Just started this game last night, never played a souls game before. Was very frustrated and still am. I read the beginner guides in OP and seem to be doing that already except for the gun, I guess I need to practice stun shots. Do they work on the larger enemy types? I still get wrecked by the guys with bricks. I can't beat either first boss yet.

One question, I found the hunter gear in the
sewer area with the rats
that's better than what's for sale in the dream team correct?

Yes you can stagger big enemies and bosses too. Yes the hunter gear is better too. You should check the stats of different armor to see if you like it better.

To the right of the entrance leading to Vicar Amelia, keep going and eventually you'll encounter two hunters. One drops a badge that lets you purchase the LHB from the shop. I think.

You're misremembering. The badge for LHB is up the lift in the door that opens when killing BSB. It's somewhere by the Upper Cathedral Ward entrance.

Omg a cooperator just taught me the most ridiculous micolash cheese. I can't believe it was so easy. I'm not mad at all because the last phase of that fight is ridiculous.

Technically you are one boss from getting access to 3 very useful tools but 2 of them are hidden in secret areas. One more boss after that to get access to a weapon buff and then another boss to get access to 2 more offensive tools, one of them in a secret area.

You'll find some tools relatively early (
Yahar'gul, Lecture Building, Cainhurst
) but none of them will outdamage whatever weapon you're swinging. Tools in general start doing serious damage starting at 40-ish arcane, and unless you've been dumping points nowhere else, by then you'll be close to having access to every tool there is.

Basically, don't do a tools build. Do an arc build, gem your weapons accordingly, and at some point you'll start using tools for their damage.

got to the point where you can send people to 1 of 2 places and they both seem sketchy to me. I only found out about the second due to a google search as i thought i missed something. Did a further search on what I think is good/bad in this decision and my gut was kinda right. Both still seem shady though.

Saw Cleaver.
Really you can do fine with anything if you like it.
But Saw Cleaver is usually one of 2-3 weapons that people like the most.

I really like the Saw Cleaver. Closed is really fast and deals a lot of damage and open is really good as well. So I will stick to it... since I cant find where to buy other weapons (except an auto-gun for 3000) so I guess I will have to start over to play with the other starting weapons. Wanted to check them out more than anything.

The atmosphere of this game is trapping me, I am becoming addicted to Bloodborne despite the steep difficulty. The setting, atmosphere, nightmarish world and fast paced gameplay is calling me. Can't stop thinking about it. And that leads me to another question: Does the DLC (40% sale) adds anything new to the vanilla game or is a separated campaign that has nothing to do with it?

I remember the rocks and chucks being pricey. Regardless I think I should do a replay soon :3

I think it's 60 insight for a rock lol

The DLC is separate. But you get some really good weapons from the DLC areas. I recommend doing the DLC as soon as you make it to that area and your at the appropriate level.

Which weapon is better: Saw Cleaver or the hammer?
Hammer would be awesome if it wasn't for that dead zone. If you don't hit squarely with the heavy part you'll do like 20% damage, like when something gets too close when you're charging a R2.

I only realized that a couple hours into a hammer-dedicated fresh char :|

what are the most important stats to level up? so far i've dabbled with Vitality, Stamina and Strength mainly.

Depends entirely on your build really. Vitality and Stamina are your basic health and stamina stats. Strength and Skill are for melee weapons, Bloodtinge is for firearms and some melee weapons, and Arcane is for the items/spells.

Didn't know that about Arcane and Bloodtinge. Good to know. Lucky me I didn't invest on those stats.

Thats not good, 20% damage is very low. Should have an AOE effect to compensate. If i read correctly your post of course. Haven't tried it myself.

Bloodtinge Can actually be very OP for several of the games hardest bosses.

Vitality and Endurance until you get +7 weapon. After that Str/Skill/BT/Arc depending on your weapon of choice.

Which weapon is better: Saw Cleaver or the hammer?

Saw Cleaver is the best weapon in the game with highest DPS and insane ability to grow Beasthood. Kirkhammer would be my choice since it is much cooler weapon and big heavy weapons are best ones for me always.

Hunter Tool build is fine but it requires lot of knowledge and is basically NG+ build since all good stuff is in the end game. Using Arcane/Elemental gems is fine for majority of the first playthrough but is way worse after that since you need to really grind those gems to get anything equal to the physical damage gems in NG cycle. Also
Yahar'Gul
early? Thats the second last zone.

What is the trigger that prevents me from
exploring the whole game world? Killing mergo nurse? Or starting fight against the last Hunter?

Will have that in mind

I had to look Beasthood. Didnt know. Is so cool for replayability. Now I WANT to finish the game to replay it again with those Beast fists.

In use, the hammer's outclassed by the LHB (and the other strength weapons from the DLC) which you can get shortly after. The LHB is just more consistent with damage, not to mention the improved range and speed.

Yes, until the 1st of june is 40% off, 12$

Damn I should've waited!

It's well worth the $20 though so I can't complain. One of the best DLCs I've ever played. R

are two of my favorite areas in the game. Ludwig and Maria are better fights than anything in the base game. Anyone who doesn't have it should jump on it for $12.

I had Bloodborne since it was released but it didn't click with me until a couple of days ago. Now that I am hooked to this game, at 12$ is a no brainer purchase. That and the things I heard and the recommendations seals the deal.

Will play with the other weapons of the game when I find them, for sure. Need the DLC first thou

is blood chunk heaven. I even found a blood rock. I just need a couple more chunks to get a third weapon to +10. Can I farm them anywhere?

Don't forget Laurence. I missed him on my first play through completely. He is optional.

Thanks! I have
Laurence's skull
and I noticed the big
Cleric Beast look alike, but I never put two and two together until now haha.

Is there a special method to taking down ai hunters? Especially the gunner.

Also my stats arm at lvl 28 are

Vit 20
End 15
Str. 14
Skill. 12
Blood. 9
Arcane. 8
