Mortal Kombat XL (Komplete Edition) coming in March

It was me, you guys. I finally broke down and picked it up, with a gift card, last week.

This is the keystone event, me buying a Netherrealms fighting game, that triggers the announcement of a new version. This way I can watch the price I just paid drop over the next few weeks.

It works that way with me and Capcom, too.

You're welcome.

Did you buy digital or physical? In all honesty it's most likely still a bargain.

Hi, I'm nortonff. I spend my life going into threads to say that I don't care about the topic of the thread. It's a really good use of my time.
So glad I waited to get this.

Is the game good on PS4? I bought it on PC at release and online was unplayable months after, the main sever went down every day and 99% of matches were too laggy to play.
They just started a Beta and right now impressions are really good for their rollback system

Fuck them for this exclusive skin preorder bullshit.

The Cosplay skins should have been included in Kombat Pack 2 instead of all the old DLC packs

The Pit is in game? Holy shit.

I was excited to get this but the easy fatality controversy and crappy netcode (PC user) was a concern especially how shitty High Voltage is at porting. Injustice and MK9 on PC was atrocious.

If that new developer handling the PC version is good and GGPO is in, I'm sold.

This is EXACTLY why I waited. Ive learned to wait to buy any WB games because you always get a better deal in the end. I'm also getting the benefit of my first MKX experience online to be a good one now that they are working on rollback netcode.

Considering the naming of this release and the fact that you have to preorder to receive certain skins, something tells me this version won't be "komplete" when it's all said and done.

Its just skins dog....

And? It's still content. And it's cool content. And it's for characters in the game that DON'T have many costume options compared to everyone else. And it's advertising itself as a "komplete" edition.

No, he's got every right to call BS on that.

Yep. You paid too much if you're in the USA. Unless you bought the season pass?

Nope. They were Gamestop gift cards, I usually don't buy there. I thought it was kind of pricey so long after release.

Great game, though.

Fighting games have a long shelf life. I get decades worth of play out of my fighters. I think this game will have legs for 6 years easy.

Yeah but this is the third time this happened to me. With MK9 I bought the fighter pack like two weeks before Komplete Edition was announced.

Injustice I just bought the main game, again a few weeks before the big edition was announced, and never played the DLC fighters out of bitterness.

Looks like MKX may go the way of Injustice and I just never play the DLC characters, I dunno. I just seem to fall in a bad timing thing with WB's releases and DLC, happened to me on the Batmans too.

That said, yeah I still go back and play all these all the time.

Because I was unaware that there would be a complete edition coming when I purchased it the first time. That's how I got burned. I didn't know I could wait and get everything on one disk later. There was no precedent set before that would have let me know I could wait for a complete package later. Also at the time I was under the impression that I couldn't play online with those that had purchased the complete edition. So yeah, I felt burned.

So they are chopping stuff out of the "Komplete" edition to use as pre-order bonus? So it's not complete at all. These guys are out of control with this stuff.

Why would it be sad for the game to continue to get support?

I am not sure you got me here. Obviously Kombat Pack 2 is included in the Komplete edition. However as an owner of the game since day 1 ,I want to know when this Kombat Pack will be available for people like me.Before or after 1st.

I don't get why people are saying "glad I waited!"

Day 1 the game offered tons of content. There's a great campaign, tons of characters to learn, towers, etc. I payed $40 or so for the PC version and I've put almost 250 hours into it. Online isn't bad when you get two people matched up who have good connections. Even on PC, which is the worst of the bunch, I get in plenty of games almost every day where the lag is at a point where I'm having a blast.

Is it as good as SFIV or KI online? No, absolutely not, but it's still more than playable. There's a huge difference between something that is broken vs. something that is not as good as it could be.

Now we can do all this with even more content and less money spent, I'm glad I waited =)

Sweet, huh?

The shitty thing is it figures they would add a true stage fatality (not a stage-specific brutality) like that with the release of the "komplete" edition of the game meaning it's the first and last they'll be adding. :(

It doesn't even look like PC is getting anything else, based on the trailer.

Bought the game Day 1 with the GCU discount, loved it (almost as much as MK9), and traded it back in for more than I paid for after two weeks, just for the purposes of buying this version.

The way the say "every skin" and "every character" makes me hope there isn't a category that isn't complete... does it have "every stage"? I see they've added the klassic Pit stage.

If it is everything, I'm all over the digital version on day 1 once again.

If they don't release the XL Komplete Edition on PC, they just said FU to about 495,228 ± 15,245 pc owners. The can forget about me buying anymore NR fighters. Next time they should do ports in house or with a competent port team like Nixxes. I hope pc users chew them out for this.

Seems that Kotal, Ferra/Torr, Ermac and Kung Jin are also getting new skins. Hopefully these will come free with the character updates.

Only the DLC characters got screwed skinswise

Is it naive of me to hope that each stage is getting one for the sake of consistency?

Man I feel for you. That's a horror story. Now you know. It's best to wait on WB games.

I knew that it would have something like this sooner or later.

This is one of the main reasons why I don't preorder or buy games on day one like I used to before the 7th generation of consoles, because of companies always pulling this shit with DLC & On-Disc DLC, pre-order DLC, & having microtransactions, GOTY editions, complete editions, etc.

Enough is enough. Why can't we go back to where things used to be before in which everything was on cartridges & discs?

Because other people value different things. Its not that hard to understand. I value the online component of fighting games because that's what gives them longevity for me. The ability to play with other folks. I got burned hard with MK9's netcode and I bought that day one an it never got to an acceptable level. Now they're implementing and testing rollback based netcode, that got me on board. And that's before I even knew when MKXL was coming out.

That's good, but it makes you wonder why the sudden change? Didn't they know this system was far better to begin with? It would have made more sense to go with it from the start. I guess if it hits with the XL edition it'll breath some new life into the game.

I hate that too but what I'm more upset about is the pricing.

I haven't bought any skin or kombat passes, so is it more convenient to buy the kombat passes now or re-buy the game ?(I can't believe I just said that) :/

How long was I asleep last night? We're already on Mortal Kombat 40? Or do they just release a new iteration of the game with slightly more DLC every time a new costume comes out and title it as a sequel?

I dislike this kind of whining comment.

You know full well why we just can't "go back to how things used to be". Times have changed, technology has evolved and standards have moved on.

Its a fact of life.

Yeah there are parts that are shitty, but that's what happens
