I have. I'm currently stuck on
Mistral
and would like to level up, but I can't.

That's odd. I recall having the same issue which resolved itself when I got a cutscene after attempting to leave the hotel.

If you're stuck on Mistral, you can cheese the boss fight easily.

I did it, finally.

When the New Game Plus starts, you have to pick up to letters in the lobby.

One of the quests, Ethereal Gift, lets you level up past 8 and gives you the Demon Sword.

I have been deciding whether to pull the trigger on this or not. £54.99 for a niche title is a little steep. I ended up pulling the trigger as I am in between games at the moment, and fancied some hack and slash RPG action.

As I am about to start my first play through is it worth altering the difficulty via the modifier ( I'm a little hazy how you do this? ) Does it drastically increase difficulty but in a fair way?

Any other advice for someone jumping in pretty blind and fresh?

Let's get things straight (or not) the two lead female characters, are in fact, in love. They are never called lesbians, or look at as strange, in this universe, this seems to happen as naturally as a boy and a girl falling in love in our reality. I commend the game for not making the main character a self loathing character regarding their sexuality. Instead we are provided something more positive. Two women simply in love with no politics behind it, and no hidden agenda. This is what the writers probably wanted. Enjoy their relationship for what it is, love, and don't think any further than that.

This part of your review was why I ended up giving this game a chance, and it didn't disappoint. I'd normally not have bought this game (I consider the designs atrocious, although the faces were really well done, showed a whole lot of emotions, unusual for anime-style games, I find) but this part really made it work for me :)

It really is quite rare to see a non-straight character not defined by sexuality, so this worked really well for me.

And the gameplay was surprisingly enjoyable, especially due to that soundtrack. Lovely stuff!

It seems that Nights of Azure has gone missing from various European PSN Stores. I have the disc version, but I can confirm it's not listed on my local PSN Store (NL) anymore.

Have I missed news about this?

Update: KoeiTecmo Europe has reported this to Sony/SIE for investigation.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it :). The soundtrack is truly incredible.

Thanks to the thread for putting me on to this. My friend list is populated with Dark Soul III and Overwatch beta...but i keep just jumping in. Taking my time with the game.. and playing with my new surround sound setup is a dream. <3

i'm a little confused by what i must do.
IN chapter 7, i
went past the museum and openned the 6th doors , found out that the pope was the nightlord and then during the fight she sealed all my summons and i lost just too many HP before i could summon my healer BACk to help me.

i got 2 choices : restart & return to the lobby , but since i played too much i choose to go back.

I was greeted by a cutscene and MORE quests !

So my question is : Do i go back to try to beat the boss or should i follow the new leads ? Will i miss anything or are those events not important ?

Did you finish all the character sidequests before you went to fight the boss? That cutscene might be for stuff that you haven't completed yet. Check your Scenario menu and make sure all the tabs are marked as complete (except for the first one naturally).

Also you can block the room wide AOE that the boss does and your sealed Servans come back eventually IIRC.

I can block that ? ok

I did everything that was available before that point , for my wife ( she's my wife , right ? ) the thief and professor.
Well i guess i'll just complete those new "orders" and try the boss again

Yeah,
complete all the side stuff then go fight the boss. When you get to the end make sure to save your clear data and and load it and it should put you right before the final dungeon. Go back to the hotel and new main scenarios will become available. Complete all of them then go fight the boss again for the true ending.

Thanks

I had trouble with the final boss yesterday because i didn't know when to attack , because there was a moment during the fight where i was on the defensive when i should had been on the offensive.

Now i'm trying to clear the additionnal scenario . The first endings was .. lackluster to say the least

The true ending is indeed better. If you get stuck on the next boss then consider equipping
one of those items that prevents poison to yourself and your main healing and attack Servans.

Beat mistral last night ... Those instant kill attacks were fun to avoid.

Not a fan of the charm part that forces you to get personal only to be greeted by a rain of ice needles.

