Nights of Azure |OT| Star Crossed (Lesbian) Lovers

Does anyone happen to know what item no. 96 is? It looks like a bone. It's the only item in the game i'm missing and I can't seem to find it.

EDIT: Found a JP list. Use Google Translate if you need help: http://ds-can.com/yorukuni/data/equip.html

2nd Edit: Platinumed Nights of Azure. I would rate it 6.5/10 overall. It's pretty neat in premise (the setting and basis of the story), the music is phenomenal, designs are pretty good, servan system is interesting, the end game twist is awesome, and Arnice is cool. However, the story/presentation of the story totally sucks, there's unanswered questions, Lilysse is one of the absolute dullest characters ever (which is a MAJOR problem for this game considering it's about saving your love), combat is basic, and the difficulty is either brain dead easy or one shot impossible. Nights of Azure seemed really cool on paper, but I don't think they quite nailed it as much as I wanted them to. Not terrible, but not very good either.

What's a good strat for the last arena battle? Seemslike I'm getting wrecked when she buffs herself.

EDIT: I just did it. spamming those servan's like crazy and stunlocking. I'm not sure if i'm going for the plat. those quest/killing are a huge grind.

You should probably check your servans and equipment, as leveling actually can only do so much. Make sure you destroy the thing that spawns that
heals her HP and utilize block when that whole flashy thing commences
Servans I'd recommend are the Doll's summon skill which cast a barrier which protects you from projectiles, the healing little cute fairy thing, and two DPSERS. I used mine servant and made him self destruct using a technique stated earlier which makes him respawn instantly, and anything else. It was more of an
annoying fight than anything since those things heal her hp so dam quickly so you have to destroy em asap. Make sure to transform as much as you can with demon form and slam her! let me know how it goes.

It went well! Watched as my wife finally beat him. It was the healing that did the difference. Now to grind the last trophies for the platinum :)

My Amazon copy has finally arrived! I have been looking forward to playing this game for I while since I really like the concept of monsters fighting besides you like in Folklore.

I beat the game and got an "ending". Now I need to
do some quests in "sequential order", I can also level up to 11 now. Anyone know where to go to farm blue blood? I want to get to level 10 or 11 but I'm not sure what's the best farming spot.

Also that fucking cat, I knew it!

1. Start the final scenario again (but don't fight the final boss yet) [possible spoilers for others]
Start opening the seals and fight whichever boss(es) repeatedly. You can combine this with quests if you're also going for trophies.

2. At some point during the post-game scenarios
you'll fight a new boss (Mistral)
If/once you can defeat this one easily, keep doing that until you're satisfied. This can net you ~120k blood in ~1-2 minutes, so it's also good for leveling new Servans fast. If you have trouble with this, refer to 1.

Looks like it's back up on Amazon and still eligible for 20% off prime discount. I have been redeemed. I should know better than to sleep on preordering these niche titles if I want physical.

I'm still early on the game so I won't comment on gameplay yet but I have to say that this games has bad performance issues, with no enemy on screen I perform my special move and the framerate stutters and there's noticeble pop-ins even though there isn't much on the maps to begin. I'm assuming it's worse on PS3 and Vita so its for the better that we only got the PS4 version. I also stopped using the right stick because controlling the camera sucks, rotating it is super slow and there's no option to speed it up and although I like how the game zooms in and out the camera it should be gradual instead just having three positions.

So going into
those boss rooms to grind in the last dungeon won't lock me out of the True Ending? I heard there's a cutscene if you go back to the Blue Altar so I figured you had to do all of the True End stuff before you went back.

Kind of disappointed that I had to cancel my preorder for this game. I just don't have the money right now to be spending on it, especially when so many good games are coming out currently.. :(

I don't recall
the cut scene upon entering the Blue Altar again to be different from the first time, only the cut scene after the final boss, after clearing the post-game scenarios = "True Ending" (Fighting the final boss before clearing those extra scenarios will result in the normal ending again.)

Alright, thanks for the tips.

Hopefully I should have it completed sometime tonight.

I know this pain all to well. Just returned mine today. With Darksouls 3, Ratchet and Clank, and Bravely Second coming soon, I think its best I hold off abit.

I have another question. I remember reading that in order to get the True Ending you
also have to re-answer all the questions that the Maiden of Jorth asks of you every time you perform the Desden/Blood Offering (this apparently resets after you beat the game so you can rechoose all the right answers). Do I need to reach level 11 in order to get all the questions or am I fine at just level 10?

How exactly do you equip the blood sword? Or is it just replacing the original sword on the d-pad?

Equip the sword normally, then press the button on the D pad to equip the sword again while it's already equipped. This will swap it between its normal and blood forms.

Ah, thanks. I was wondering how exactly I had managed to equip it previously, but couldn't figure out how to reproduce it.

Complete all scenarios after clearing the game once and beat the final boss again to get the true ending. After you get the true ending once you can modify Lilysse's affection level at the Altar of Jorth to view any of the five endings by beating the final boss again (first three are the normal endings, level 4 is the true ending, level 5 is a hidden ending that doesn't have anything tied to it).

Personally I just recommend looking up all the endings on Youtube once you get the true ending.

Thanks a lot.

I think that clears everything up for me.

I've seen some references to drakengard 3 on this thread so I took the plunge and just ordered this game. I really hope its good.

So. Me and my wife got the platinum today. Goof game and well worth the time invested :)
That said, I will go trade this in towards my Fire Emblem pre-order because it's quite pricy over here and I have no friends who would be interested in Nights of Azure.

Being 3 days i'm playing the game..i like it a lot ..
The amount of quests never let up. should i just ignore them a proceed with the story ?

