Is there any real, live co-op in the game? I've researched and found that apparently there's a browser version that has co-op, but the mobile version just has faux-op (lol, just came up with that term out of nowhere), with some asynchronous world bosses and such.

Thanks!

There's no real co-op in either, but both have asynchronous raid bosses. In the browser game, you need to team up with your party to take turns inflicting increasing damage. If you attake within 3 minutes of the previous person, then they attack the raid boss and do some damage for you and it chains. I think the biggest chain I saw was a 30 hit combo before I got to go. In the mobile game, you *can* do the same (ally hops in and attacks), but you're generally powerful enough to kill a raid boss by yourself. The mobile game has a stun system where you can force the enemy to not take a certain number of turns in a row, giving you more attacks to kill it. I've been playing Unchained since launch and I've died to a raid boss once in that entire time. And even then was because I was rushing and chose a bad ally medal.

Oh, but that being said, you do need to get in a party ASAP. That's a massive help.

Hmm.. okay, thanks! And will there be a browser version releasing in the US, as well? Can players take their characters between both platforms?

Lastly, the gacha system seems.. strange. I watched a video of a player pulling a 5* Mulan, 4* Bambi, and 8 others in a 10 Pull, but what do these signify? From what I can tell, these aren't actual characters available for play or assist, but just another combo attack for the player character? That seems rather disappointing, if so.

Almost certainly not and not really? You can transfer your look, but [chi] and Unchained play completely different, all the systems are different, heck, even the way you level up is different. Stars are rarity with six star being the highest. There are currently 516 medals in Unchained. Subtract the 42 non attack medals and divide by six. That's how many characters you are saying should be added. This isn't Disney Infinity. Plus, I think when you see the actual attacks you won't mind.

There's some 'precedents' w.r.t. gacha games, so much so that people jumping from one to another can get a sense of how lucky/unlucky they are, and how jacked/baked/shitty a system is just from stuff like star rankings out of a gacha, etc.

The two most common 'systems' would be a star system, where gacha rewards go from 1-6 stars with 6 being the rarest (some games have 1-5 or 1-7 or whatever), and another with e.g. N, R, SR, SSR going from most to least common. So basically if you pull an SSR you know you lucked out.

Generally speaking, of course. Each game ends up having its own quirks, overpowered/underpowered rewards, etc. despite rankings.

Oh, I should clarify, I'm a gacha freak. I've put thousands of hours in between Brave Frontier, Terra Battle, Chain Chronicle, Dragon Blaze, and more. I know all about the ratings system.

What I'm asking about is why there are characters like Mulan, Bambi, and countless other represented in the gacha draws, when, in actuality, they don't even make any sort of appearance in battle whatsoever.

Considering that this is coming off the back of a massive patch and a ten hour maintenance session, both of which changed the way the game plays (AGAIN), I think they were more likely working out the final gameplay than anything. Game is completely different than 1.0 and all the better for it.

Asked in the community thread, so I'll ask here:

Are there any questions you have about the game? I've been playing [chi] and UX since each was launched, so I'm fairly familiar with them both.

late replay(i was busy playing FFRK) but is the chain of memories combat still in?

Because why wouldn't you use character art? What's the alternative?

It's turn based and a bit more creative than CoM.

Well, in other gacha games, when you get a 5* character, it's exciting because you can use those characters in battle, even set them as your leader and show them off to your friends.

In this, a guy got a 5* Mulan, but all a 5* Mulan does is give the player a strong attack to use in battle, devoid of Mulan in any way, right? Just a bit anticlimactic that the gacha is just for getting newer and stronger attacks for the player's character.

It would have been awesome to summon Mulan to dish out a cool looking attack, for example, similar to how the summons worked in the other KH games.

Even in Chain of Memories, using a Cloud, Mickey, Donald, or Goofy card summoned them for an attack. For a game where players are actually using premium currency to summon characters, sometimes for even real money, it would have been a lot more alluring if these characters were actually represented in battle.

Either way, I'm still excited to try the game; I just wish they tried a bit harder.

