Official Call of Duty®: Infinite Warfare Reveal Trailer + MW footage

For most people cod lives and dies on the multiplayer suite. Even when you have the best campaign in years, if the multiplayer is not up to snuff the fanbase will turn against you.

Oh yeah, that is true too. I guess the majority of core COD fanbase shell out $60 purely for the replay value in it's MP and if that ain't good then yeah, it's going to be torn apart. I play Advanced Warfare every now and then just to get a kick out of those campaign missions( shooting a tanker with a rail gun, trying to stop drones from destroying the golden gate bridge, rappel-ing down to a hidden military base in the night, ride gigantic exosuits and stop a missile from launching, jump from one moving bus to another while carefully taking out the threat from approaching vehicles, landing somewhere in downtown Seoul to push back invading North Korean forces. The game was exciting to play from start to finish on new gen systems strictly.

Of course I have, it was spectacular. Sorry for not mentioning it. MW2 surpassed MW1 in it's campaign. MW3's pacing felt iffy, and the execution of the campaign missions felt inconsistent, still a fitting conclusion to the trilogy campaign-wise.
Hmmmmmm, so you thought MW1's campaign was spectacular, MW2 even better, but AW's being the best?
Errrr...strange, but okey dokey.
I personally can't even remember what happened in AW, thought it was pretty sub-par.

Finally saw the trailer...

What the F%$£ did I just watch? Space?

Yeah, someone has a different opinion and likes more in the series than MW1. Strange, I know. They should only like MW1 and nothing more.

It's just, maybe, just maybe. Do you guys understand that not everyone is zealot for MW1? That other's do like the direction the series has lead? That it isn't a dying series? Is this hard?

Hell, as I mentioned in the other thread, the vitrol is getting annoying and honestly souring my opinion of MW:R. What should have been a cool reveal, fans of it turned it into a war. They turned it into a odd crusade that almost seems like they believe they're fighting for the soul of the series.

No...it's strange how our opinions align only half way. Don't try to suggest I'm saying things I'm actually not.

I found AW to pack in a lot more visual spectacle in it's action when compared with MW series. This is not to say MW series was bad, oh god no that's not what I meant.

From what I can gather, the people calling for change in CoD don't really play MP and vice versa for the hardcore fans of MP. Harcore fans want CoD distilled to its purest form, with none of the advanced movement.

My problem with that line of thinking though, is that, had CoD gone down the path, those that are most excited for MW:R wanted it to go down. The series would have stagnated even sooner. There's only so much you can do in WW2 and in the Present. The future allows them to flex their wings, let them be creative.

People want them to go back to Modern Day and WW2, but what could they do now, that they couldn't do before without turning it into Battlefield?

I want to someone to answer that for me... If you were making a new CoD for 2017, and it was modern day. What would you do, to make it different from MW1,2, 3, and sort of Ghost.

AW had the best constructed campaign since COD4. Not the best story, but the best pacing and level design.

agreed. Black Ops I and II were equally phenomenal(including narratively speaking). BO had dragovich/steiner/kavchenko and BOII had Raul Menendez, most badass villain of the COD franchise.

The games keep selling more and more copies. Call me crazy but the newer CoD's outsold any of the old school ones yes?

As long as that sort of thing keeps happening you aren't going to see Activision and there share holders let anyone make games like they did ten years ago.

Man I feel like the community is giving this some unfair hate. I get not being a fan of more futuristic setting and jumping around in exo suits, but still I feel like a lot of this hate is overblown. Instead of being hyped/excited about a remastered CoD4 too a lot of hate with that as well lol. I get including only 10 maps in kind of scummy IMO, but doesn't mean it would be better to not be happening at all...

I at least plan on giving the game a shot before I bash it to hell and back. I was super hyped for BLOPs III but the co-op focus in campaign really hurt the SP design IMO. Hopefully this game focuses solely on a single player and can leave the coop to zombies.

