Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Launch Trailer

"You can't kill progress... if progress kills you first."

Not terribly optimistic about the story, but I'm really looking forward to playing this. Loved HR.

I never asked for this, so I went ahead and pre-ordered through Steam! Looking forward to playing this come Tuesday. I'm hoping for Deus Ex: Human Revolution +, which by all accounts is what we are going to get.

if you try to rip the world apart, someone will always put it back together.
you can kill dreams, you can kill innocents, you can kill freedom, but you can't kill progress.

I swear they still use the old stock sound effects for the sterotypical random piece of technology whirring away!

The secret love interest, deliberately kept hidden in all the marketing and promotional material so that her grand entrance in the game is a genuine surprise.

I wish.

i think she's alive

have you seen the 12 minute hr catch up video? her section is left completely ambiguous

I don't understand why in Mankind Divided the social class struggle between augs and non augs those augs are (it seems) to be poor people or low in social status. I understand how the ending of HR would contribute to a social distress and segregation but why are the augs not rich people or people in power? The whole point of Neuropozine was to control access of augmentations to rich people only, not even mentioning that mechanical prosthetics by themselves must cost a pretty penny. Am I to be believe the higher class got stripped of their wealth and power? Maybe I'm misremembering something of HR.

For all the hate someone like Hayter got for his Snake voice acting, I am surprised not more call this out. So bad and cheesy.

Game looks awesome though, will be easy to overlook.

Dat McCann soundtrack <3

Also this.

I still have very disappointed they got rid of the piss filter. That filter SCREAMS cyber punk to me.

I should be excited about this but I'm not. DX:HR was pretty good mechanically, but it fell short in the writing and nothing I've seen about this game has given me the impression that it'll be substantially better in that regard. Having Jensen again doesn't help either.

It's just not the game I want when I think about Deus Ex. I'm the old man yelling at clouds I guess.

Case in point.
Sure, he's badass.
But I'm not 13 anymore, I want to play games that are smarter than I did back then. Only I played Deus Ex when I was 13.

most of the rich people are the ones that run the world so they sit in their ivory towers untouched

I'm currently playing through Human Revolution. I assume that launch trailer have spoilers in it for those of us who haven't yet completed HR?

Looks cool. I still can't get over Jensen's voice though, it's just too muted and dramatic, like Bale's Batman or something. He's not my favorite looking protag either, if we're being honest.

Still really looking forward to the game.

I really dislike the voice too, it's incredibly melodramatic. It's pretty close to the actors real voice, which is fine, but I still think it doesn't sound good.

I recall one of the devs saying her
death in Human Revolution is canon
, but eh, who knows. I'm not holding my breath though.

i remember an interview, with jean-francois dugas and jonathan jacques-belletête i think, where they said she
didn't and you'll find out more in mk. i hope she's alive! they all responded to fans wanting her to be alive so i think she'll be in the game
.

i guess we'll find out pretty soon.

You're misremembering. Augs were commonplace throughout society in HR, some by choice and others railroaded due to industry and profession. Neuropozine monopoly indeed was used to control augmentation as the Illuminati feared unchecked augs would shift the balance of power.

I'm just finding it very unrealistic how you could bring down so many influential / rich people (not talking about litterally Illuminati members here) into ghettos so fast.

yeah but they controlled it so only the wealthy could afford them, the rest would get Darrow syndrome.

am I wrong or did it say "You can kill dreams, you can kill innocence, you can kill freedom but you can't kill progress."?

Can't Kill Progress was the project name before the game was announced, right? They had that in the ARG IIRC.

All the cool overt action Jensen is taking in the trailer and the trophies will all probably reward stealth gameplay only... Just like Human Revolution.

Biggest complaint about Human Revolution was how much emphasis pre-release the devs put on being able to play each situation how you wanted, either stealth or action or through conversation... But if you wanted all the Achievements you had no choice... Play stealth and never get caught or no 1000/1000 gamer score for you.

I hope they correct this with Mankind Divided's Achievements and Trophies lists so that you aren't hamstrung in your RPG decision making based on trophies.

Augs were commonplace. We see everybody from construction workers to police officers to street gang members to CEOs to sex workers being augmented. In Hengsha, there was a questline where you rescue a prostitute who was going to be forcibly augmented so she would fetch a higher price, and it's implied that this is becoming increasingly commonplace. Some people got augmented for its own sake, others got it for their jobs (sometimes under duress), others got them because of a disability or injury that would have otherwise left them without an arm or blind or paralyses. It's a cross section of society.
