A few more details from the PSblog Livecast interview

- Marvel's giving Insomniac a lot of freedom to do what they want
- Peter Parker is a little older and more experienced
- The parkour that we see in the coffee shop is part of them fleshing out his traversal abilities
- His fighting capabilities will be a reflection of him being older and understanding what he's capable of doing

For some reason, I don't believe them here.

Man I don't think any time of the year is truly safe. Early 2017 is already packed.
They should release this in September 2017 fresh after the movie with an enormous advertising campaign, PS4K bundle etc. It will do gangbusters and help carry the platform for the remainder of the year.

Ok? I just do not get what you were trying to say here.

We are talking about a team that has outputted some amazing looking games, the style doesn't really have anything to be fair about.
i don't know what to tell you then. but i'm sure i'm not the first person you've ever seen to start a statement with "to be fair" before making their point

Wonderful news

What about anything here is hard to believe? The Marvel freedom? They havent had much say in Spidey movies, so I could see that being pretty hands-off here.

I would assume things have changed now and that Marvel is keeping an eye out for the franchise that they have some form of control over.

I really dig the costume and the game looks incredibly fun. I am not a huge Marvel properties fan but this game is looking really, really strong.

To be fair, you are missing my point.
no i'm not. although now you're just being sarcastic.

you seem to be thinking that i have some sort of doubt about insomniac's ability in delivering graphical fidelity. i don't. i simply saw a discussion going on between other gaffers and was responding, explaining the rationale in why someone might think that is the case, which is understandable - but still doesn't mean they (insomniac) isn't capable of doing better.

So... how did Sony grab that as an exclusive?

Maybe it's part of the deal between Sony Pictures and Disney for Spiderman?
Also, SIE has good relations with Disney (Helping set up the LucasArts remasters with Double Fine) so that may have helped.

If the way he moves in the coffeshop is interactive I'll be a very happy man, if it's like the web rush from the previous games I will be really sad. It was all style and no substance, a "press button for cool stuff" kinda thing. The art styles are similar too at first glance. I can't wait to learn more though. Super excited.

Also, during that interview they mentioned some easter eggs that were supposed to be in the trailer. Besides the Osborn billboard, did anyone notice any?

The parkour inside the coffee shop - does this mean certain windows/doors can be entered? I'm thinking Assassin's Creed: Unity and Snydicate style, but maybe even better. If so, that's pretty cool.

Sucks at poetry

Why is Spider-Man terrorizing that coffee shop? Stepping on people's coffee, causing a scene, and then breaking through that very wide window at the end. He could have just used the door you know. Those windows are really expensive and a pain to replace. Now the shop owner is going to have to go to the trouble of having it fixed while his coffee shop suffers from a drop in business and his employees call out of work from the traumatic experience.

What about Rocksteady making the Arkham games? Arkham Asylum and City came out in between TDK and TDKR

Why is it hard to believe they're letting Insomniac essentially "Arkham" Spiderman, making their own universe like Rocksteady did for Batman

The fact that insomniac has the majority of their team working on this makes me even more excited and convinced this game is going to deliver enormously.

Honestly I am sad it's exclusive, not trying to troll or whatever, but since Playstation isn't where I like to play games, if this turns out to be a masterpiece I'll never have the option to enjoy a game with my favorite superhero without getting a console that doesn't have a lot of value for me personally. Many people wouldn't be happy if the next Arkham game was exclusive to xbox or PC. I understand why Sony would do it, but it's just a bummer for fans of Spiderman that are outside of the playstation overlap. Guess I will have to own a PS4 just for this like I did with Bloodborne for eight months. I'm willing to do it but it's easy to understand why having to buy a console with a game just to play it and then sell the console you don't want and never get to play the great game again is frustrating.

i think that's exactly what this game is, however this not only a batman arkham case but it also seems to be a star wars battlefront case in that it is not a movie tie in, but a video game releasing close to or concurrently with a film, in order to help hype it up even more.

Wait, you bought a PS4 for Bloodborne and then sold it? Why would you sell it instead of just keeping it and using it rarely, since there was a possibility for exclusives like this/games you'd really really want to play?

This was Sony's project.
From a personal and professional standpoint, this is a dream come true. I’ve been an avid Marvel fan all my life. When I first learned Insomniac was approached by our long-time friends and collaborators at Sony Interactive Entertainment with the opportunity to create a blockbuster Spider-Man console game experience, I practically ran into Ted’s office professing my passion for Spider-Man – along with a desire to serve as creative director. Fortunately, there are many more longtime fans and professional admirers of Marvel at Insomniac. From comics to films and TV, Marvel has a stellar reputation for unique characters and storytelling filled with personality and humor. Those are tenets we value deeply in our own craft.
