Hope all this makes it into the game eventually. I'd like to see rivers and desert planets personally.

Does anyone know if those triangular shaped buildings that give you extra suit slots are on every planet or are they only on certain ones? Also if I do find one building, is the planet likely to have more of them and do they show up on the scanner as an icon?

Speaking of atlas pass. I'm not even remotely following the path nor do I take the stones and I get the anomaly quite frequently.

Finally visited today and had a choice to make but it's strange to see so many variances on it.

I am really frustrated that the game seems to map the same Atlas path for multiple players. I'm not able to discover and name everything because other players have the exact same path as me. I hope it changes up a bit.

Finally maxed out my Exo Suit and multitool today. Now I gotta make some money to upgrade my ship. 25 slots are simply not enough lol.

This game is so much fun. Love it.

I feel like a good amount of it is people who didn't buy the game shitting on it solely because of pre-release hype. It's always some "I told you so" waiting to shit on a good game because its not perfect

Never understood how people had fun shitting on a small indie dev.

I wonder what happened. It must have been causing problems. I can definitely see a lot of things come back. They've already did a lot with one patch.

There are definitely some things in that Reddit post that were probably very difficult to implement, but then there are things like the butterflies. Why was that kind of stuff taken out?

But how would that work even? The universe has been generated from an algorithm. They set everything within that algorithm and let the RNG do its thing. Big scale physical changes would surely mean a need to reset the alhorithm and, as a result, a reset to the universe as whole, making everything we did until now... well, pointless.

(For the record I am enjoying pretty much every second of the game so far, barring today's crashes even though I feel like I overpaid a bit. However, my future opinion will be influenced by the quality and monetization of future updates and the response HG have to questions like the ones presented in the reddit post)

Alot of stuff added in 1 patch. I can see their main goal first was to at least make it playable on the systems to a certain degree and then patch the game.

For a team their size and the amount of work getting a game like this stable might take more work than people think. HELL look at the PC version for example.

I am willing to give them time even when the internet wont.

They exist. I have seen them. VERY rare sight

I'm on around 24 slots for my suit and 19 slots for my multi tool. My ship however is 17 and even the crashed ones I'm finding are 16. It sucks.

Butterflies are in; saw a screenshot on reddit lol.

Me too. The game is extremely fun and I'm only on my third system. Do wish that I could bookmark planets. Don't want to leave my little Skyrim world lol.

At least a couple are wrong. Coincidentally one just posted above shows there are butterflies;
Animals/Creatures
Butterflies flying around. Doesn't seem like a big thing on its own, but it's something that adds life to an environment.
Just now in the thread;
...
nomanssky_20160816202q5u3p.png

That planet had lots of crazy wildlife. Almost everything except the Butterflies wanted to kill me though.

Animals and Plants That Eat Meat
GI - "Do the animals eat each other? SM - "Yeah, they do."
I can attest to one above that mentions animals eating others. I shot down a bird to scan it and before I could get to it, one of the big creatures on the planet ate it. I didn't save any video and I've long gone that system to try repeat but it is 100% there.

Another thing I can prove, rivers. This is my own screenshot.

Not to outdo a lot of stuff that's right, though with the Portals I think they do work but aren't easily usable, I encountered one and didn't work but I wouldn't be surprised if there's a way to make it work, we just haven't figured it out yet.

Reading through that reddit post, it seems like a lot of the changes made were intended to simplify gameplay and introduce instant satisfaction for the "average" gamer. Imagine having to jump through hundreds of systems just to find that one element to complete your blueprint.

I wish we could've had that.

With mods for the PC starting to roll out i am enjoying the game alot more.

Fast Actions might be the smallest and best for me so far. It removes the delay with selecting which was driving me crazy. much smother now going through the menus.

CHROMATIC ABERRATION + VIGNETTING + SCAN LINES REMOVAL Has also made a big difference. I get the effect are a stylistic chose, but they were giving me a headache. This helped loads and i love the look of it (on my first underwater planet :) )

I started off unsure about the game, but with the mods, getting more storage space in the ship and suit, and the story starting a little i'm really enjoying myself.

Playing the game on pc with a tainer might just make it bearable for some....