I believe COD sales have been on decline since Ghosts ended up being of a subpar quality.

It peaked with MW3, then it dipped every so slight with Black Ops 2 (although last I checked, Black Ops 2 has a healthy population still on consoles), but dropped with Ghosts and then AW but then rose back up with Black Ops 3.

Black Ops 3 has still been in the top ten NPD for a while now, but we have no definitive numbers for it's life time sales, only that it was selling significantly better than Ghosts or AW.

Yeah Advanced Warfare had a pretty great campaign. So did Ghosts IMO. At least Ghosts is now OK retroactively now that we've experienced the liquid shit that was BLOPS 3.

EDIT: MY BAD.

COD4 Remastered should have a beta for full nostalgia effect.

Remember how epic that Beta was? that's what started it all. That was like one of the first multiplayer betas on console that I can remember.

BLOPS 3's rise can be attributed to the goodwill and familiarity of the BLOPS trilogy. I don't expected IW do any better than AW, and the MW remaster will not have any significance on the numbers.

Just wondering...

Are we getting MW2 remastered as well in the future? MW1 was dope but MW2? That was a large amount of my 360 time.

Probably if the MW remaster proves to be worth it. MW2 is when the entire Call of Duty community was arguably at its peak, especially if you were into montages and whatnot back then. The difference in production value from when CoD4 was new to then is just staggering.

Another huge fan of AW's campaign. From a gameplay perspective it's up there with MW1 and 2, as well as BO1. I really like BO2's narrative, but I don't think the gameplay pacing is quite as tight. MW3 was actually pretty good too, it just felt a bit too bloated imo.

You know, if Treyarch can go from BO2 to BO3 in three years, who says IW can't do it the other way around? Who were the leads on Ghosts anyways? I think the new ND blood will inject direction back into IWs. More than player freedom or new abilities, a strong sense of direction and purpose are the backbone of a good CoD campaign. Ghosts felt like a flaccid imitation of the MW formula, whIle BO3 was rendered utterly unremarkable by a flaccid level design and thoughtless upgrade tree, which turned every encounter into a bioshock Infinite style "let's just spam a bunch of stunning/dps spells to weed out these bullet sponge enemies while I spray bullets at them jumping around like an idiot."

I really enjoyed AW's campaign, didn't have a problem with it or the exo suits, but I got very bored of the multiplayer and hated the weapon variants and the supply drops, it really put me off the game. I don't feel advanced movements work in this game on the scale of AW with the control method.

Hmm, this looks better than I expected it to. Granted, I have had very low expectations for the Call of Duty franchise for quite some time, but I actually... want to play this?!? The sense of place in the shots we were shown is very real, and I'm excited to see what kind of AAA setpieces they end up creating. Heading up to this, hearing the rumors about it, I was kind of rolling my eyes at the thought of another futuristic Call of Duty, but this is actually set far enough into the future that now I'm excited.

The remake also looked nice, but I probably won't be getting it unless the game is separated from Infinite Warfare. I don't really want to support this idea of tacking smaller games onto larger ones as a way to force people to buy the larger one. I see that setting an unhealthy precedent.

Nah you are just out of touch.

Looking forward to Infinite War. The more space and sci-fi toys I get to play with the better. real war is boring.

That COD4 remaster looks mighty fine. They definitely did some work on that. I don#t even remember the PC version looking like that.

Sorry according to some of the creators this isn't sci-fi . It is future war machines etc that could happen.

i'm actually happy we can go to space. looks like fun. this will be my first CoD in 6 years and I'm thinking about going all out for the deluxe edition w/MW1 remastered + season pass.

If I remember correctly that 2007 was the summer of multiplayer betas. I think the actual first one was the Halo 3 beta if you purchased Crackdown, than later that summer we had the CoD 4 beta. It was when I finally realized how great the 360 generation was going to be (until I had to buy several due to getting red ringed and/or disc drive went out, and I moved to the PS3).
