Terry Crews building a gaming PC after finding Battlefield 1 fun

As a primarily PC Gamer I'm 100% in favour of banning people who use the term "Pc Master Race" because the only times I see it here is as a passive aggressive label by console fanboys with an inferiority complex.

Unbelievable.

Also, the inanity of this thread. "Famous guy buys product I like. Celebration ensues".

you are complain about the label " master race " but at the same time you call console players " console fanboys "

make sense.

Already thought Terry was awesome. This just further confirms it!

And lol at people getting mad at "PC master race."

Well console fanboys are not the same as console players. I think he tried to be as specific there as he could rather than generalizing. In fact he said console players that happen to be fanboys, and that happen to have an inferiority complex. Hell if anything console fanboys is the innocuous therm in all of that. Fanboys are are real thing after all, I see no shame on the term if it is an accurate description not used for generalization; you can't say the same for master race.

Intel Core i7-6800K CPU
Asus X99 Sabertooth motherboard
Corsair H100i V2 CPU cooler
32GB Corsair Dominator Platinum
2TB Samsung 850 Pro SSD
Asus Xonar Essence STX soundcard
Asus Blu-ray drive
EVGA Supernova 1000W P2 power supply
Audio Technica PDG1 headphones
Lol nice waste of money, but he can afford it so good for him. Wonder if he'll stick to BF1 or try other stuff, it would be cool.

Going with Audio Technica headphones. Smart man.

That set sounds terrible though, especially for that price.

I think it's safe to say, even dumping an unnecessary amount of money on his build, it's still pretty affordable for him.

I'm sure he has no shortage of it.
No doubt about it, i didn't mean it like that haha :)

But aside from that, his reason to build it (bonding with his kid) is really genuine. Great stuff. I know many parents who scream when they see their kids playing games.

I remember a post earlier that pretty much totaled it to just under $5000 but a lot of the stuff he has is overkill for gaming.
If you want to try at it yourself with reasonably priced good components you can check out the New PC building thread:

That's actually a bit less than i thought lol

PSUs are best run at 50%?
Are you serious?
It's pretty much the opposite with modern PSUs.
Efficiency gets lower with oversized PSUs.

This PSU is completely overkill.
But that's nothing new, everytime I look at rigs on pcpartpicker they have completely overkill PSUs.
I think that's kind of an american thing, "bigger is better".
Don't know, in german PC forums nobody would be so stupid to buy a 1000Watt PSU for a single card rig.

Terry is legit one of the nicest people around.

Devoted husband and father, genuinely funny.

Great dude. So glad he's exploded like he has.

First time I've ever heard that. Have any links to back up this claim?

All PSUs have efficiency go up with % usage to a point until heat starts wrecking the efficiency on the other side of the curve. The rule of thumb is that you're going to be most efficient when you're going at half the rated draw of the power supply.

Terry Crews is amazing. One of the few celebrities I would love to meet because he looks like a really nice guy.

His Instagram video is cool. He seems like a nice guy with genuine enthusiasm, I'll take that over fake celeb "gamers" any day.

Also, I've always loved him since I saw this:

I really like Terry Crews. He seems to be a down to earth human being that happens to be in the spotlight and not forced like so many others.

Sorry to burst your bubble a bit, but the bikini top is photoshopped in, which you can easily tell if you look closely.

Thats outdated thinking.
Modern PSUs with Gold to Platinum rating reach over 90% efficiency.
There is no longer a need to go oversize with PSUs today.