Since you can run faster and a ton of others things

Some of that stuff is in the game, albeit perhaps not in identical form to what was shown. I've landed on multiple "desert planets"; is the author just looking for a biome with sand dunes and a "dust blowing in the wind" shader effect? I've also seen people post screenshots of flying eels and bugs, so I know those things exist even if I haven't seen them. I do wish the physics model was better so we could see rivers/waterfalls, or just shoot the base of a giant element deposit and not leave a tower floating in the sky. But those are minor quibbles. As a game and tech demo I'm satisfied. Might be one of those Assassin's Creed situations, where the first game is more proof of concept and the second adjusts the formula to turn it into a masterpiece. I still feel like I'm getting my money's worth from what was delivered, even if it can't measure up to the "dinosaurs roaming verdant hills" trailer from a couple years ago.

I have seen butterflies and scanned them. Haven't gone through exactly what the reddit post saw. It was a few planets ago so I am going to have to try and find them.

Oh shit, I was playing last night thinking how awesome a mod to cut the selection delay would be. Awesome!

don't spend time doing this... there are pictures of butterflies in this thread literally one page back

lol. Thanks for saving me the time.

It's frustrating just because some people haven't seen certain things they just assume it isn't in the game. I definitely believe there were cuts, maybe even massive cuts, but there are also a lot of assumptions being made on cut content.

The good news is, we're almost at OT2! This thread is moving at a good rate too. A lot of it positive buzz.

Keep the same algo, and run a river algo on top. Or just reset the universe only for a new game.

There is a lot of stuff that has simply not been discovered yet.
I've been on a planet with 95% water. From the ocean floor to the surface it would take about a minute of swimming.
I've also seen animals attack each other and even poop out stuff if you feed them.

Can't wait to see what is a few galaxies away on a class blue planet.

Hey guys, quick question. Is there another way to get a new multi tool with more slots other than finding them on the wall in some shelters? I see people posting about how they have multi tools with upwards of 15 slots, but in my ~20 hours of gameplay I only ever seem to find ones with 6-8 slots.

So should I be following a particular path? I was following the Atlas to get the pass upgrades, but now Nada has me thinkin I should find the center of the Galaxy...

I was offered one by an NPC but I don't remember the circumstance.

Yeah, I've seen these. I think it's a bit of a stretch to call them 'rivers', but there are definiteky shallow streams in the landscape.

With that said I tried to walk through one the other day on a monsoon planet and plummeted into what was actually a narrow flooded chasm, lol. I was completely confused as to wtf was going on for a few seconds. Thought I'd fallen through the map. My friend thought it was hilarious.

I've put 50 hours into this great game, am one trophy from the platinum, and consider the game an amazing achievement.

But there is absolutely no defending Murray or Hello Games here. I don't even give Murray the benefit of the doubt - I think all of this was intentional. What convinced me was him not answering the multiplayer question on launch. Leaving that to be discovered by a data-miner here on GAF was nothing short of a disgrace. It would have taken 5 seconds to clear up. But they didn't, because the whole operation has been intentional. As the Reddit post says, they were showing massively old builds unrepresentative of the final game back in June. Come on, man. They knew.

It's at the strange point where I feel like saying 'Thanks for the great game, but I won't be doing business with you again.' Guy's reputation is in the toilet.

Reading through this thread made me realize I'm an idiot. I haven't been breaking down my upgrades when I change ships or tools.

Once I bought a ship and even forgot to transfer my inventory. I realized immediately and had to reload the game.

I suspect you only find ones within a few slots of your own, so start trading up.

It's become a personal quest onto itself to upgrade my ship via seeking out crashed ships. I went from 20 to 32 so far and want to see how far up I can get it.

I dont think people realize really how bleak the universe really is based on our knowledge. I think the reality of it isnt meshing with peoples fantasies.

If the developer dialed back the realism I bet more people would be happy.

But literally life and these perfect biomes is rare as hell. I understand that. So when someone does come across some lush ass planet its supposed to be something special.

I did the same thing today. I really can't invest into upgrades knowing that my ship isn't the best ship in the game. So i got myself into an endless loop of Transmission Tower hunting and got from 30 slots to 38!

I was having a hell of a time finding an upgraded multitool. I kept finding ones with fewer slots, until I actually accepted one of them. From then on, they all had 2 more slots than my current one.

Are there any mods to make you stealthy to the sentinels? I'd like to pick up these vortex cubes in peace instead of constantly being harassed by sentinels.
