Should... should I even bother doing a detailed review? It would just echo every other SE review that bills down to this being the best iPhone ever, the best 4-incher ever, the best value iPhone ever, and the most 1-handed friendly iPhone...

Basically...

If you have anything older than a 6S, wants new iPhone, and prefer smaller phones...

GET THIS PHONE

If you have a 6S and want something smaller, consider getting this phone ONLY if it won't put you at a loss, or you don't give a shit about spending more. if that's the case...

If you are in the market for your first iOS device and need a phone...

GET THIS PHONE

I am not 100% familiar with how iCloud works for backups, so I thought I'd ask here and get an answer of you guys :)

I am buying an SE for my wife today, so last night I performed a backup on iCloud from her phone (Settings > iCloud > "Backup Now" option). The phone is a surprise for her, so I did it on the quiet.

Anyway, when we set the phone up tonight, will there be a "Log in to iCloud" option when you turn the SE on? The iCloud backup was about 15gb last night, mostly photos. Assuming there is an option like that, will that just download all phone contacts, photos etc to the SE?

What about WhatsApp? Does that backup on iCloud like it does on GoogleDrive?

Thanks!

Yes it'll do it with the AppleID

Not sure about whatsapp

Decided to try my luck at the apple store and they ran out of space grey models. :( :( :(

They let me order one online there and then though so I should be getting one on the 12th.

I must say though the 6S was tempting after trying it out but I just can't get over the design (plus I wouldn't have the money for it even if I changed my mind).

I got the 64 GB model. :) :) :)

Well, yes, it does have MIMO and LTE-A which this phone does not have, but that doesn't mean it's a slouch either. Some people were saying the LTE would cap at 30 Megs, NOPE or Wi-Fi at 50, NOPE!

Even at 30 or 50.. for a mobile device do you really need anything faster?

The technically correct answer is yes, but the truth is... When considering how speedy even 20 is, plus data caps for many people...

No, not really; lack of latest wireless in this phone is a complete non-issue for 99 percent of us.

I freaking love this thing.

Snagged a 64GB Gold at Verizon. Man, I'm glad I went with gold. It looks niiiiice. Although did Apple change the gold color this year? Looks slightly different from my wife's gold 5S.

Coming from a 6 to an SE the only thing I sorta miss is screen quality but outside of that (and even then the screen is still great), man this phone is great. Love the size, the design is incredible, fast...so good.

Feels like I can actually appreciate my iPad mini 2 again.

Yeah been on android.. thinking hard about switching over to this phone. Small form factor phone with 2016 specs are pretty damn rare.

Hmm, wouldn't mind some pictures of the gold in the wild, if you don't mind! I always rock black/space gray, but with this phone I'm leaning either towards silver or gold.

I played with this at a Best Buy.

I'm conflicted. I have a 5s and this just seems too much of the same.

One my favorite things of new phones is getting a new form factor. While I do love the 5 design and size, it seems tired to me already. Weird since I was excited about this previously.

This. Jobs would have never allowed this travesty of a design shortcut. This phone is the spitting image of Mr. Thrifty, Tim Cook.

What about Rose Gold?

On another note, this is definitely my GBA replacement.

Just got a rose gold 64gb. Came from a gold 5s. It's nice change and looks better on the SE than the 6. Looks copper in most lighting but changes throughout the day. I was worried it might be too pink for me but that's not the case.

In my disappointment about not being jailbroken, I completely forgot about the emulators that could be loaded via browsers. Yay!

What websites do you go to for emulation?

There are 3rd party registration stores, date tricks and stuff like that, but the best way is to simply legitly sideload your apps with Xcode.

Unless you want to tweak the actual OS or phone lock, there truly is like no reason to jailbreak anymore.

Gah, I need to look into sideloading. Not looking forward to it though, given I don't have a Mac :/

How do I download Provenance?

A date/hack profile from a trusted site (AT YOUR OWN RISK), one of the main paid UDID store programs (iffy, but will cost you money for outdated software), or simply follow the easy directions on the site I linked, or the vid below, and sideload it yourself and sign it yourself for free with Xcode!

Seriously, do the right thing and don't waste money... Build and sideload it yourself!

Heulen, could you try to measure the standby battery life? That is if you can manage to keep your hand off it for a while ;)
How much it drops over the night would be fine for example.

Mine will not arrive until next week sadly.

That is a hard thing to ask... I am organizing apps!

That being said, I am grooving to Apple Music, while playing Miitomo, and this is the battery life; haven't plugged it in since 2 hours ago.

I am falling in line with all other reports, battery is incredible.

I'm going back and forth, currently on a 4 right now, got it day one so I've had it a while. I was 100% set on waiting for the 7 until that rumour started that their 2017 release was going to be the major one rather than this years. I would wait until they announce the 7 before deciding but at that point, I would probably just wait as I've already been waiting a while now (I was originally going to get a 6s but talked myself out of it). Glad you all are enjoying yours though!

Fine, i'm gona get it. First ever iphone and contract with a real cellular provider "tmobile" forever have only had virgin mobile.

Will get this and then trade for the iphone7 when it comes out.

Question when it does happen how would I transfer my stuff from the old phone to the new one ?

iTunes! If you do a full backup through iTunes and mount it to the new phone, you will lose NOTHING and will be up and running in as little as under an hour with a filled 64GB phone.

Remember though that tmo is currently doing a buy 1 get 1 half off for the SE, so you COULD get 2 for 750 USD and split the cost with someone to get a 64GB SE for only 375!

But I can't afford to pay in full only in monthly payments

Hey if I plan to trade in when iphone7 comes out, can the 16gb not be that bad then ?

Wasn't true for me - I somehow lost some apps doing an iTunes transfer.

I would like to know is there yellow tint at the top of the display, because both 5 and 5s had it and SE is using same IPS panel. And i saw it on few SE unboxing videos too.

Thanks.

This does have LTE band 12, right? I noticed in certain areas on my commute I would get some signal on my 6, but it stayed no service almost the entire drive on the se. I'm still getting one bar of 4g at work, but it's actually allowing me to browse the web and sending iMessages relatively quick, compared to my 6 where I could not browse at all.

Heavily leaning on returning it, but I'm not sure yet. I guess T-Mobile just needs to roll out so more towers around this area or something.

has calmed down a bit.
The phone feels comically small after my 4 years of using big phones. The camera is just pathetic after the last two years on Lumia and Samsung flagship phones. Like, I feel like I'm missing something, a feature or button I'm not pressing that will make this thing take photos on par with the hype iPhone cameras get.

That said, this thing has incredible battery life so far. Truly impressive, almost phablet level endurance in such a small package. Also, the size is super convenient for a device that will be everywhere with me. And I haven't had any issues with typing like some of the reviewers have complained about. So far, the size hasn't hampered my workflow. The screen is quality enough, and of course this thing flies and easily handles anything I throw at it.

Have you looked at your pictures on a screen other than the phone screen? I have had family members believe that their big screen android phones took better pictures than the my smaller screen iPhone simply because they're looking at the pics on their large high-res over-saturated screens but when the pictures got uploaded to a computer and you were looking at them on the same screen it became clear that the iPhone pictures were clearer, had less noise/artifacts and had better low-light performance.

Yeah, I was hoping it was just the low res screen, but I uploaded them to my onedrive and they still look like crap. Very disappointing.

I had my 5S for almost two years now. I got robbed a few days ago though, so I'm in the perfect place to pick the SE now. I really hated the battery life of the 5S, I remember charging my phone 3 times a day, luckily the SE has a better battery.

Mophies for the 5/SE are pretty cheap if you end up needing more battery.
