To be fair to the critics/detractors, the game has some flaws/rough edges that are worth discussing. "Flawed gem" is the most apt term I've seen get used by some people here. It's just that critical discussion (in other threads, mostly) can't seem to remain in the realm of "fair and balanced". It almost always devolves into extreme vitriol and hyperbole.

I'll preface this by saying I really like this game. However I can't understand how it passes cert I've never known a console game crash/lock the console so frequently.

Kinda stuck with an awesome ship that I can't upgrade. Every blueprint I get says I already have it and then doesn't let me craft it. Even tossed 4 million at Polo for his tech just to see if I could power through it and none of the omega blueprints I bought from him show up. It's a sad sad day.

Doesn't look like I'm alone in experiencing that bug. Guess I could repair crashed ships but man that takes an insane amount of resources and is really a pain.

Ok wtf.
Been playing the game for just under a week now; still in my first star system and exploring planet 3 of 4.

Very happy with my findings; its a low sentinal, very cold barren place with no wildlife but tons and tons of giant gold formations - happy grinding!

So I'm flying around quite happy and spot a beacon; land, explore and go to get back into my ship and launch...nope...try again...UNEVEN TERRAIN...the ship eventually takes off but i suddenly flip onto my back and the shields start failing, critical damage, explode - i die.

Respawn next to it, try again...nope, ship flips onto its back and refuses to move...so now i have a critically damaged ship - i fix the launch engines but pulse engines need zinc. Of which I have zero of in my stores.

So off i trek around the planet, mining gold for my reserves - hoping to find some zinc plants or at the very best a shelter with access to the trading network to buy some zinc to replace my pulse engine.

2 hours later...still nothing (lots of gold)...i'm getting really annoyed now - there is NO ZINC anywhere on this planet so i seem doomed to be stranded here :(

Where are the Galactic Trading Computers generally located? I've found the beacon and manufacturing facility but they didnt have one.

Am I doomed? All because my starship decided to flip onto its back "glitch".

PS: love this game but i really want to get back into space and continue my journey.

Okay, cross posting from another thread, but maybe I'll get more responses here.

is there some kind of hack or cheat that would just fill up my inventory with every kind of resource?

I've only been following this game since release (It just didn't look that interesting to me from all the press) and I'm fairly bored, so I'd be up for just actually exploring and looking up story bits. But I am NOT going to spend hours of my life shooting rocks to collect minerals.

If there is a way to cut out the busy work of the game and just explore the environments, I might be up for that. Is there anything like that available?

So I'm on an extreme snow planet, blizzards constantly, storms every few minutes and I've just got my Sigma Thermic Protection, I find an outpose and use the terminal in the back and it contains Thermic Protection Theta, which is better than what I have! Except no, I don't get it, because the game says I already own the blueprint even though I don't and the only Thermic protection I can craft is the Sigma one. Guess I'm just going to be constantly cold forever...

Makes me wonder how many other "dupes" I've gotten that weren't really dupes but the game just wouldn't give them to me.

EDIT: Another thing, not really related, but I haaaaaate how you upgrade something but can't transfer the upgrades. Like you can't rearrange them in your inventories, you can't move them from one tool to the next, can't transfer them from ship to ship. I mean, I kind of get it, they want you to have to work for it, and get attached to things you have or whatever, but like I JUST finished getting my multitool to be better than my last one and now I find one with two more slots but I'll have to start again on the expensive upgrades so I just don't bother buying the new one.

Got a quick question...

Playing on PS4; I am in my third star system following the Atlas path and there is a distress call out in space and as I approach that area in space, there is nothing there at all. I just fly passed the marker, nothing revealed by a scan. Is there some significance to this? Do I maybe have a bug? Or perhaps I am missing some context to this entirely?

I feel like maybe that marker popped after I did something on a planet, but I can't remember.

You don't actually need Pulse Engines to launch your ship, just the Launch Thrusters. So you can take off and cruise around looking for a Shelter with a launch pad; they generally have a galactic computer access point, and it doesn't cost any fuel to launch off the pad should they not have what you need. You could also fly to the space station under impulse power, depending on how near it is to the planet; might take a little while.

So ive repaired my ship and all, but i need thaniun9... Ive been runing arround for 50 minutes now looking for that stuff i can't find any... Where can i find it or what does it look like...

That element appears in two ways:

1) A red flower you need to use, rather than destroy
2) Small asteroids circling around every planet you can easily destroy with your ship

No. I thought I did as well, but it's for your Pulse Engine, which you won't use until you're off-planet anyway. Launch Thrusters use Plutonium which you should have.

Launch Thrusters get you off the ground for a flat 25% fuel consumption each use, unless you're on a launchpad.
Flying around with normal engines or your boost jets uses no fuel at all.
Pulse Engine (press the two shoulder buttons together) only works in space and uses Thamium9.
Hyperdrive (accessed via star map) uses Warp Cells.

Try to find an outpost with a landing pad. If you craft a bypass chip you can call your ship to it, which should fix the glitch you're experiencing.

Yeah it's annoying; I honestly avoid using the higher-end blueprints I have because I don't want to have to re-grind for them. Be sure to at least break down your current upgrades before you switch multitools though, so at least you get some of the raw materials back.

Ok, I'm finally starting to implement ship upgrades now that I have a 48-slotter and it's really frustrating me. What is the optimal way to arrange the shit? I hate how some of it can't line up... I need the space to be an even split between upgrades and inventory storage but I still want everything maxed out and grouped together.

This is just baffling design.

I've been to 7 or 8 blue and green stars and, besides resources being better, the planets themselves haven't really been.

Oh...I did blow a hyperdrive going to too many green stars in a row.

Not being able to move that stuff is incredible frustrating and I don't understand it. Hopefully it gets fixed

disassemble upgrades and start over lining them up the way you want. The starting layout is never optimal... basically find a 48 slot ship and recycle everything you can recycle. (only a couple things cant be destroyed...) then go around re-customizing it with the layout you want.

Right but it still isn't possible for everything to line up nicely and be in order. For example, there's an empty column to the left of all the starting stuff if I don't use the laser thing. I could put upgrades there, but then they don't line up correctly with the other upgrades because there's nothing in the top row. Then there's the extra columns to the right that I'm not sure what to do with, and definitely won't line up with anything.

I need my upgrades to be like

1-1-1-1
2-2-2-2
etc.

under each piece of equipment in the top row.

I build Warp Engine Theta, but game doesn't let me travel to systems that requires it. Tells me that I need build Warp Engine Theta. Anyone else encountered this and what gives?

So my exosuit's jet pack is cornered off. How can I add an upgrade next to it when nothing around it can be broken down? Is this default for everyone or did I permanently screw myself when originally fixing/setting my stuff up when I first started? I forget how it was when I started.

That is how mine is as well. The strange thing is i just got a blueprint for the jetpack even though you cannot dismantle it.
