Or maybe we realize that our beloved franchise and company is on the verge of bankruptcy. This is their final fantasy - if they fuck this up, it's no more leading fighting game.

It's a scary thing, and comments like that (which are both ignorant and unhelpful) continue to provide a schism between fan base and company.

Did last year's EVO seriously only have 2.2k entrants?

That many new entrants is kind of crazy. New game, new community I guess. Hope it stays that high.

iirc SFIV continued to grow in EVO attendance so safe bet it will.

Yea that's a big jump and it's only going to grow. Insane really. Not to mention other games are getting some solid numbers as well. Definitely can't hate on the growth of Evo year after year.

Can't wait to see viewership numbers after it's all said and done.

Don't be so hasty, Infiltration did have some trouble against Tokido last week, hell, even Gamerbee was almost going to win this.

I don't really think he will win EVO, everyone will work Nash match-up really hard.

Street Fighter killing it, two Smashes still doing great numbers, and most surprisingly Pokken seems to be doing great. Sounds like a hectic EVO.

Wow. That first post cut deep.

Poor ban on the first post.

Yea I feel like Infiltration has setup a HUGE TARGET on himself , by consistently winning every tournament till now.

Either he is very confident with his Nash ( Which almost everyone is going to be studying and finding ways to work around ). Or he has something up his sleeve for EVO/Capcom Cup.

Like Infiltration hasn't already mastered every character lol

He has pocket picks better than 99% of all of our mains.

I wonder how MK X is doing despite selling 5 millions copies. NRS tried to grow the esports scene too. I hope they can break 1k...

It is so surprising to me how SFV's competitive scene seems so huge while it's completely floundering in terms of sales. It's completely bizarre, and I can't think of any other game that has had similar results.

He shouldn't be banned. The amount of salt that little quote spured was worth it lol

It was a drive-by shitpost designed to piss people off and that is specifically against GAF's rules. Simple as that.

I think a contributing factor could be how the game was marketed to that audience, as well as promoted by an official tournament tour.

Mass sales come from casuals and the game doesn't have enough content for that audience. Competitively the game seems to be great I've not heard much in terms of "bu bu bu its ruined back to sf4/3/2"

Because that is what this forum should be like? Sounds like you should head over to Reddit.

I mean gaf does have a lot of "first poster nailed it" posts which derails a lot of threads not just this one.

Well maybe Capcom shouldn't have fucked up by hurriedly releasing a console-exclusive game at full price without any semblance of a real single player campaign and a minimal launch cast of characters. If they wanted to sell lots of copies of their game, they should have released a full game that would give lots of people reason to buy it instead of resting on the laurels of the Street Fighter name and its past successes.

Or we can blame snide remarks.

Please tell me you don't seriously think a post like that is going to actually contribute to the downfall of the Street Fighter franchise.

Missing the broader market but reaching a core segment is maybe not so surprising.

How long have you been on GAF? do you realize what power this board has? it's got quite the influence.

And anyway, it was more of a point about a self-hating community more than anything

what's the point of even getting that cheap dig in? to be funny/smart?

Dude it was joke. This used to be a thing here in Gaf, you know

I mean you can derail and shit talk any news thread with a post and say it was a "Joke". Doesn't change it from what it is.

Its one thing when it happens at random , but its another when literally every thread about a game is filled with this kind of stuff and derails the thread almost every time.

hi, i play virtua fighter. nice to meet you
Hahahaha. When I started reading the thread, I imagined you'd be all like

Pray for the people who needs to organize this.

Yeah, that's a lot of entrants. I'm sure they'll manage. Does evo do double elimination, round robin or what? I know each round is a best of to take a win for that round.

And, even in double elimination, that's a ton of entrents. My father used to play slo pitch softball in the worlds and there was only, say.....max, 80 teams to play entire weekend, fri 6pm to Sun whenever they finished. 4k entrants will be a possible nightmare for time. It's almost like a poker tournament. It's great to see the genre growing in some capacity.
