But in the end isn't Tevious complaining about queationable DLC practices. Why single out Amiibos then?I couldn't care less about ganondorf amiibo, but locking actual content is going too far, yes.
Amiibos are probably the worst form of DLC ever made.
I don't know why other people don't see them as such, they're worse than horse armor ever was.
But in the end isn't Tevious complaining about queationable DLC practices. Why single out Amiibos then?
im not a conformist by any means in relation to most DLCs but i see the whole Amiino practice as physical DLC and as an extra value for figurine collectors. Physical DLC makes more sense to me than what many of the other publishers get away with.
What do you think of this perespective?
Yes it's gone too far. Not buying this £40 port if half the new features are locked behind 3 different fucking plastic toys.
As someone who hates clutter and doesn't want plastic toys, the fact I can only get these features if I pay for a physical item I won't enjoy is a negative for me.
Like every time I want to use a feature I have to go get out the toy and hold it to the gamepad. Absurd!
Especially when you consider how much cost the physical item adds - production, marketing, distribution, delivery.
(and personally I'd be embarrassed to have one of these on display in my house, so that argument's right out the window)
Yeah. For some reason, amiibo fans can't seem to get it through their heads that some of us absolutely do not want plastic toys cluttering up the place...
Is it really that hard to find a place for them though? I highly doubt Amiibo would be the least of a persons clutter concerns.
It's completely understandable if people don't want to buy physical media for access to game content. I'm very much the opposite, but it's a reasonable detriment in an age where people just want to have their digital content without this kind of workaround.

I understand that, but I just feel that if people can buy physical games and have a place for all the cases and controllers and accessories having a few toys stuffed in a drawer isn't that big of a deal. If your all digital though then I see a more valid point.
In that order your complain has more to do with not having the option to just buy the equivalent extra content digitally than the Amiibo per se. There's always someone that's bount to get disappointed i guess. As someone who hates clutter and doesn't want plastic toys, the fact I can only get these features if I pay for a physical item I won't enjoy is a negative for me.

And we've officially come full circle to the "amiibos are for little kids/adults should be embarrassed" argument.
Honestly? Yeah. I've moved half a dozen times in the last few years and always live in one room. I probably would've picked up one or two amiibo of favourite characters; and kept buying physical games; if I had any practical way to actually do so. But I can't and haven't. And the idea of buying ugly amiibo of characters I don't like but needing to keep them around incase they unlock something cool bothers me.
Yeah, I'm pretty much all digital, if that makes it clearer.
I don't see why Nintendo couldn't just throw these extras up as like DLC on the shop. So stupid to only lock content behind plastic toys.
Why? Just because people don't mind object A doesn't mean that they won't mind object B as well.Well then your argument is perfectly valid. For people who buy Physical and have a problem with "Amiibo Clutter" then I question it. Question though, what is your stance on Amiibo cards(if they were to expand to include all current Amiibos) seemingly cheaper/more space friendly way of going the Amiibo route without the toys?

It's day 1, on-disc DLC locked behind a $12.99 figurine that may become difficult to obtain in the future.
How the hell is anybody actually defending this?
I think we're giving them a free pass just because they're Nintendo. If someone like EA tried this exact same scheme, they'd be publicly lynched until they were apologizing profusely on Twitter and giving the content away for free.
I'm with OP. Locking actual content behind an Amiibo is just scummy bullshit. I'd like to say I hope the Ganandorf and Wolf Link Amiibos bomb hard, because they deserve to, but I sadly know they won't.

.
Amiibo cards as they are make them a bit more problematic for something like this series than they would for animal crossing because you're buying blind packs..
DLC shouldn't be locked behind physical media, that is my stance. So,so far as I am concerned, they are anti consumer.
You already touched upon this I think. The fact that this extra content might be sold out, out of print, etc. is what bothers me. I don't like DLC in general but I would appreciate it if we weren't limited to amiibos for that. But in the end isn't Tevious complaining about queationable DLC practices. Why single out Amiibos then?

Nintendo should offer the same Amiibo incentives digitally then at a reduced price. i think that way everyone would be happy. Would you?
The only new feature is Cave of Shadows which is literally Cave of Ordeals that can only be completed in Wolf Form. Ganondorf 2x Damage is available in Hero Mode which is included in the game, and is refilling hearts/arrows with Amiibo really that big of a deal? Go cut grass in game, it provides the same exact functionality. So unless i'm missing something I'm not seeing a bunch of new features locked behind 3 different plastic toys.
First of all I didn't say that.
Secondly it's still more realistic and widely applicable than 'everyone should be happy we have to buy the toys because then we can show off how much they like Zelda to people visiting our home so stop complaining!'
No I wouldn't be happy. Day one DLC on a £40 port of a 10 year old game for a difficulty setting, give me a break.
The difficulty setting is already in game, its called "Hero Mode." It does everything the Ganondorf Amiibo does and even removes hearts! Amazing right? Best of all its already implemented in the game completely free
You act like Nintendo is giving us some outstanding value here. The reality is it's a money-making scheme. It's a way of getting us to pay a lot more than we normally would for trivial DLC, and at the same time to sell us a bunch of undoubtedly very high-margin toys.Day 1 On-Disc DLC only works for one game. Then the next game you have to buy that Day 1 On-Disc DLC again, then the next game you do that again, and again, and again. That one time 12.99 payment will work for you forever for whatever future game supports it. And Amiibo stock hasn't been a problem for a while now, even the rarer ones are readily available on Amazon.
That's the real issue people should be complaining about.
My question is where's my exclusive content for buying dozens of boxes of these? I demand that my purchase of non-games be rewarded, dammit. How about you scan in 20 box labels for new remix levels in Super Mario 3D Universe? Pretty good value if you think about it.

If Cave of Shadows is so minor then they can include it in the base game
We're not talking about 2x damage, we're talking about the 4x damage that happens when you stack Ganondorf + Hero mode. 4x damage is not available to people who don't own that amiibo.
no don't care about the hearts arrows amiibo
Cave of Shadows is incentive to buy the Amiibo not to buy the game. Remember NONE of this content needed to be included in the game regardless of Amiibo. They are adding this extra content BECAUSE of Amiibo. Amiibo didn't exist this conversation probably wouldnt even be happening because the content wouldn't exist either.
All you asked for in your post was a difficulty mode, you got it with Hero Mode, as someone stated above you can artificially recreate that in a plethora of ways whether its by capping out at Half Heart Containers or not getting hearts at all. All Ganondorf Amiibo does is artificially increase the difficulty, something gamers have been doing to Zelda games since before DLC ever existed. And you clearly stated "Half the new content locked behind THREE Amiibo" With Wolf/Ganondorf out of the way the only ones are Zelda/Link/Sheik so your obviously concerned about hearts/arrows, unless of course your just overexaggerating your claim to just to show how upset you really are.
