I'm gonna order the cd from WTC.

Anyone else in the US order from them before? The shipping is 6.90 EUR for up to 500 grams. I'm thinking that's at least 5 cds?

Thanks for the support. Seeing many torrent links come up in Google results during the past week started to get me worried. Not for our sake but the label's, as they took the expenses off our shoulders when we made the deal. Speaking of torrents, I was a bit puzzled when a couple of guys sent me PMs via FB last week, and told me how they liked the album they had torrented. It's beyond me why anyone would think it's a good idea to say that to the author.

I'd personally recommend Horna, Sargeist, Ascension, or Fides Inversa.

I'm sure, but wondering how to get the most of the shipping cost, which will be pretty pricey if I only order the 1 True Black Dawn cd.

I need to go through their catelog and pick some stuff out.

if I could recommend some stuff, specifically some other Finnish black metal that they have in stock, try:

Behexen - By the Blessing of Satan (classic, everyone who listens to black metal should own this)
Cornigr - Relics of Inner War (a personal favorite)
Horna - Sanojesi äärelle (recently reissued as a jewel case 2CD)
Prevalent Resistance - Eternal Return (one of the most underrated Finnish black metal bands IMO)
Satanic Warmaster - Fimbulwinter (WTC has the Japanese version with a bonus Bathory cover)
Vitsaus - Sielunmessu (very raw, but excellent material)

edit: ^yeah, Sargeist's first two are also mandatory. WTC has Satanic Black Devotion, but even if you don't fit it into this order, all their albums are easily obtainable in the US.

Yeah, Cornigr and Behexen are very good recommendations.

In what seems to be an ongoing trend with this band for me, Dalriada dropped a new album into my lap this week. Somehow I'm always late to new news on this band.

It's an acoustic album, mainly comprised of their past songs made even more folky and over the top jaunty. I love this band, and thus far it's definitely a good listen.

Anyone else liking the new Sylvaine album? I'm really liking it! It's just Alcest with female vocals which isn't a bad thing imo.

Nice, thanks to you both for recommendations. I think it'll be easy to make an order out of this. Definitely going to pick up Behexen and Horna.

If anyone else is going to order the True Black Dawn cd from WTC, the site calculates your postage by weight automatically at checkout so you can add cds until you hit the shipping level you want. It's a pretty easy site to use and saves your cart for later. Only gives paypal as the payment option for US.

Along with the TBD cd, I ordered Horna - Sanojesi äärelle double cd, Behexen - By the Blessing of Satan, and Satanic Warmaster - Fimbulwinter. Total with shipping came out to about $58 USD.

Saw that you guys were announced for NDF, congrats! I hope they will bring you over for MDF next year.

Thanks. There's a pretty good selection of bands at NDF. It'll be nice to revisit Tilburg, as it would be to play overseas for the first time.

Good choices.

Just saw the drummer/vocalist from Bell Witch died today. Fucking horrible bummer. He was only 36. Bell Witch are probably my favorite current doom band going right now. Longing is a masterpiece. RIP

Finally got around to listening to the new Avatar album thanks to them putting it on Youtube. Thought the front half was way better than the second half. Will have to try it a few more times in hopes that it grows on me, since the songs I like I really like, but I will admit to being a bit disappointed.

This is gonna be a good week for shows.

Sunday is Weedeater, Author & Punisher, Today is the Day and Lord Dying.

Thursday is Magrudergrind and Yautja, also Lunglust and I Am Become Death.

Saw this show back in April and it was a good time. Enjoyed all the bands except for Today is the Day. If you haven't heard yet tho, Lord Dying had to pull out of the tour because of a family medical emergency. Which is too bad, one for the medical emergency and two, they fucking ROCKED when I saw them.

Baroness concert the other day was fucking awesome. Great vibe and energy. The band puts on an awesome show, and the fans fucking showed up. I swear everyone in that venue was shouting all the lyrics the entire time. It was great.

Also, Devin Townsend announced a tour with BTBAM with Fallujah supporting. I might need to go to that.

And why would I want them?
Gonna hold off on listening to this since Nails albums are pretty short. I heard one song and it was pretty good. It will be their third kickass albumin a row :)

haha yeah the album is seriously like 20 minutes long, and the last song on the album takes up 8 minutes of those. I cannot wait. Been in love with this band since Unsilent Death

Dalriada is one of the best. This one snuck up on me. Kind of bummed that it's an acoustic album, but that goes for every band's acoustic album.

I go to a lot of shows and I don't think I've ever seen one that was sold out. That includes Devy in what was admittedly a pretty small venue.

Really? I've seen a few. Steven Wilson regularly sells out in Chicago as did Porcupine Tree. Baroness sold out in Madison last time they came around. Sold out before I even realized they were playing like months before the show.

As for Devy, yeah I'm not sure he actually gets much pull in the US. I saw him at the tiniest venue ever in Milwaukee once. It was fucking great but you could kinda tell he was like "why the hell am I doing this?" And he's since completely skipped the state. BTBAM had a pretty packed house when they toured with Deafheaven and Intronaut, but that wasn't sold out.

This stuff also probably depends on venue. I think Park West in Chicago sells out a lot. The Rave here in Milwaukee doesn't. I think I've seen House of Blues sell out before too. And yeah some of the Madison venues have sold out (my slow ass missed Baroness and King Crimson there)

My girlfriend tells me I've been to a few concerts that were sold out or close to and that I'm just unobservant. Usually, I buy tickets as soon as I'm sure I sure I can make it. Anyway, don't worry too much about things selling out unless the band is huge or it's approaching the day of the event. Most people wait until the last minute.

It also depends on what area you're in

If you're somewhere that isn't a major market like Chicago, LA, NYC, etc bands are less likely to draw huge numbers

In Chicago shows sell out fairly often. Obviously it depends on the band/venue but usually its pretty easy to gauge whether something is the sort of show that will sell out right away, a week before the show, day of the show, or not at all

A good promoter will also keep the facebook event page updated on how many are left (though occasionally you'll have "selling fast, get em now" and it really isn't)

So, new Katatonia is really good. Took me a couple of listens to warm up to it, as is the case with a lot of music I hear. This is some excellent stuff. It sounds different from their last 3-4 albums, and features longer, somewhat more experimental tracks, along with the more traditional and simpler tracks they're known for recently. Jonas experiments more with octaves as well. The addition of the new guitarist and drummer definitely added to the sound. These are some talented motherfuckers, and it shows here in spades.
