Are you sure? I wouldn't be surprised because HDR would require a boost to the ESRAM since you would have a bigger framebuffer size. The XB1 design had a real issue with even the standard 255 range with some games having considerable black crush. The internals must be different in some way to support real HDR like more ESRAM or different kind of memory so you are probably right.
So is the 2TB console referenced in this pic referring the S? $449 seems mighty steep to me.
When is it gonna come out?

This ..... anyone know when ??

It's Edmonton and Amsterdam
That's my feelings too, ms want to stimulate Xbox sales, bringing out a slimmer but at its core the same machine for more money just doesn't make sense.

PS4 and XB1 are UHD Capable
Launch (2013) consoles are UHD Capable and will be firmware updated (ARM TEE for PS4 in Southbridge and XB1 in the APU)
BDXL drives with 2010 specs can read UHD disks, BD-ROM Blu-ray drives are firmware updateable to read UHD Disks. (AACS 2 and BD+ still needed and they run in the TEE along with the Player and HEVC profile 10 codec).
For those that are more technical than me, can anyone provide any context to this post?
It is taken from another topic discussing that the PS4 and Xbox One (current versions) are both 'capable' of outputting in 4K.
My questions is: Can the HDR and 4K output be updated on the existing box? Or does it need a Hardware upgrade to have the same as what this 'new' box brings to the table?

The black crush when using the full RGB range comes from a incorrect gamma curve. Both 16-235 and 0-255 range use 8 bits per colour. Are you sure? Skipped most of the thread because of the sheer size so sorry if this has been addressed, but how are people determining the dimensions? By knowing the dimensions of the controller?
When is it gonna come out?
But we already had so many posts saying how ridiculous it is that the "S" version is not slim and still bigger than the premium technical masterpiece the PS4 is.
That "technical masterpiece" makes the noise of a vacuum cleaner, unlike the Xbox One I can't fit it inside my TV stand because of heat. I really hope that silence is still a priority for Xbox One S and Scorpio
My "technical masterpiece" doesn't sound like a vacuum cleaner and has no problem with heat. Maybe you just have a defective unit.

This doesn't appear to be 40% smaller. What if this isn't the slim?
According to this thread, several people have a completely silent PS4, even with dust, and present there systems as representative. If it is loud, just clean your PS4 and everything is fine. PS4 is fine. And a beast. And silent.
See?

How much cheaper the OEM cost ?

Is anyone else going to acknowledge that tom called it Edmonton and Amsterdam, what is he talking about?

Yeah it's like people forget how much quieter both consoles are than last gen. My PS4 is not silent under load, but it's certainly not a vacuum cleaner. No way near.i think you're going a bit too far there. no way does it sound like a vacuum cleaner. the xbox one is quieter than the PS4 for sure but i wouldn't say the PS4 is loud. if your PS4 is really loud then you need to clean it out or get it replaced. i can't stand to use my PS3/360 anymore because of the noise they make. the ps4 in comparison is super quiet.
Sounds like a sensible price.NerdLeaks just tweeted $299.

Christ you're on edge today. If you have actual signs that point to widespread issues with loud PS4's then go right ahead and share them.
There's hyperbole flying around on both sides, let's fucking cut it out. There's plenty of dB comparisons out there and while the XB1 is definitely quieter, it's really a non-issue for the most part.
