I haven't been keeping up with SFV but is there some good high level footage available somewhere to view? Also, is it too early for tier lists to begin to be formulated yet?

Hopefully get around to purchasing this when I have more time, but would like to read a bit on it for now.

Daigo has been uploading his twitch streams to youtube. A lot of matches with some of the best players in the world. A lot of shotos though lol:

Wow, the Ryu army is taking a break today .. so far I haven't seen a single one. And I even managed to get on a 9 win streak, which was ended when a Necalli player that I had beaten earlier outplayed me the second and third time we were matched up.

fucking karin lmao
WLYmBsl.gif

took me waaaaay longer than I expected :p

for anyone that cares, the issue is that having any kind of texture in that stage causes bounce lighting which shows up on the character models, sort of like a fog. So using the typical chroma key green means that it's super easy to cut out the characters... but they're all green tinged.

using white creates a fog over everything

using NO textures fixes that, but photoshop isn't clever enough to distinguish between black on clothes and the black of the scene.

so for characters with black clothes I have to use this sort of middling grey colour which doesn't cause much bounce lighting but is also at the same sort of shade as a lot of midtones on characters... so they become much harder to cut out (like Karin)

hope that was interesting for someone. If I could find a way to turn off bounce lighting it would be perfect...

Have you tried using blue?

If you turned off bounce lighting, wouldn't the characters look kinda plain? I dunno but I like how Ryu and Ken look in your first gif heh.

Have you tried turning off AA completely to make it easier for PS to recognize edges?

Since I'm quite a noob and wanna try for the first time a fighting stick what would you recomend me for SFV PS4?

I'm loking for

Hori Fighting Stick mini4 - 40€

or

Madcatz Street Fighter V Arcade FightStick Alpha - 75€

Also notice that I wanna try one 'cause I miss almost 2/3 of the qcb being the player one 'cause the movement feels unnatural to my hand with a PS4 controller.

Any other stick recomendation since I don't wanna be a pro player... just a competitive one?

Take a look at the Venom Arcade PS4 stick it'S around 95€. It's not too light and feels sturdy and the buttons are ok for a beginner. You can easily mod it later for better buttons and joystick if you decide to take it more seriously and it will still be lower in price than all the other high end fightsticks.

Another day, another rage quitter. Krakmer's the name. The match was very laggy but he was quite happy to play it out until he got beaten. Boop-boop.

A Ken player RQing? That is a new one.

I would go with that Alpha stick as it is bigger and has bigger buttons. While I have heard that Hori Mini is okay stick it just looks way too small.

As for other sticks there is Hori RAP4 Kai which goes for around 100€-150€ and it is a really good stick. Also if you are only going to play SFV (or USFIV or Skullgirls on PS4) you could also get older Madcatz stick for PS3 since the game supports those.

I played some SF earlier this morning and I decided I'd try normal survival mode with characters other than Karin for the fight money. I managed to complete Ryu's thirty matches, but I lost a Ken run to Necalli at 29 because my controller disconnected for some reason.

Oh my God

Ken hits so hard his opponent's children must be feeling the aftershocks. His buttons aren't Nash/Bison/Chun tier, but they're damn good too. I literally quake in my boots now whenever a Ken shows up in ranked. Karin and Cammy must be like glass statues to him. For a good minute I considered learning a secondary Ken and I felt ashamed of myself lol.

Those smaller sticks gives a very different feel from the higher quality/bigger ones and could turn you off from using a stick, if you don't want to pay much, I'd recommend getting a used high quality stick instead those two. Most of them have exchangeable parts so don't worry about things breaking/being too old.

Took me two weeks of about 1 try a day to complete Chun's hard survival, decided to try using Ken yesterday and I got to 76 on the first try at hell mode, AI is free to Ken.

Venom is a good choice aswell if you want a solid base that is easy to mod.

I don't know which character(s) you're using, but I'm working with Bison. Today I decided to hunt for options against Nash in the training mode.

Here's what I came up with regarding MS.

A. Standing Roundhouse can beat and even crush counter Moonsault. It seemed easiest to land against Ex. MS.

B. Crouching Fierce is also a good anti-MS option. You can beat it cleanly or even trade if later input.

C. Jump Roundhouse or Fierce is a good way to intercept MS.

D. Ex Head Press wins if out before kick (slash) animation, otherwise trade or loss if too late.

The thing about A-D is that it is all pretty easy when you know what to expect, but it is important to me (as Bison user) to develop strong R&R (Read & React) to pull this stuff off against good-great Nash players so that MS pressure is one less thing to be concerned about.

E. All versions of MS are positive on block, so do not attempt to attack after blocking. Of course, V-Reversal is an option to avoid getting to that point.

F. If you can react quickly (before kicks), V-Trigger (pause) then dash forward. You can punish Nash while Ex.MS is still active. If you have CA available, there you go.

Thanks for the advice. I'm playing Rashid but I'll have to try his equivalent options.

Man its so disappointing, I spend so much time in training and doing survival only to go online and barely play because of nerves. It drives me nuts.

You just need to spend a lot more time playing real players and those nerves will go away.

Just play ranked for a while.

FT5 or 10 is much more enjoyable. The fragmentation you have playing ranked makes it pretty difficult to get into a groove

Maybe if you could get ranked games as fast as SFIV

Just hit Apply Settings in the Network Match Fight Request Settings. The game literally took over a minute to load after that. Pretty sure it was waiting for some server response that just wasn't coming. Same thing happened after leaving lobbies yesterday.

Ffs fix your servers Capcom.

Can someone explain to me exactly what the season pass is/does? Do I need it to unlock extra characters or can I buy them with fight money?
