Press Release:
Moto Racer 4 revives the winning formula that made the original trilogy so successful. High-speed races on powerful road bikes alternate with motocross contests on nimble dirtbikes for continuous thrills and white-knuckle rides. The arcade-inspired gameplay is intuitive yet rewards technical prowess—while ignoring the rules of fair play as players can use any tactics to hit the finish line in first place!

With over 7 million units sold and critical acclaim both in the specialist press and among gamers, the original "Moto Racer" trilogy has left an indelible mark on the history of video games. Developed by Delphine Software, one of the great studios of the 1990s and 2000s, it is still synonymous for many with extreme gaming pleasure and fierce multiplayer contests.

Moto Racer 4, which is currently being developed under the supervision of the series’ original designer, Paul Cuisset, will include no less than 15 single and multiplayer game modes. In addition to regular fixtures such as the Time Trial, Single Race and Championship, here are a few examples of what to expect:
KING OF THE HILL: Each rider starts with the same time on the clock. While time runs down for the leader, the other racers get extra turbo. The first player to get their counter down to zero wins the race.
LAST MAN STANDING: The last player to pass each checkpoint is eliminated.
SURVIVAL: The race starts with very little time on the clock. Players gain time by passing the checkpoints. In single-player mode, the aim is to survive for a specific length of time. In multi-player mode, the winner is the last player with time left on their clock.
CATCH-UP: Opponents begin the race with a headstart and the player reach first place by a specific time.
WOLF PACK: The player begins the race with a headstart and must maintain it for a certain length of time without being overtaken.
GHOST BIKE: The player starts the race in last place and is not allowed to deviate from the road or collide with others. S/he must finish in a specified minimum place.
GOLDEN HELMET: Competitors must earn the one golden helmet up for grabs during the race. To do this, they must be first past the initial checkpoint. If the player wearing the golden helmet is hit by another player, s/he surrenders it to that player. If a player falls off their bike, s/he loses the helmet and it is automatically sent to the next checkpoint.

These new game modes complement the previously announced features of Moto Racer 4:
Alternating high-speed/motocross races
Traffic on the road
Split-screen multiplayer mode
Online multiplayer mode (2-10 players)
60 frames per second
Vehicle and rider customization
Possibility of colliding with opponents
Each competitor has a different personality and behavioral traits
Other details regarding different aspects of the game will be revealed at regular intervals.

Moto Racer 4 is scheduled to launch on October 13, 2016 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Mac, available in English, French, German, Spanish and Italian.

Wasn't aware of this series, checking back, the last proper console/PC entry was in 2001. There were a couple of handheld and one mobile remake of sorts but nothing "proper." Can't imagine how fans of the original games must be feeling right now with this coming back to consoles in what looks to be a big way.

Arcade racer + splitscreen = I'm probably gonna get it.

Oh man this is exciting, I've got so many fond memories of the first three.

I really hope this one has point-to-point races in traffic, I loved those in 3.

Wasn't the original like a Microsoft game or something? Or what am I thinking of? Anything? I remember a very difficult motocross game where you had to angle yourself in the air or you'd instantly crash and stuff. Is this that?

EDIT: Nope!

Wait, is this part of the franchise that had that bike racing game on the PS1 where you switched back an forth between motocross and street bike races? One race was on the chinese wall!

Holy shit this is the last thing I saw coming.

Moto Racer 1 and 2 were awesome arcade racing games. I still have them on GoG, fire them up every now and then.

This is very cool news!

Whoa. I thought about Moto Racer for the first time in more than a decade yesterday, mainly because of the 90's PC gaming thread.

I never in my wildest dreams thought we'd get a sequel. Awesome news though, we need more arcade racers and this could be a day 1 purchase for me.

I'm slightly hesitant to add extra info since sometimes conclusions can be jumped to from a portfolio, but it sounds like (based on the French version of the press release) that Artefacts Studio will be doing the ground-level development, under Cuisset's direction.

Artefacts made Garfield Kart (hey, bad licenses pay the bills... plus, the mobile and PC version got decent user reviews, and Artefacts did not do the lesser 3DS version), something I've never heard of called Gods vs. Humans, and the Europe-only portable Moto Racer DS game (never played it, but it had a ton of modes, including a motorbike Crazy Taxi.) Hopefully they're apt to scaling up to this challenge, we're missing staples like motorbike racers in this generation's game library.

Yeah, bearing in mind Paul Cuisset's last two games have been Amy and the awful Flashback remake. This is a completely different genre of course, but I'd still be anxious about this.

Douchebag. Yes, me.
Motoracer 1 and 2 were both super solid games that had absolutely amazing graphics on the PC. Some of the first games to support 3DFX cards.

It would be nice to have the secret bikes in the game too, as an easter egg or something like this.
