Xenoblade and Splatoon would benefit the most from an anime.

Those franchises need to become new long lasting names in Nintendo's library, and any way of spreading the word is appreciated.

A splatoon anime can definitely be a great thing to announce especially before a Spla2oon reveal. I'm gonna say that'll happen whenever we get a sequel.

The NX as a powerful home console launching fall of 2016 with Spla2oon as a launch title and an accompanying anime.

Be still my heart.

But if they go with the first Xenoblade, would the English dub studio go out of their way to get the original cast back? Some of the more high profile VAs, such as Melia's (Jenna Coleman), would likely have to be recast.

Nintendo needs to create new franchises that compliments yet differentiates them from their existing franchises. Simple.

I'd release sequels for top 10 Nintendo franchises, while generating 10 newer franchises. 10 Nintendo titles a year for 10 years, and pretty much go through all the games that haven't seen any sequels.

C'mon, Nintendo! Show me you can release a game every month.

Not what I'm saying. Its just noticeable that we talk about NX almost exclusively as traditional home console like GCN/Wii/WiiU.
I see what you're getting at.

I think it's more an ecosystem than any single piece of hardware, but I have more fun talking on the home console front than I do handheld.

I also think it's needed more. 3DS hasn't sold great for a Nintendo handheld. But it's still sold enough that software profitability exists. WiiU is an albatross of another order. Owners are lucky they are dealing with Nintendo here. XboxOne at WiiU levels wouldn't make it to year three, and we can see how Sony deals with that kind of seller in Vita.

While it's true that the Wii U is pretty much a corpse at this point, one could argue that the 3DS is on its last legs.

Xenoblade X anime? Mechas? Awesome. Sawano (obvious choice) composing? Fuck yeah

Xenoblade X anime picking up from the ending of the game would be awesome to answer some of those questions from the ending. The next Xenoblade should be a sequel to Chronicles.

Sequel to Chronicles = stealth prequel to X. That'd be a nice way to link the two since they tease connections already.

2) Kimishima says Nintendo wants to surprise fans with new ideas - not build on old ones. Nintendo will in 2016 release “details” on the NX.

Ooooh dear.

this is theoretically what the nx would allow if it's basically one library on multiple platforms. of course, mobile will be eating some of the development resources too.

If NX doesn't release this year, I'd still like to get a couple more first party Wii U titles before all is said and done.

A proper Paper Mario from IS, maybe a couple more remasters from GameCube/Wii era. Metroid isnt coming til NX. The current Spring line-up is okay tho. Didn't Kimishima talk about unannounced Wii U titles at the last investor briefing? We got TP HD so far...the rest have been known about for around a year now.

Zeldanime please please please for the love of god theres no way it couldn't be at least a little cool

The SMBSS cartoon doesn't count as anime

I bet that live action Zelda Netflix tv show happens even though they denied it after it got reported.

An anime would be better. I don't want to see some 26-year-old hunko playing Link. Live-action Link would work best as a child or teenager, anything above would be dumb.

Games take time to develop. We probably won't see "Spla2n" until late 2017 at the very very earliest.

The more they wait the more people will just buy a Xbone and PS4

So, Nintendo's target audience for the NX are people who don't already own an Xbox One and a PS4? I sure hope they don't expect good sales then

The more we hear about the NX, the less I think it will release this year. Which is a shame because the Wii U has like one game I want this year (Zelda). Thinking Dragon Quest X will be delayed and Star Fox I'll need reviews.

I want my Genndy Tartakovsky Super Mario movie. God dammit if losing that meant bringing back Samurai Jack in some sort of equivalent exchange then so be it. But still :(

Well I don't own a Xbone or PS4 and I guess there are more out there that don't own any of the 2.

Please remember that Nintendo has fundamentally changed its corporate policy to be more spontaneous about reveals and release dates to get the leg up on the competition.

So just because Kimishima says that Nintendo will release "details" about the NX in 2016 doesn't mean that they don't have a plan to release it in the same year.

The Wii U and 3DS markets are deteriorating rapidly around the world. Nintendo's core business desperately needs a shot in the arm...they can't wait another Christmas with nothing to show for it.

Furthermore, production schedules for many of Nintendo's core teams nicely line up for a end-of-2016 launch.

So I wouldn't count out a 2016 NX just yet.

I hope Nintendo dabbles in "animation" and not "anime". Go to Pixar and say "Hey, what could you do with the Legend of Zelda?" or etc. please no Nintendo characters squeezed into tired old anime tropes. Unless it's Splatoon. Might work there.

Anime is cheaper.
You gotta see if it works before trying to reach out to the big boys.
A publishing deal with Netflix would be great though.

Yup i agree with all u said there.^~^

I feel Nintendo can just do a huge Nintendo Direct to showcase NX and then in E3 shows all the software the platform is going to get plus all the extra information. Then, in December launch the console.

As currently, 3DS is slowing down a lot tx to it being on its last leg+Wii U well, Wii Uing its sales.

It is going to be really interesting to see what NX is and whether it is going to be capture lots of fans again.

Assuming Nintendo sticks with the concept of having a mobile hardware, which undoubtedly they are, I guess we'll get the handheld aspect of the NX line this year followed by the stationary device/what ever the bigger counterpart is next year. I just don't know how to feel about that kind of product our imagination has created here by constantly speculating or interpreting vague hints, I would rather prefer Nintendo penetrating the market by establishing a software platform.

Most of Nintendo revenue come from hardware so limiting themselves as software only company is never a good idea.

Sure, but how much cash would they need to bring with them? :/
That's not how collaborations work. Nintendo owns some of the most well known IPs worldwide second only to Disney. Companies would fight to work with them. Nintendo has just never been open to anything like that for a long time. They are the ones who would be taking checks, not writing them.

I believe from the House of Cards thread that Netflix doesn't really pay anything, they just provide the platform. Don't ask me how that's profitable for the content creators.

I didn't mean turning themselves into a software only company but literally expending into platforms they can be competitive in. Use their new mobile strategy as an example where they, as I assume it, are not only trying to generate a revenue but also promote Nintendo as a brand. Another platform that might provide a similar attractive environment is the PC, though it would be nice to know how hard exactly the PC area is contested considering Microsoft's recent effort to reestablish themselves there again.

after thinking about it I don't like the new way Nintendo has been dropping news lately

they are almost back to pretty much pre-Iwata days of PR

Bayo2 stand-alone release date

Pokken launch date

and some of these bits would at least make a Direct Mini

Anime would be huge for Kid Icarus in terms of the stories they can produce. The Legend of Zelda could explore their games in more detail and the chances of cross overs with different Nintendo characters could work well.

Animes? I can already see other IPs going the Fire Emblem route. :/ RIP Nintendo IPs.

You mean "be more successful and reach a wider audience than ever before"?

It's not all doom and gloom. Don't all be so pessimistic
