Persona Community Thread |OT8| Coming Winter 2014

Anybody remember the Sayoko Uehara social link from Persona 4? She's the seductive nurse in the hospital. It was refreshing to meet her after encountering so many depressing social links.... I'm looking at you, Naoki Konishi!!!!

I loved Sayoko's S-link. Especially how they made a flirty character better than Rise in her own game. :p
It was especially good when she offers to give you a massage, only for it to go to black... and it's just a practical one for your arm or something! You don't even get any extra points for it. XD

Nah. Daevious is actually right.

Fuuka's awfulness at cooking is actually there to resolve at the end the fact that she doesn't really need to learn how to cook and that she only felt like doing so because she was insecure about her skills in computers due to it being traditionally seen as an unfeminine hobby. That's why seeing her on the last day shows her wanting to start up a computer club for next year.

Really emphasized with Fuuka here, honestly. Having a talent that people consider unfeminine and being judged for it is harsh.

Funny thing is, you're supposed to ignore her advances to gain the most points for the link.

The first 3 ranks of her social link are legendary, but everything after that was pretty dry.

Thank you!

I though I was going crazy for a second, although Funyarinpa is still right that it farts around with cooking longer than it has any right to.

I like Sayoko too, she's a good use of the 'seductive nurse' trope that gives some measure of depth to her character.

I admit, a lot of the s-links in P3 didn't hit me. Might've been the total lack of VA for those specific characters?

Though I did feel
horrible at the first female s-link (Chihiro) knowing that I was going to follow the guide to the end and just move on to the next one. Repeat for Yuko.

A question for FES/P3MC:
can you date Maya? I want to see Kenji get NTR'd

Maya isn't Kenji's teacher; she's Ms. Toriumi instead. You don't date her but she does develop a crush on P3MC and her discovery that the student she has a crush on is the person she spent her time bitching to online is the funniest scene in the whole game.

+1 for not liking Fuuka. I just find her character incredibly boring. The whole "I want to help everyone always!" is awful, in my opinion. I need characters to have a bit of anger to them.

Naoto sucks

Naoto sucks, Yukiko is queen and anyone that says otherwise doesn't matter.

Did I win?

Just give him Catsuit Naoto and he can proudly hold the title of worst Naoto avatar*.

In PGaf anyway >_>

Well, these are some terrible opinions.

ur on my shitlist

Literally the worst party member. By a good margin. She has no foibles. When
Natsuki left
, she should have cheered, not cried.

Followed by Yukiko, who is also awful.

Also, by spoilering that, I've just remembered we need to discuss spoiler policies. FUN TIMES.
After many moons of consideration, my thoughts are as follows:

In regards to Persona 3 and Persona 4, I feel we should show some degree of consideration. Things like character deaths, or the reveal of the Persona 4 antagonist, should be spoiler marked. I don't think it matters how old the games are, because Persona is a series whose popularity has only really come into play in a big way since the release of P4G. And we can all say "But P4 came out in 2008!", but we all know that a lot of people first got into it with P4G, including many people in here. As far as things like super-bosses, I personally wouldn't consider them a spoiler, but it's difficult to cover everything in the games, so just use a bit of common sense. And if it bothers someone, then just spoiler it. It's not a big deal to highlight a word and press the spoiler button.

In my opinion, anybody should be able to enter this thread, and talk about Persona, without having the story spoiled. There is a moment in P4 that is a lot better if you haven't been spoiled, so in my opinion we shouldn't.

In regards to Persona 5, after discussing it with Sophia, I think that maybe we should say that all officially released media (As in, by Atlus, not leaks or whatever) is fair play. At a certain point we're going to want to talk about why scrunchie-chan is the most kawaii party member.

Whatever we decide upon, I want people to follow it, please. I don't care if some members don't like it, and I don't care what the rules are in other forums. What we decide in here is what goes. And I'll do my best not to say things that get me banned, also.

Sorry for bringing down the mood, love you all!

From wikipedia: "The sartorius muscle is the longest muscle in the body and arises by tendinous fibres from the anterior superior iliac spine, running obliquely across the upper and anterior part of the thigh in an inferomedial direction."

Birthday isn't until Friday, but to my surprise, my colleague hooked me up with one of those Persona 5 bags that they were giving away back at E3 2015 (and also some Lucina promo cards from the Fire Emblem cipher series TCG via the Nintendo magazine).

Time to bring it down to my local gaming convention in September/October to promote the crap out of Persona 5=P

I'm feeling an urge to play Persona again. Is Mind 0 as awful as everyone says? It's either that or wait for TMS in June.

For me, P4 sticks consistently at a solid 9 (except for Oct 30th, where it dips to a 4), while P3 has more peaks and valleys.

I guess I'm simple minded enough, P4's 10/30 got a ton of chuckles out of me lol

P3 is split into two distinct parts

first half: borderline sleep-inducing until the full moon
second half: torture to spend a second without getting to the next full moon (in a good way)

No you aren't simple minded, 10/30 is legitimately one of Persona 4's highlights. Literally every scene is comedic gold.

Me three. I liked that entire day as well. Don't know why a lot of people don't like it, though maybe I'm used to it from seeing it in anime and other games and have developed an immunity. Whatever it is, I don't mind it as much as others seem to around these parts.

No!!!!! Don't play it!!!! Just dont!!! I have it on my Vita! Mind Zero is a very blatant and bad Persona clone.

Surely you're referring to Persona 4 alone and not Golden, correct?

...

Correct?

----

Anyway, on the subject of terrible anime cutscenes, I came to the conclusion during my last Golden playthrough that I didn't actually enjoy any of the anime cutscenes in Persona 4 period. The animation is rough, it's jarring compared to the visuals of the rest of the game, and the sudden need to sync voices with lip flaps makes the voice acting take a nose dive.

I think the more simplistic presentation of Persona 3 and 4 is actually a boon to the English voice acting, and I'm actually a little nervous about P5's increased emphasis on fancier scenes because of this.

That animated scene was hot garbage, but the sound effect when Naoto's boobs bounce is goddamn incredible.
