edit- LOL there are posts about how info leaked that Bungie's next game won't be on a Sony platform, how Ouya had a chance to be involved in any way with success, how Watch Dogs was going to be one of the biggest IPs of the new generation, ect. This thread is a fucking goldmine.

I'm not sure what's so "LOL" about Destiny. They're official documents, it was somewhat reasonable to believe it would not have been on Playstation initially.

Isnt sony being this much ahead of microsoft, and microsoft being this much ahead of nintendo essentially a bad thing for us gamers?

It looks good with all these indies and second party exclusives on the horizon, but arguably the only truly great ps4 exclusive is bloodborne and that game isnt even a first party.

And we are more than 2 years into this generation.

They didnt even fix their godawful ui yet.

God what a shitty post. You almost filled the whole bingo card by yourself.

Isn't it over a million just in Japan? And considering the install base I'd say it's pretty damn big. I can't remember WW estimates though.

Yeah it's doing great over there must over 3 million WW by now .
Still the IPs he list are all 8 million plus sellers which why i say it not huge at least comapre to them .

Hmm....

I was hoping for something closer to 40 million.

But I suppose ~36 million will have to suffice for now.

It will probably be ~55 million by this time next year.

Sony was neck and neck with Xbox last gen after launching a year late with a $599 console with a bad network that somehow cranked out worse looking games than it's competition for YEARS.

It's amazing that they managed to turn that into a tie. If it had been anyone else, they never would have recovered. Can you see nintendo pulling that off? Sega? Atari?

Ehhh you're giving sony a bit too much credit here. There were two consoles and the 599 was widely recognized as a value packed multimedia device but not all could afford it so that probably stunted their start a bit, still outselling 360 worldwide from day 1.

The network had some issues and was more budget but it was FREE and many loved that. Meanwhile games like Warhawk and cod ran just as well on this network.

Games there were some like Fallout that did run poorly on ps3, I played both versions. Their exclusives meanwhile from day 1 looked great and the graphics difference in multiplats was minimal, like we had pixel counting back then while this gen people are saying graphics don't matter.

Don't call it a comeback there's always things could be done better but they weren't blindly wandering the desert

They latest incident I can think of is from Yoshida himself just the other week on Twitter when he was incredibly rude to Ryan from IGN. Ryan simply wondered if MS had approached Kojima for a deal. Being an Xbox fan and covering Xbox for IGN the tweet, speculation and hype around Kojima being a free agent is obviously worth discussing. Then in comes Yoshida spouting something along the lines of "you love MS so much?". These higher ups should be behaving better than this instead of acting salty. I know Phil Spencer and Xbox are the underdogs, but I don't see this behaviour on Twitter from him any more. (Greenberg can still be annoying, though).

But let's stop before I come across as making this MS vs Sony. This is strictly Sony's behaviour.
I'd imagine Shu's over the moon to be working with Kojima Productions directly.

Salty Ryan fully deserved that poking.

I definitely get that, but on a total install base of ~12m, that's pretty good. The game might end up close to Smash/Mario on Wii U levels.

Decent amount of software coming out, PSVR, possible further price-cuts and a maybe even a Slim version as a wildcard.

Pure guess work, nothing concrete to work with.
No, I mean, PS4 would have to sell even more than this year, say 20 mil, and XBO would have to sell less than ~2 mil for 3:1 to happen.
Unless you think PS4 will do even more?

You kidding? Those were the dark arrogant Sony years. I hated them back then. It lead to a disastrous PS3 launch. Not saying they are back there, but Sony leading with limited competition worries me.

Who cares if you personally felt they were arrogant? The PS2 library was amazing.

Er, i don't even know how one could have hated the PS1 and PS2 gens. Unless one didn't own one of them of course

Well we don't know what XB1 did for December yet, so maybe the gap is larger than you think. Still it's very unlikely that a 3:1 could be achieved. I'd be very surprised if 3:1 happens at all really. Assuming PS4 is tracking for 100 mil, XB1 would stay at 33 mil after 360 selling 80+? Seems unlikely.

Oh whoops, I totally forgot they'd still be selling XB1's, lol

Let's move that 3:1 ratio to the beginning of 2018 then; 2 years should be ample time for that kind of lead to manifest.

I wonder just how low the price of the PS4 will actually be able to get at the end of life with a mandatory hard drive. That seemed to be the key for the PS2's ridiculously long tail. I'm not the most up to date on rock bottom pricing, but don't hard drives stay relatively costly?

That's double what I expected. Crazy, especially considering there wasn't any of the so called killer exclusive this holiday.

This actually makes the 13 million Battlefront figure a lot more believable. If we estimate a third or half of the bundles sold are Battlefront ones, and if Xbone pulled similar numbers then that's 5 million units accounted for alone.

Wait wait wait...PS4 sold more in 2015 than Xbox One LTD? What the fuck? Jesus I didn't know it was that bad. I mean I knew it was bad but...damn.

Like...when put into context like that...my mind is blown a bit.

Eh, make it end of 2018 to be safe.
If PS4 gets to ~75 mil by late 2017, I am sure XBO at least gets to 30 mil, at which point it's 2.5:1.

What do you mean? Sure Sony is like 20m ahead of Xbox but Nintendo announced 10m back in July and are likely only 3-5m behind Xbox.

Xbox and Nintendo are doing fine it is just Sony going to infinity and beyond.
