Pro ordered it a week ago when I saw the flight trailer. I was skeptical of the game ever coming out. I understanding waiting for reviews but flying in first person is a quick way to get me to throw money.

I wonder if there will be black holes or neutron stars or supernova.

Black holes are confirmed mate.

I'm more excited at the possibility of exploring oceans. We're already seeing crazy terrestrial creatures. Imagine the trippy stuff underwater.

Oh, really? I missed this announcement. How do they work? Just causes you to die?
Once you go through it, you end up behind bookshelves and you get to push the books once in a while.

Hmm. Unless those stalagmites and stalactites were formed from really fast-cooling lava, I don't see how those could have formed. I know I know it's a game not a simulation, but it should feel believable.
"Believable"? There are a lot of Imaginary elements breh. I don't expect the universe of NMS to behave just like ours does. I'm not going to pretend to know how Ioxinite behaves in molten form or underground after million of years under extreme pressure.

"No Man’s Sky is a game about exploration and survival in an infinite procedurally generated galaxy, coming to PS4 on August 9th in North America and August 10th in Europe, and on PC worldwide on August 12th."

I'm going to assume that this is a mistake, and what they mean is Ps4 and PC August 9th for north america, August 10th for Europe, and the rest of the world August 12th.

Sean did say the both the PC and PS4 versions would release at the same time.

I asked GOG a few days ago about why they still had "Soon" as the release date on their website and this was the response.

I've seen this mentioned in one interview and then answered by citing the same interview.... has there been any better info on the occurrence of waterfalls? That would be awesome and it's something that's missing in all the more recent footage.

Figured this is the best place but if anyone come up with some good pictures/Photoshop some stuff for a photo contest for this game PM, got time of course won't put up a thread til game is out

Depending on which theory you prescribe to, if you get within the black hole's event horizon, spend a few minutes there and then bounce back out again, when you come back out, No Man's Sky 2 may be about to come out and someone may have already made it to the center of the NMS1 galaxy.

But I don't know if Sean put spacetime formulas into the game or not.

My condolences, PC fam.

I mean "believable" the same way DICE uses "authentic" for Battlefield 1; that what you see feels true, even if it's not true to reality. When I see something, my mind tries to understand why it's doing what it's doing. I don't think the proc gen in this case was good enough to explain that to me visually. It's not a big deal, it's just one of the first times I've seen a scene in NMS and not accepted it as a cool alien landscape. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Has it been said what happens when you die? I assume you just restart from a save, but that underwater video says he lost where the underwater thing was after he drowned. Does that mean you just restart on a random or your home planet when you die?

I already asked this but the thread was moving kinda quickly and then a new video came out so I'll ask again:

Do we have any info on multiple save slots?

If I want to play, and my girlfriend wants to play her own file, can we do that or is there some workaround for multiple people to play their own save files on games that only have one on the same PS4?

If you die in space, you will respawn at a space station. If you die on a planet, then it will be at the last save point.

I heard that part of the video and cringed a bit. We already know he could have simply gone back to his location, or flipped god mode on and never died if he really cared about finding out what was there. Game promotion and all. He is a pro at it.

if it indeed does come out on August 12th on US Steam, then that is not the worse thing for me. It's my birthday. would be kinda cool.

same.

It'd be the highest order of bullshit for the platform with no certs required to get it last.

Indeed. Especially when Sean Murray himself stated pretty clearly a simultaneous PC and PS4 release. I DM'd @hellogames and @nomanssky asking for clarification but I'm not expecting a response, I'm sure I'm not the first.

Two things will happen when you die depending on the circumstances.

If you die on a planet you will respawn where your ship is landed. All discoveries unreported to the Atlas will be lost and your progress is sent back to the last time you saved.

When out in Space and you die in your spaceship you are sent to the nearest space station with a crappy starter ship and all of the cargo that was stored on your spaceship is lost.

At least this is what I understand from interviews with Sean Murray.
