I'm thinking that they're playing up how expensive the thing is, so that $399 will sound like a massive bargain.

Then again, I said the same about PS3, and we got 599.

wait for viiiivveeeee

My haven't-done-nearly-enough-research sense is that the Rift has more announced games and will likely do more beyond just gaming, but the Vive scales better from an immersion perspective if you have the appropriate setup (e.g. a large empty space you can configure for VR). I have such a space.

I may just hold off until the Rift controllers are out and see the state of the market at that time.

We will get the price today.

i would wait for reviews! would be terrible to spend 300-500 bucks and later find out the other is better or has better entertainment support!

no need to rush. These things wont sell like hotcakes i think. You will get one online or in a store.

No of course they wont. I mean I sold my dk2 which i bought for $350 in july 2014 for $500 in seconds on ebay in october 2015.

could anybody buy a DK2 or was it difficult to get one? looking at your profit i guess not!

do they still produce Dk2? if not maybe it was a collector.

Really tempted to preorder. They'll probably release a new version next year though.
I usually wait for the v2 of new tech.

I am surprised people think this won't sell through incredibly fast on initial shipments today.

The concern with VR isn't the upfront success it's whether or not it will maintain that long term.

There have been people waiting 20 years for a viable home VR solution. Out of the gate these things will be a big deal.

Next year..

Oculus Rift 2. Everything has changed.

Then...

Oculus Rift 3. This is the VR you have been waiting for.

And then..

Oculus Rift 4. We have reinvented VR.

Finally.

Oculus Rift 5. Everything has changed. Again.

why would somebody pay 500 if at that time he was able to get it for less? stupid people on ebay.

Early on the DK2 had a long queue. When I ordered, I had to wait 2 months to get it. By late last year the queue was virtually gone, but people were constantly paying up to double the price on eBay either because they didn't have the patience to wait 1-2 weeks for delivery from Oculus, or they just assumed the queue was still much longer.

I kind of want the original VR applications just for shits and giggles.

Don't forget Oculus Rift 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s etc...

Have they said anything about the ability to cancel pre-orders? I think I'm going to go for one, but I would like to keep my options open in case something happens (vive).

Hopefully!

I fear the development will be slightly slower than that. Probably only a new HMD every 2 years.
