Mighty No. 9 review thread

Readin the reviews and playing the last demo build they released, I think the game will probably earn the $10 I tossed at it. Sad it couldn't be more of what people expected though with all this time.

They've been making huge expansions on Shovel Knight for free already. Another crowdfund for their next game could be needed depending on how long development takes.

In all honesty I hope they charge non backers like me 5 bucks or more for their next addon update. They deserve it.

With kickstarter, it's really 50/50. Though i agree that this will hopefully make people wary that you shouldn't put all your trust into even the most well known developers. This will be a blow to Inafunes credibility.
It's only 50/50 if you spend your money randomly :p

How does this look twice as good as the final product

they really ruined this game by making it for every platform in existence
I said as much about the platform stretch goals back during the campaign. Some people were angry.

Mighty No. 9 |OT| Will still score better than Recore

It's not even the concept art, look at this demo video released by Inti Creates during the Kickstarter. It took them seven days to complete.

I have a feeling Inti Creates wanted to stick close to the gameplay present in the above .gif, but Inafune wanted to mix things about (with the dashing, score system, etc.), hence the monstrosity we received. Of course we'll likely never know exactly what went wrong with MN9...
Feels just like yesterday...glad I didn't bother kickstarting it. I feel bad for everyone who did 😔

That's exactly the reason. People wanting this on everything without understanding what the consequences could be. It's sad that the prototype is graphically much more impressive.

This doesn't surprise at all. The development of this game has been a nightmare that won't end. The odds of there being a sequel are thankfully low, and with Re:core looking like it does and being due out in 3 months I think Comcept's days are numbered.

Here's the development timeline for anyone who missed it. The only thing that has changed is there's finally an episode 1 of the documentary. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWoVGPYVf_A&index=5&list=PLQ8UAZp_byp-6xmMTCcYKsy6EbZ-ES9WC

As expected. I spent the $60 on this trash that I'm never gonna play.

the least I got a ton of entertainment out of it already. Business man indeed

Blame goes to the professional developers biting off more than they could chew, not the customers who believed them.

Haha fucking wrecked. I never backed this because I always felt Inafune was being opportunistic on nostalgia and fan goodwill. I hoped it would end up good anyhow so I could buy it later, but damn, after Gunvolt, I was pretty sure this was going to be a stinker. I didn't want it to be, but yeah...

This is pretty much what I expected. Slightly bad but in a way that's damning after all that's happened up until this point.

Didn't Capcom just release that Legacy Collection though? But yeah, they really dirty.

They re-released the six NES ones, whoop de doo Basil

If they were still making Mega Man games proper this shit wouldn't have happened. Not that I'm blaming the quality of this game on Capcom, mind you. I'm just really disappointed in everyone.

Inafune delivers on Soul Sacrifice though.

Inafune's failed spectacularly on pretty much everything he's done since leaving Capcom, financially, critically, or otherwise. Soul Sacrifice is no different. Him talking out of his ass about how done Japanese game development is, then putting out trash like Yaiba are the reasons why people are increasingly skeptical of his talents.

This whole Mighty No. 9 saga has taught me I need to be a little more cautious of the things I back on Kickstarter. Making a decision based solely by name and pedigree is simply not enough.

I kept all of my Kickstarter emails. The update where they announced the Unreal demonstration (seven days work), shown in the below .gif:

D48ZJXE.gif

Link to the video on Youtube

they said...well...I'll show you rather than tell you.

Kickstarter Update (Scroll down a bit until you reach the "Graphics Engine!" section)

And I quote:

"Whattaya think? Someday we will look back on this and laugh at how primitive it looks, but for now, for only one week of test work, it's pretty darn cool, don't ya think? :D"

I'm looking back on this, but I'm definitely not laughing. Well, I am, but not for the reason they intended...

Didn't they stop making Mega Man games because people stopped buying them, though? Seems like you should take a good look in the mirror, bucko.

So glad I didn't back this. And thess score's don't really seem surprising (to anyone I would think).

Thankfully, all the games I've backed seem to be doing fine.
