PlayStation Now officially coming to PC

Not getting the hype around this announcement, we can't adjust any of the graphics/performance settings and then there's the latency to contend with.

Is it possible to alter the settings via mods or hacks? Otherwise I'll just stick to playing these games on my actual ps3.
This is aimed at people that never had a PS3 and would like to try out games that they may have missed aka God of war, last of us, uncharted, red dead etc...

Gaf!

This means Warhawk will be playable on PC. Let's revive this game! (Not gonna happen, but leave me to dream).

And because some of you guys don't see the point in the service, it doesn't mean there are no points. Heck, I could argue why would I pay for Netflix when I can buy everything on Bluray? PSNOW is a damn good service and playing some Infamous 2 when I'm over at my girlfriends house on a Laptop is a pretty damn good thing.

I may end up trying the service and it'll be a "let's see" situation, but I don't think I'll ever want to play an online FPS with the additional latency added from streaming. I'd rather buy the games on a service like steam, download and play them locally. And I have an amazing internet connection, can't imagine if you have an average one.

And the netflix comparison is absurd for obvious reasons, namely latency doesn't effect netflix viewing from moment to moment.

Is there any point in getting the wireless adapter if your PC already has Bluetooth?

(Although mine doesn't, thanks to Windows 10.)

Because Netflix streams at 4k and I'm assuming PSNow streams at 720p with low framerate and input lag.

I don't get it, what do they mean by God of war, Uncharted etc on PC? Do they mean PC ports or streaming? What if I don't own a PS4 how does this work?

Streaming.

And no, you don't need a PS4.

It's a paid subscription model to be able to play games streamed from the cloud.

Awesome, didn't have a PS3 so hopefully it will come to Portugal eventually. Also the USB adapter is pretty cool. Will it allow other PC games to be played with the DS4?

Netflix comparison isn't absurd in the slightest. One is a service to stream games and the other is a service to stream Movies / TV etc. Netflix can be hit with buffering if your Internet acts up (albeit Netflix is awesome, but it happens to some people).

You talk about PSNOWs input lag is some game killer, but Ive played through Infamous 2 and Festival of Blood, and it hasn't given me a single issue. It isn't some extreme level of lag that makes the game unplayable.

And to that guy saying Netflix streams in 4k... erm okay? Not sure what point you're making with that. With PS Now I can control the character on screen? Is a that a rebuttal to that? I'm not even sure.

I haven't bought a console since my first PC build in 2011. This is incredible news especially since they mentioned Journey. I've been dying to play that game for years.

It's just way too good being a PC gamer nowadays, man.

Hope this means iOS/Android and Android TV release are not far behind. Those will be the primary platforms for NOW once SIE solves the DS4 compatibility issues.

Everything about this usb adapter keeps saying "compatible applications". I really hope that doesn't mean only remote play and ps now.

Every input is delayed by your connection to the service. The signal going to the service and the signal in response from the service. That isn't even slightly comparable to buffering, which is just a momentary interruption. Because on PSnow you're getting that delay every single moment. The two issues aren't even comparable.

And I am not arguing that that lag makes the game unplayable. But I'll probably never want to experience an online FPS that way. So you hit forward and it tells the PSnow server that then signals the game server which then responds to the PSnow server which then signals your PC that you've moved forward. There is an extra several steps in games that are about timing... seems very very bad tbh. And as I said, if I do try the service, I'll have to see if this is how it turns out but I expect it will.

I've tried streaming games online before with an older service, that service doesn't exist any longer (AFAIK, I forget the exact one).

"I don't know how to use it and no one on twitter took the time explaining to me how to set it up so I don't care"

To be honest, if it works as effortlessly as an Xbox 360 controller with the official adaptor I'm quite likely to get it even if it means less customizability. I've had a variety of annoying issues with DS4Windows that I'd rather not have to deal with at all.

So does that mean we get an official Windows driver then?

they probably want to sell an adapter instead?

Why not just release drivers that makes the DS4 work directly on the PC instead of selling hardware? That would make PSNow an easier service to sell.

Feels like the same mistake Sony made with the Vita and expensive as hell memory cards

In this situation it is comparable. You don't get buffering at all with downloaded movies and shows and on Netflix you can. My point is that it can be an inferior experience and even when you get hit with spikes when the picture quality degrades. Just like PSNOW is inferior to playing the actual game, Netflix is inferior to watching the actual damn show / movie.

Anyway, you brush it off as "it's just buffering". I brush it off as "it's just the slightest bit of input lag". You're making it out to be some sort of massive game killer, but I have been finishing top during games of Uncharted 3. I damn sure hope you play on great monitor if input lag is such a killer for you.

This is pretty cool I tried the trial service worked really good for me. I have no interest in playing ps3 games It's good for people that do.

I would be interested in this if you could actually buy games and download them in full.

Streaming with a subscription is like renting.

It's not good value.

Hopefully there will come a day when PS Now has PS4 games.

The only 2 must have games on the PS4 for me are Uncharted 4 and The Last Guardian… :(

I called it... Hell I called it when I first bought my GTX 670 like 4 years ago.

Soon everything will on PC

You might be joking with this statement, but consoles will disappear and all you'll have are digital platforms that can be accessed from multiple devices rather than being locked into proprietary hardware.

People scoff at the idea, but it will happen.

How long has remote play been available on PC? Just tried it on my laptop and even though it's 720p max, it's awesome for The Witcher doing mundane tasks while girlfriend is hogging the TV! Had no idea this was possible until this thread.

Since April this year, works amazingly well and better than the PSTV itself!

if you already own a PS3 game digitally, do you need to pay for it again to play it on PC via PS Now or can you access it for free?

I doubt this will ever come to Australia and that's why i invested in a Ps3 and bought all the games i missed out on. I hate living in a country that has some of the worst internet imaginable..