Yeah, I can see the disappointment but it's already 1.2 gigs and fully evolved equips are always nice to look at.

About how long is it? I don't think I'm fussed to play it and will just watch all the scenes online if possible. I was also confused like some others thinking the movie in 2.8 covered this whole game.

Only mobile game I like better is Brave Exvius. I think it is much more fun than TB, P&D, you name it.

Errrrrrrrrrrrr. I dunno. Brave Frontier is really awful, so I don't see how that can be much better. The sprites are really pretty though! TB > *!!!!!!!!

If only TB had ANY content... :(

The battle system is very cool.

It's been a desert for a while now, but HOPE IS COMING! We should be getting a bunch of new content from the end of April until June/July or so at the very least. Other than the usual recode characters they've been adding now and then, they're adding a set of 10 new characters in April, with some new affinity stuff. There'll be a new Descent battle event with Dragon Kings, they're finally going to release the 4 chapter Matsuno World with Sakimoto music and Kozaki character designs, and they'll be adding Chapter 35+ as well. It's like an expansion pack!

Well, there's about 450 missions in the Japanese version that will carry over so it takes a while to get through all of it.

Plus there's weekly missions that change, and material hunting.

How interesting is the story for a KH fan?

More interesting towards the later missions when characters who will actually influence Kingdom Hearts 3 are introduced.

It starts out as a cute game where you're having fun travelling through Disney worlds but then reality hits and everything hurts ... so it's a pretty normal KH game.

How time consuming is this?

FFRK takes my time, not sure I can play both and do them both justice.

Still, I've been waiting fot this for ages!

Damn it's that significant? Man I still don't think I can do it. I love KH but I've spent so long on the series in the past few years just catching up with everyone else and I need to play other games.

Looks like CoM, which makes me excited. Miss that style of gameplay.
I hear they changed from cards to coins? I wonder why. Guess cards get a bad rap these days eh?
Waiting on Brave Exvius.
And Legends: Toki no Suishō (aka Dimensions 2)
And Grandmasters
And Mobius
And Rise of Mana.
And Schoolgirl Strikers, cause what the fuck Square made an expensive as all fuck (if you judge from the copious amount of voice acting) Neptunia game.
You know, I always wondered why the one dedicated RPG site I follow would just randomly break out into tweets going "LOOK AT THIS SCHOOLGIRL GACHA" amidst a sea of FF related content.

- KHX's battle uses cards while medals are used in this title.

Nomura: We have incorporated the vision of extending this title overseas. Adjustments have been made using this point of view. When we allow America players to play the test version, the cards in KHX caused it to be recognized as a "card game". While we receive good reviews on the actual gameplay, we don't think that it is positive to have that as the first impression. The first impression of a game is important, so this is the result of exploring an alternate to the card system.

- I see. Design wise, on the smartphone they are easier on the eyes than cards.

Nomura: That's right. Like I've said, the controls are renewed for the smartphone. Medals have frames that gives you a better feel of direct control when touched as compared to cards. It is very compatible with the new battle interface where you slide them into slots and turning them at the bottom left screen. As well as the menu controls, this feeling of direct control is a point that we are particular with in the renewal.

Not excited for this at all - mostly because of the "plot".

So, you have a rather decent story in BBS and a trainwreck in DDD explaining how Xehanort
wants to experience the mystery and story of the Keyblade War and also look what lies beyond it and its results.
So, in essence, setting it up as one of the better mysteries in KH3 we were supposed to find out about the whole ancient KH universe as a whole (which BBS did a good job hinting at).

Aaaaand, then they bring out a mobile game throwing 80% of those questions and mysteries out of the gate and building up YET ANOTHER "important side story" we need to experience KH3 to its fullest. Meh.

Does this game end? Besides the updates the put out, if I sit down and play it for x amount of time (pun intended), will I "finish" it?

And how much of my time will I spend to get to the story bits? Is it hours, or weeks?

Cool. Will watch cutscenes on youtube at the very least. I'll give the game a try, but I have trouble seeing myself not despising it.

It's not finished, so...

It's not an MMO per se, but it helps to think of it like one.
