Caught his video about this yesterday and his sincerity when talking about it bringing him closer to his son was very endearing.

The most likeable and genuine person to pass through that train wreck of a press event during EA's B1 multiplayer gathering. Glad he had fun and god speed on his PC adventure.

That PSU is overkill for a single GPU set up. Hmmm....I still haven't bought my CPU/motherboard yet. I'm pretty sure I'm going with a 6700k and a z170 skylake board but is an X99 board and 5820K or 6800K better for gaming if I'm not doing video editing?

Crews says he got hooked to PC gaming during a Battlefield 1 session with Jamie Foxx, Snoop Dogg, and other celebrities. Now with the help of someone named "Pony Lion," he's ready to build a system.

Did he actually say "PC Master Race" or are you labelling that personally? It's a terrible designation for anyone and I don't think anyone on GAF really enjoys hearing it either.

Speaking of reefer madness...

Well, the 6700K has slightly higher clock-for-clock performance and is cheaper to build while the 6800K has more cores and is more expensive, so I suppose it depends on how long you'd like the system to last. If you intend to upgrade within the next few years, go with the 6700K, but otherwise go with the 6800K. I just upgraded from a 2600K to a 6800K myself after initially considering a second-hand 5820K; ultimately I figured hitting 4.3GHz on a 6800K would be more of a sure thing than climbing to 4.7GHz on a 5820K (clock-for-clock the 6800K is roughly 10-15% faster depending on the task).

If he started Twitch streaming, I'd watch it. Would be one of the first times I'd use Twitch to not watch a tournament/charity event.

Never going to happen, but just saying.

Does it really matter?

Yeah. 'Cause it's pretty tacky and immature and hopefully someone tells him that this weekend. Pretty sure he doesn't get what the term is implying, which is fair.

Really cool he's doing this connect with his son.

The term implies nothing

Its a joke created by a person in a joke video jokingly referencing elitist pc users. The whole term term and means nothing

I can just imagine Terry applying that damn thermal paste lol (better have the dude he's building it with handle it). Cool dude.

"Master race" is a nazi reference. Always. Period.

You can play stupid or whatever - hell, maybe you DID miss tenth-grade history, I wouldn't know - but it has a meaning and it's a tacky one. *shrug*

I have never understood people who get upset by that term. The first use of it was so obviously a joke that I don't understand how anyone could take it seriously. Yeah I'm sure there are some people out there that take it serious, but why do we have to let those dicks ruin it for the rest of us?

So? Does referencing something mean you're supporting it?

Tell that to the people who owned slaves in 1800s they refered whites as master race in terms of owning slaves. Not defending the term, just saying it wasnt ALWAYS a nazi thing... but its been a bad thing forever .

Imagine Terry Crews streaming on Twitch.

LOL I REALLY hope he does! I'm sure he'll hear about it and try it out at some point.

This is great seeing him wanting to actually build it himself with his son (and the help of "Pony Lion" I'm guessing). He could have easily taken the parts list and have someone build it for him. Good on him. And his son will enjoy it and learn some stuff.

Take it's power and use mental judo to use it's power against it, like NWA (Rap group).

Personally I also don't like the real meaning of the phrase, but when I see it in gaming forums or game related sites, the first thing that pop into my mind is the console representations peeing over this caricature with lots of hair, and a stuck out chest. I'm sure Crews would apologize if he was told that people found it offensive, he doesn't seem to be the negative type.

While it would be cool, I sort of hope he doesn't. I don't know how people on twitch find out people's address, but they would most likely be able to DDOS him to make it so he can't even play the games he probably want's to play. There are some terrible people on the net, and just doing this type of facebook thing is probably enough, unless he gets some beefy network security.

This seems like a Brooklyn Nine-Nine episode plot.
Charles: Try this new game Sarge, it's super fun
Terry: Terry don't do video games, not after that time I got really fat playing WoW
(cue flashback to terry sitting in chair typing vigorously into chat box with mouthful of cheetos)
Charles: I think you'll really like it Sarge.
Terry: Ok fine, just one match though.
-7 days later-
*Fat Terry sitting in front of PC with mouthful of cheetos yelling "WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY ABOUT MY MOMMA"*

That's awesome that he's building a PC. He's a very chill dude with no elitist attitude and the fact he's doing this to get closer to his son makes it even more awesome.
Definitely. I watched the whole vid and it sounds like he's just absolutely positive and over the moon about the whole thing.

I mean yeah he said "PC master race" but it's pretty clear from watching his interviews he's probably saying it jokingly and not with the same disdain and intent some other people probably use it as (i.e. unironically).

The only thing is that poor Razer mouse is probably gonna die on him and hopefully everything goes well without needing RMA'ing and stuff. It all seems so exhilarating until you have to do troubleshooting, but dude is positive as fuck. I mean watch the whole thing and all the fun tangents he goes on as he's showing it off.

Terry Crews is like the best part of humanity sometimes. I would watch him build that PC.

That's crazy. What is it about our hobby that seems to attract these people? I mean, I realize it isn't limited to our hobby, but it just seems... so silly. Gaming is supposed to be about fun - I don't know why people insist on shitting on everything on such a regular basis.

I'm not big into the Twitch scene, so I didn't know people like to DDOS streamers. How dumb.

Hopefully it won't take around 24 hours like that one guy on twitch. I better not laugh though, I could end up having problems with my future build. I fear getting a dead or broken part. PC troubleshooting frustration is unique it seems. At the moment I hate it, it keeps me up at night, but oddly I secretly enjoy the process.

Yeah, I remember in the past having crazy issues during builds that just didn't make ANY sense. Something so simple can often become so... not simple.

Of course, I haven't built one in a LONG time, so I'd guess it's a lot easier these days. Ah, the days of dip switches and jumpers... lol

Oh, I'm sorry.

You must've gotten the impression I'm open to a debate on the matter.

Well it is a discussion forum... where the intended purpose is, presumably, to foster... discussion.

I mean, like, you know?

Think he was getting comments and someone said he was part of pc master race and he just replied to a comment. Dont think he said that on his own.
