently popular choice lol

Just got my GMG key, but the steam store still gives me the option to purchase DD. Also there is no button in my library that would presumably say wait until the game is released to download.

Is this normal for GMG? Also think we get pre-order bonuses for GMG?

Just check your full games list for "Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen". You may need to restart Steam if it's not already there.

The GMG key includes the pre-order stuff.

Yes, this is the way a typical GMG pre-order works.

Thank you! yeah the game was in the list I'm just surprised that isn't reflected in the store. Thanks again.

seriously tho, that kinda sucks. hopefully it's still buried in there somewhere and modders can recover it.

Damn I guess I won't go warrior this time around...that giant sword was my favorite T.T

I activated the key and it shows up in my library so that's all good. But I don't see the art book and soundtrack yet. Will these only be available at the same time as the game?

The game has "Extra Features"
Content wise, the port team stuffed everything else they possibly can into the base game plus some extra features fans had asked for. That includes new Achievements for high level players (most are post game & BBI-related), customizable item hot keys, graphics and performance enhancements, and other nice-to-have nips and tucks that greatly improves the overall Dragon's Dogma experience.

Item hot keys???

OMG, does this mean, no more going into the menu to replenish health or stamina or use Periapts?

Please please please please please someone say yes

Affirmative! Glad someone finally took notice from the video. The very first part of the footage shows Savan taking out the lantern without the menu pop-up. My lantern on/off toggle is bound to NUM1. NUM2 and NUM3 has healing and stamina regen items, and NUM4 is assigned to Eternal Ferrystone. NUM5 is unused at the moment.

So yes, you can customize and assign various items to keys 1 ~ 5. Very handly especially in the heat of combat.
.

do item hot keys mean you press a key and you then hold oil bottle (to throw) or lamp on/off without going into tedious menu like crappy console?

Wait, keyboard only? :( Can we do something like, hold L2 + a face button or something... ;_;

Could probably do that with some outside software, where you'd program it so in your example, say, L2 + say, right on dpad as a macro for NUM1.

Though it'd probably be better off with L1 since L2 sheates your weapon.

Or like Nabs suggested, with a DS4 and DS4windows you can program a bunch of macros into the touchpad. That's how I played witcher 3, swiping different directions to choose signs rather than going into the sub menu.

Yeah L1 + face button is already used for the secondary weapon's ability though. xD Tapping L2 sheathes it, I was hoping I could bind holding L2 + face button or something.

I might try the DS4 thing, I guess. Or just use the keyboard but ugh. Hate playing with a keyboard.

HOT KEYS

ARE YOU FUCKING

SERIOUS

For those of you who've never played DD, one of my few gripes was having to trek to the options to switch shit around and apply it to my character. This negates much of my time not spent fucking up shit.

Yeah that's why I suggested right D pad instead of the face buttons.

It can use both inputs at the same time, so you can even do a hybrid, just use the NUM keys when you need the item. Kind of akward, but have played a few games like that in the past, switching to the keyboard only when needed.

I imagine they will have a controller way to do this.. At least I'm hoping, as I have an xbone elite on the way. Paddle for lantern would be great.

I'll be playing with a gamepad, but I always have my keyboard besides me so it's easy to me to just press a button.

I'm really excited to play this with my steam controller now. I mean, I was always excited, but the new hotkeys just makes it so much sweeter.

Fire up that DS4 windows.

I could see something like using shift mode to have it where when you touch the touchpad, the face buttons change into your hotkeys.

Shortcut buttons sound great. Haven't played DD before, but looking at the control scheme, dpad left and right do the same thing, i.e., "Command pawn(s) to help". So, we should be able to remap the L2 function of "Draw/sheathe weapon" to, say, the "Left" d-pad, and then use "L2+face-buttons" for item shortcuts.

DS4 with Inputmapper can set this up in a few seconds. There would be other options possible as well like the touchpad clicks, swipes, etc.

Good point. The D-pad is useless, I never use the pawn commands really. I could surely overwrite them somehow.

I just really need 4 hotkeys too; one for an healing item, one for a stamina replenishing item, one for a periapt, and one for the lantern.

Yeah L1 + face button is already used for the secondary weapon's ability though.

The only buttons you can feasibly free-up/de-assign are the d-pad "go/come here/rally", but that still only 4 buttons. With inputmapper use Home button to toggle another set of 4 macros I guess.

Off-topic but does inputmappers macro feature also record the analogue sticks? Like if I want to make a macro that does two 360's really fast with the left analogue stick and then press X, can it record that and play that back? Or does it only do macros for the digital buttons?

Also, you can use something like L2+R1 for an item shortcut as well, while still retaining the function of R1 (R1: Use primary weapon skills). Inputmapper has a function that has a "NOT" parameter. So, it can be set up as:

L2+R1 = Item shortcut
R1 (when L2 is NOT pressed) = Use primary weapon skills.

Same can be done for other buttons as well, so lots of controller mapping as possible.

Haven't tried this, so not sure.

damn new achievements is right up my alley! So excited to know more about them.

Here are names of the new Achievements. Fairly standard and expected stuff for seasoned DD/DDDA veterans.

You can probably figure out most of them, but I'll spoiler mark them just in case.

- Cheat Death
- Conqueror
- True Conqueror
- Hardened Veteran
- 100
- Infinity
- Eye Gouger
- The Inquisitor
- The Sprinter

It would be really easy to port this for PS4 / X1 since both systems use (very weak) PC hardware.

So I am guessing that it has become acceptable to wander into platform specific threads and ask for a port for a system that the thread does not pertain to? I am just asking, since I recall PC folks getting banned left and right for doing the exact same thing.

Thanks for the hints :D I think I see what most of them are, but I blank on two of them for now.

I'm so excited to replay this...especially BBI, it's my favorite zone of the entire game.
Already said this when Dark Arisen dropped for console, but I would love a full game based on BBI ^^;

I can only think of the mods, glorious.

Seriously. I'm so excited about this. I really hope someone figures out how to pop random mobs all over the place. Drool...

Edit: Oh yeah, and maybe make the direction pad/pawn controls not affect pawn inclination. Or just kill Guardian.
