Who is this legal head that doesn't want us to play YGO online... :(

EDIT: Konami should just make an official app like MTG Online.

Problem is that Japan gets new cards first.

The attractive of DN and YGOPro is to test these cards before they come out and see if they are worth a purchase.

No way in hell will Konami add OCG cards that could impact future TCG sales

Wow, this third party is going after everything.

The attractive thing for me is not needing to spend ludicrous amounts of money on cards, as well as the ability to actually find people to play with since I don't have anyone I know who I could play with. It's why I loved the DS games and Legacy of the duelist back when they weren't horribly outdated

Well....I hope for the game's sake that they're going to announce and drop a new substitute soon, otherwise people will assuredly be leaving once they realize they can't practice with cards they don't own before they buy them.

Looking though some old pictures, I found this image I took from the Yugioh Manga. Maybe you guys will get a laugh out of it:

I used to make fun of Joey as a super jobber who was trying to hard to be cool...

Then he had that legendary duel with Marik. The ultimate underdog match, no one thought he was gonna win. Marik pulling out all the cheap stuff.. shadow realm non sense, god tier cards. But man Joey never gave in to that.... gave Marik that WORK!

If it wasn't the shadow realm cheating non sense Joey would've won that match for real. Man when he just dropped that Gierfried, that was just heart breaking.

Joey looked like he aged two decades from the start of the match to the final turn.

Fuck it, I preordered some Dark Side of Dimensions Movie Pack and The Dark Illusion boxes.

The only other times I've bought sealed boxes were for Duelist Pack Yugi and Dragons of Legend.

Why am I such a sucker for Dark Magician stuff?

Unless Konami is planning on a universal online app for YGO ala Pokemon, there going to be hell to pay from the fandom.

I transcribed both of the new cards:

TCG-EN085
The Hidden City
Field Spell
When this card is activated: You can add 1 "Subterror" monster from your deck to your hand. Once per turn: You can change 1 face-down Defense Position "Subterror" monster you control to face-up Attack or Defense Position. Once per turn, when an opponent's monster declares an attack: You can change 1 face-down Defense Position "Subterror" monster you control to face-up Attack or Defense Position, then you can negate the attack. You can only activate 1 "The Hidden City" per turn.

TCG-EN084
Subterror Behemoth Stalagmo
Level 10
EARTH/Rock/Flip/Effect
FLIP: You can discard 1 "Subterror" monster, and if you do, draw 2 cards. You can only use this effect of "Subterror Behemoth Stalagmo" once per turn. When a face-up monster you control is flipped face-down, if you control no face-up monsters: You can Special Summon this card from your hand in Defense Position. Once per turn: You can change this card to face-down Defense Position.
ATK/2800 DEF/2100

Oh so the Subterror's are going to be Flip monsters? Tarotrei's time to shine!

Since Subterror's are foil cards does that mean SPYRAL's are going to be Rare/Common?

Perhaps he's wondering why someone would shoot a man before throwing him out of a plane.
I've been out of Yugioh for almost a decade, and just recently took the time to sit down and read the rule book. Beforehand, I had no clue what a pendulum summon was. I really want to get back into the game, but have no clue where to start. Are there any structure decks or card sets (or newer deck staples) you guys could recommend to me?

I say get Starter Deck Yuya or Structure Deck Master of Pendulum.

In what world is Joey the 3rd best duelist?
Joey is easily 3rd best in the world if we are talking about actual mortals and people with no straight up cheat abilities/decks/items. Dude got 3rd/4th place in the Duel city tournament with #1 and #2 being cheat gods (and he beat one of them).

Just like Kaiba though Joey is destined to be a jobber.

Ranking of the mortals in DM: Yugi Moto (no Yugi Yami cheat), Kaiba then Joey.

If you want to catch up on mechanics, the Master of Pendulum Structure Deck is perfect. The name makes it clear it's based on Pendulum Summons, but it also comes with every summon type other than Ritual.

If you get three of them, you're not too far off a fairly powerful deck. Maybe not quite as strong as the current best decks, but definitely close. Off the top of my head, some cheap upgrades are a few Rank 4/additional Rank 7 Xyz Monsters such as Castel, the Skyblaster Musketeer, Performage Trapeze Magician, and Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon, and a couple of Majespecter Unicorn - Kirin for the main deck (it's insane when you can just Pendulum Summon it every turn). None of those should be more than $1-$2 each.

Further (more expensive) upgrades include Odd-Eyes Fusion/Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon for a better Fusion boss monster, Xiangke Magician/Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon for a fun Xyz combo, and Archfiend Eccentrick and Mist Valley Apex Avian for more Pendulum-based control cards. They're a bit pricy, but if you like the deck and want to take it to tournaments you should consider them. I have Odd-Eyes Vortex/Rebellion in my deck, and they're really fun (and powerful) to summon. I was teaching a friend about Pendulum Summons, and drew a hand that could make Odd-Eyes Rebellion on my first turn. He probably thinks Pendulums are insanely overpowered now :p

Am I the only one EXTREMELY bothered by players who don't place their cards in the correct markings of the game mat?

Like playing your pendulum horizontally in front of the monsters, or the field spells at the center of the field....

In my experience, a person's adherence to proper card placements depends on how they learned the game. People who learned from videogames (like myself) tend to be the most formal. People who learned by going to organised play events are more lax, but do a pretty good job of explaining everything to compensate.

People who learned from playing against the same group of friends are the worst. Sloppy field layouts combined with poor communication is a recipe for disaster.

I gained a new respect for the character after going back to the original series recently.

Is there somewhere to duel other people that won't quit the instant something goes wrong for them.

Just trying out Ygopro Android online for the first time and the last 7 duels i've been in all had this. Yes some could be connection issues or even all but the timing of those disconnects are all too suspect. One person just disconnected right after i destroyed one of his 2 Gishki ritual monsters and summoned a Stardust Dragon equipped with Vylon Prism. The most recent one disconnected the instant i negated his/her magic jammer after i had attacked with Choco equipped with Spellbook of Power (Literally the 2nd turn of the duel). One disconnected after spending nearly 5 to 10 minutes summoning everything under the sun before attacking into a Drowning Mirror force.

I just want to duel and try out stuff without constantly having to restart because of disconnections, it's honestly annoying especially since playing online itself can be laggy to begin with.

If you simply want to test things out, you could try beating up the AI on YGOPro. Otherwise, you can't do much about salty players :/

I've been doing that but the AI becomes kind of predictable after awhile and i've gone through all the AI decks a lot. Are there perhaps more AI decks i can download for the Android version around?

With DN taken down, let us all take a moment to remember the glorious interactions we had with salty players

"YOU'RE CHEATING, POLYMERIZATION IS THE ONLY FUSION I RECOGNIZE AS REAL FUSION"

"Losing against pendulum isn't really losing scrub"

"My Jinzo negates your card (Solemn Warning) just read it!"

"Your monster is level 7 can't attack with my Gravity Bind, black stars are still stars"

"I don't care what you say, if your card is even just 1% monster,Skill Drain negates all it's effects, even if those Pendulum things think they are spells"

These have stayed in my memory, such glorious salt that I'll never taste anymore ):

What I find a bit amusing is the Anime actually address several of those things directly. A number of characters point out that XZY ranks are not levels in any way, and a number of ways this plays out, and that Pendulum cards are considered spells when in the Pendulum zone. Plus GX as a whole shows off like a million ways to do fusion.

They go further with a lot of the scripted duels.

They peaked when Kaiba explained his copy of dragon souls doesn't miss timing.