I have so many double items in my inventory.i'm guessing selling is the right thing to do ?

yeah sell the items you don't need. And the quests will never let up but the fact you're doing them will make it easier for you to acquire the trophy for it. And you'll have to do a lot for it haha. Feel free to do em now or later, you'll have to do it sooner or later for the trophy ;)

Quests are endless, although you may run out of Day-time quests every now and then. If possible focus on quests that reward Blood.

Selling makes sense, because inventory space is limited and you'll likely get better versions of items later on.

SO I beat the post-game stuff yesterday and got the True Ending.
I liked that it ended on a happy note but they didn't really address what the Nightlord did after. I mean Arnice became the Nightlord and seemingly has it all under control but in the normal ending I got first time around she did that but the Nightlord said he was going to come back eventually anyway (this is also the ending where Lylysse didn't return to the hotel and it showed the cat talking about how the girls made their own choices and how he would watch over the world for a time but would eventually come back with Arnice walking up behind him after he transforms back into a cat).

As for the whole friends/lovers things there's really no room for interpretation imo. No one says things like how they can't live without someone's smile without loving them. And how they don't care if the world gets destroyed if their "friend" is no longer in it. There are so many lines said in the game, where if one of the character's sex were switched, no one would claim that they're just friends. While there is a sentiment that people jump too quickly to say that two female friends are in love in stories, this isn't one of them where that applies imo. It's crystal clear what the intent is here.

It's kinda confusing and needs more clarification, unless someone has a analysis about it, she either will inevitably become the Night Lord and destroy the world or she has it under control because of her love for Lilysse.

As for the whole friends thing too, people want explicitness and it wasn't explicit where they were called lesbians. It was though to the point people referred to them as lovers and that was plain as sight to see! No argument there ;0

So i guess it's normal that i've done SO many quests i'm drowning in money .

My review.

Female Lovers, Demons, and Life

Few games/developers tread new territories and Gust did exactly that. Was it perfect? Far from it, but the experience, the effort, and the love put into this game shows more so compared to other games Gust has developed.
Slight spoilers ahead

Let's get things straight (or not) the two lead female characters, are in fact, in love. They are never called lesbians, or look at as strange, in this universe, this seems to happen as naturally as a boy and a girl falling in love in our reality. I commend the game for not making the main character a self loathing character regarding their sexuality. Instead we are provided something more positive. Two women simply in love with no politics behind it, and no hidden agenda. This is what the writers probably wanted. Enjoy their relationship for what it is, love, and don't think any further than that.

Combat: Pretty good
Moving past the little ramble, the combat works. It's very fun and I found myself highly entertained fighting both bosses and fiends. There is no jump button and I often felt myself wishing for one, there are very slight frame rate drops in high crowded areas, but other than that, the game plays like Drakengard 3, or Dynasty Warriors. In other words, its very fun.

Story: Enjoying it immensely.
Before going into this game, I knew there might be some poor writing or mistranslated parts. The game is low budget and was released to the NA (thankfully) very quickly with no english dub (which would have been perfect). The market for these types of game are very small. I appreciated though the effort put into the game's story and the characters. Each character has an interesting quirk about them that makes you ponder about them before the whole event transpired of the world ending. Arnice, the main lead heroine inspires the most questions. Within the story, after completing each chapter, you receive sort of a back story for that chapter that explores the relationship between Arnice, Lilysse, and what exactly happened before all of this. The writing isn't amazing or great, but you understand the idea, you get what's going on and you feel for the characters. The writing in the end gets the job done. It's not Xseed, but its definitely not Namco Bandai's translation of The Legend of Heroes series back on PSP.

Graphics: Great but models could have been better.
Don't get me wrong, the character models look fantastic, when in cut scenes though that require immense displays of emotions between the characters, it's sometimes not there. Once again, this is where one must understand the characters emotion in their dialogue or speech and feel for them rather than looking at the character models as representations of the emotion, because its not there. Environment, art design though is superb. You really feel like you're in their world with all the work they put into to the environment and the art style this game has.

Sound: Absolutely, positively, incredible. Google Nights of Azure sound track and you'll see why. It's Ys and the Atelier series melted together in a big pot with some vampire blood to create an amazingly unique soundtrack.

Conclusion:

I enjoyed this game very much and would recommend it to those with an open mind, and not to those who are looking for the greatest adventure or story or action of all time. Don't expect Devil May Cry, God of War, or the grand nature of Final Fantasy. This is a very sweet adventure that has a lot of established lore within it already. The relationship between the two main heroines are one of my favorite in a series and ignoring the questionable translation issues sometimes, and the character models, you'll find a real gem.

In level 5 now but I would like to know if you can reach max level (10?) by just playing the story. Or do I need to grind for that?

You'll need to grind, just moving through the game won't get you to max level.

It doesn't take that long to do it end-game though.

Do I need to finish the story before I can get to level 9?

Spent about an hour this morning doing quests, gotta be getting close to 300. It really isn't taking long to knock them out. There are times when I can finish two in ~30 seconds. Getting a lot of fetish drops while doing them too.

Yay, getting it transferred from another Best Buy that has one copy even though it's sold out. I don't have Amazon Prime so no 20% off for me.

I'm right on the start of Chapter 7, is anything missable before kill the last boss? Or you can continue playing anywhere after the ending?

Don't think so. Just to be safe you should complete any character scenarios you have left.

Complete the game to get one of the
three
normal endings.

Then load your clear data and
complete all the new scenarios then defeat the final boss again
to get the True Ending.

I've had a blast playing this over the weekend and completed the main story last night with a lot still left to do. While the game is generally on the easy side, a few of the bosses will provide a good challenge.

Same thing happened to me, I don't remember exactly what I had to do but just keep playing and you'll be called to the dream eventually.