That low already? Maybe I should've waited, but more a shame the game probably didn't sell well. :/

Yeah it probably didn't haha its super niche and didn't have english localization. I'm sure the budget for it was super low so they were fine.

OST: Malicious Roses

Please tell me this song just plays on infinite loop the entire game...

Also, just found out one of the composers is from Mana Khemia fame. Couldn't buy it fast enough.

It plays in particular field areas. The game's OST is really great.

It took me a while to beat that portion of the fight. Once you learn what all of her moves are dodging them isn't that bad. It's just a little bit annoying when she does AOE moves back to back which means you can't really get damage in.

Finished the game. The last boss was a joke after i knew it already and i had the experience fighting the 2 extra bosses.

The final ending is miles better than the first one.

Overall , the game was nothing special , but it had this fun factor behind the repetitiveness of the game.
Very fun , i'd almost want a prequel or a sequel but i'm fine knowing
that arnice and lilise are a couple after their ordeal and that with curia gone, they can enjoy their days in peace.

Don't know if this has been stated but http://gematsu.com/2016/04/atelier-studio-gust-developing-new-ip

Nights of Azure must have done well in japan for them that they're going to develop more new IPs. Hopefully they're given more time to perfect and polish these new IPS. Nights of Azure could have used a bit more time to perfect certain parts. All in all, love the game, gonna write a huge blog post about the LGBT theme, the story character depiction and translation etc.

Uhm, does this game have any similarities to Lost Kingdoms?

Lost Kingdoms has more in common with Folklore imo.

The Servans (creatures you control) in this game act on their own outside of some general orders you can give them and a special ability that you can activate for each one.

You control Arnas on her own and she has her own attacks.

Never heard of Folklore. I might get both. They both seem very interesting to me.

Folklore is similar in that you equip monsters and use them to attack like in Lost Kingdoms.

Folklore came out close to PS3 launch I think so it might be hard to get a hold of now. Nights of Azure came out pretty recently so it's probably easier to get a copy of that.

Both are pretty decent games imo.

Folklore was a great game that I enjoyed immensely. It's a much different style than Nights of Azure with monsters being movesets and summoned for quick combos while in Nights they remain out side indefinitely till they are summoned out.

After watching the first chapter on YouTube and listening to the soundtrack, pretty sure that I'll be adding this to the list of things to pick up once I get a PS4.

this game is currently 25 bucks on amazon

is it worth it at this price? cant believe it dropped so quick

be aware that it is flawed but most definitely worth playing if you're a fan of Gust or just games with great art (albeit with some poor environments) and amazing music.

Only if you think you'll really like the story.

The game is possibly one of the dullest action-RPGs on the market mechanics wise. Plays like playing a musou on very easy.

Sounds like it's not import friendly at all... Maybe we'll get a plus version or something later on for other consoles? Still no PS4. :( the game sounds up my alley, though.

Soooooo the game is currently 15 quid on amazon uk, I've read some reviews and I'm thinking about picking this up. I still have some questions though.

How long of a game is it?
Can you bump the difficulty? A lot of reviews mention the game is very easy.
Is it really that text heavy?
Does the timer disrupt the gameplay in any way?

Thanks!

It's a game that can take you 20h if you rush it ( and you'll most likely get a sad ending ) to 50h (if you take your time and don't dislike dongeon rpg that you explore times and times again to complete objectives.)

It's only text heavy if you want to know the world and the characters . it does have lot of text but you're not forced to read it . It is recommanded to read it to understand the endings properly.

I never got bothered by the timer , not even once ... ok maybe once in the final level but even then it was doable.. there is an upgrade to give you more time on the timer to have more leeway.

On chapter 3, so far it's not a bad game, but not particularly good either.

Level design is by far my biggest issue, it's just... flat. You go through various levels, but at the end of the day it feels like the same area re-skinned. No platforming, traps barely do anything, etc.

Anyway, does anyone know what exactly triggers the next daytime? I know you need to stay out x minutes, but is time cumulative? (Example: I exit 1 minute, come back, go out for 4, then come back. Is the game timer for that night 5 or 4 minutes?)
