MKXL is $35 on PSN with PS+ right now as a part of the Best of E3 sale.

Nintendo conference at 100K combined between twitch and youtube, before it even starts lol. Aren't these like Evo numbers?
That's actually pretty bad if true. Pretty sure every other conference (even the third party ones) had like 150k+ on just one stream before they started.

This is going to have the WoW effect in tournaments where people will be wearing a mish mash of gear that are the best stats wise but may not gel well together resulting in a virtual eye sore.

Hmmm. Gear seems to have static buffs to attack damage, special attack damage, HP and defense. So far, the gear only seems to give passive bonuses to "character EXP" and bonuses to in-game currency, though there was a piece of gear which gave bonus damage to thrown interactables.

If this is the extent of what gear does, then I'm begrudgingly fine with it. There's just two things I need to know: if gear grants you new moves and/or new mechanics, and if the game will come with pre-made sets ala MKX variations.

how'd you manage to screw up one sentence twice smh it's $36 without PS+, $30 with

as always, if you're not a PS+ sub and don't care all that much about maintaining a ~digital library~ on your main, you can make a new PSN account and activate a free trial to buy it

That KOF Station episode linked to on the previous page is really good stuff, has everything from dev interviews to character intros, showcases and match exhibitions for XIV.

Some random bits:

- Composer(s) from the old days are back, K's theme in XIV for example was composed by the same people who created his themes in KOF99 and KOF2000.

- Joe is not a joke character anymore, they said that Fatal Fury devs are working on him in XIV and they never intended for Joe to be a joke character (as he has become in the KOF series) so he isn't one in XIV.

- They considered clothes ripping for the entire cast but characters like Mai and Joe would be a problem so they settled on just King and Yuri again.

- Antonov, the tournament organizer and sub boss, is apparently a really likable guy? Seems there's more to him.

- They said that since XIV is a console game they made sure to squeeze a lot of content into it so people can play it for a long time.

People who liked GoW did so because of the spectacle and presentation, if they loved GoW because of the combat then they would be playing DMC/NG/Bayonetta instead.

No surprise that people in the GoW thread are praising the game.

There's no way Capcom turns DMC5 into a walking simulator. If they do something even remotely close to that then I will officially perma ban myself from GAF.

not saying they will just that Capcom now has a bigger opportunity to turn heads with this game now that it's competition is gone

Megaton. Bar of meter for a dodge roll. Whole meta just changed off of that (especially on wakeups).

Batman gonna have some sick left/right mixup potential off of this with his batarang trait and this is gonna add a new level of mind games to vortex characters and zoning. Do you respect their zoning/vortex stuff and try to dodge or is it all just them trying to bait you into a punishable roll to cost you meter? Those kind of fakeouts from vortex folks repeatedly going for throws on your roll will add up quick if they can connect a grab. Plus zoners will get some big combo start potential by making you roll in on what they thought would be a MB lengthy animation which instead turns out to be a single pew pew from Zod or something with fast recovery or cancel options. Hell imagine super canceling on someone dodge rolling out? The salt would be unreal to Super cancel as Bane since his old Super was an auto correcting GRAB and snatch someone behind him.

Whole meta just got turned on its ear.

There's no "meta" for an unreleased game.

New game means new mechanics which means new strats/tactics.

So far this is the first major specific we have on match to match gameplay changes. We know about gear just not what modes it affects and in what ways. This though...this guarantees the old Meta is out. This will feel much different than the last game with this tool available.

Thats all I imply with "meta". That folks seeing the old Aquaman BNB and Batman setups will have much more to consider than just grinding out their old tricks and tactics and worrying about new cast.

To be fair, Injustice 2 is looking a hell of a lot like Injustice 1. Pretty much every returning character has their exact same combo strings from Injustice 1. Clash is still in, stage transitions are still in, and interactables are still in. That's probably not saying much, considering a bunch of other fighters stay similar with new iterations, but Injustice 2 doesn't appear to be a MK9 to MKX situation.

Right now, we're seeing an added roll mechanic and what appears to be a "combo tech" mechanic, where you can just roll out of a juggle.

Yeah, these two things would change any old Injustice 1 match outcome completely, but throw in all the tweaks that may be a part of a sequel and its a pretty sure indicator that its only on the surface that its the same. Grundy probably just become a helluva lot more appealing with a roll to get in and the fact that chain grapples are usually safe from breakers in other games. Not a guarantee his shit is safre than other combos from breakers in I2 though, but if they don't have everything as breaker'able then Grundy will be a true monster should he return. I'll be waiting to find out just what can and cannot be breaker-ed for this very specific hope of a returning character. Hell...just the roll helps him tons though. I'd easily settle for that upon his return should he make it as a reason to reconsider him.

During the Gamespot E3 stream for Injustice 2, Ed Boon confirmed that there will be something done regarding gear and competitive play; mentioning something to make it a "level playing field".

EDIT: Ed Boon also confirmed that Injustice 2 will use a netcode similar to MKX's current GGPO style netcode.

I wonder what they mean by that. Buffs won't reflect in ranked play?

That'd be my guess. It'd mean you could select it as costume pieces at least. It may still mean preset gear variants though for a variation system. Its all still too unclear to really tell.

Also check it out. Atrocitus has a Kitana Fanlift

This KOF 14 stream is awesome. Dat Mui Mui and Luong goodness. My God Luong has long limbed attacks. She's taking Duo Lon's place for long range pokes at this rate lol. Oh and my girl Mui Mui is every bit as awesome as I predicted. Pressuring to death, good AA, good supers with beams and the loop de loop tool, and works well with or without meter with how much bar she builds. So pleased I predicted her moveset being as good as i hoped. Really can't wait to play her.

Oh god someone posted 50 minutes of KOF 14. Hold my calls. This plus the Injustice 2 footage in 30 minutes, and the Ed Boon QA on facebook after that means I will be tied up for awhile.

EDIT: Oh shit Ralf no longer a charge character?!

DOUBLE EDIT: Yoooo...Kukri apparently has a shitload of moves that rain sand down below him during a jump. This dude might be sick after a knockdown or for crossups with this. Hoping he beats AA's clean.

TRIPLE EDIT: Uh oh. Airdash dude with the glowing hand attacks? Yeah his airdashes DEVOUR his max mode meter. Two air dashes in a row and he was nearly spend on max mode.

Ed Boon confirmed on IGN's Injustice 2 stream that certain pieces of gear will in fact give characters new moves, or perhaps different versions of the same move. Ed mentioned a piece of gear that gives Batman the ability to throw three batarangs rather than one.

Hmmm. I'd normally consider this damning news, but I'll reserve judgment until later.
