NVIDIA Updates to GeForce Expereince 3.0 - New UI and Features

Doesn't look like you need to sign in. You can just bring up the overlay where the shadowplay/share function with Alt-Z.

Seems nice that I can record in borderless windowed without capturing desktop.

Aside from the "auto optimization" feature for game graphics settings, is there any reason I should use GFE? I'm genuinely curious. I've had bad experiences in the past with this software regarding it's error-prone behavior and I personally like setting all my game settings manually.

Does clean installing a driver work well with it? I've been doing the whole DDU routine with each new driver release, and am not entirely sure that it's necessary.

it is for the shadowplay, ultimayelly everyone uses their own settings. Don' know if Ansel is also a feature that requires GFE.

Why specifically Steam? Is there some integration going on?

Gamestream uses Steam, might be because of that.

I'm more interested in the GeForce Control Panel than the Experience Hub.

Why do I have to keep re-enabling windowed and fullscreen G-sync after every update?

Hmm the beta had some issues, namely sometimes the shortcuts just wouldn't work for no reason when trying to capture footage. Hopefully that's been ironed out. I had to revert back to the old one because of that.

dont use nvidia betas ever ever ever

Ugh, I decided to update and just get it over with. It runs you through a process where it tries to scan your games. I aborted it, but it got a few before it failed. Even after I removed all the folders to search it was still finding games. I went and deleted the files it uses in appdata and edited the xml to turn off auto scan. I absolutely do not want it knowing where any of my games are because I don't want it touching them. After all that it no longer knows I have any games. A waste of 30 minutes of my life. You should be able to opt out of that.

Add me to the list of people who had their old GeForce Experience un-installed by the installer for this version, only to crash and not recover. I ended up going and downloading the executable for the new version from the site to fix it.

Seems fine so far... I don't like that you absolutely have to log-in to do anything in this version, but there seem to be more options when it comes to optimization.

Can someone explain the Shadowplay for me? I know it was in old versions but never bothered using it... I can use it to capture gameplay video, right? But only in 20 minute chunks or something?

So, I'm not sure if it's with all games, but it probably is.

The Nvidia Experience 3.0 breaks the ability to press Alt-F2 to save in the Descent port dxx-rebirth.

I didn't bind Alt-F2 to any NV Experience functions. Just shutting down the application didn't solve the issue. Had to completely uninstall it.

Might be worth testing it in more games, but I can't think of another one that needs Alt-F2 and can't rebind. But, basically it's breaking stuff.

(funny thing is Alt-F3 works fine)

Finally GeForce Experience can let me update the video driver from my local account on Windows without needing to login as an Administrator.

It's just me or I can't change any settings at all of Shadowplay from the Geforce Experience?

I refuse to believe this fucking shit went through a beta and was still released in this state.

I think I'll continue to NOT install it.
I find GeForce Experience and the equivalent AMD (Gaming Evolved) to be bloatware tbh.

The only reason I ever use Geforce Experience is for Shadowplay, which I do use sometimes. If I didn't need GE for it, I'd never use it.

Anybody has a good link for the older version? I uninstalled this crap, worst piece of software I've seen in ages. How they thought bringing it out beta in this state is mind boggling.

I reported that months ago in the beta for this and there was a big thread about it on the geforce forums and they still don't fix it and roll it out anyway...

There are a few recording options.

Save the last 5, 10, 15, or 20 minutes (you have to pre select one of these options).

Or you can manually record at any one moment you want and stop whenever you want.

Is GeForce Experience actually worth using now if you have a powerful rig?

I remember the program got shit on when it first came out and I always disable it when I update drivers but if it's gotten much better I might give it a try.

I hope imrpovement for their gamestream co-op is in the work, the idea is good but in it's current form too limited. Moonlight is an improvement ( thought maybe not when it comes to latency ? ), but even that would be so much better if it wasn't limited to 2 device at a time.

I'd say it's mostly usefull for Share ( shadowplay, stream, gameshare coop ). Other than that not really.

not licensed in your state
I only use it to remind me when new drivers are released. Beyond that, I don't think it's at all useful

Aside from starting up faster, its a downgrade and a complete mess. Avoid as hard as possible if you record stuff.

Worst thing about this version is that the keyboard commands are absolutely buried in the options tab. I had forgotten what they were and it took me forever to find them.

Some other questions:

  • What is "instant replay" and how does it work? It appears to be different than the record last 5 minutes and start/stop record features. There is zero explanation in this hyper minimalist version.
  • Is there a way to completely shut off Shadowplay, like you could under the old version? It seems like not, and that the last 5 minutes of game play are always being recorded. Or am I wrong?

The update informed me that it couldn't update while Steam was running, so I closed Steam, proceeded with the update, it crashed and basically uninstalled itself.

I'm okay with that.

its been terrible for me so far. Had long account creation delay and now the system wont find my games. It gets frozen trying to do so...

Instant replay = Shadowplay as in background recording and it works exactly like it did before so yes you can customise like you did before to pre-record up to 20 minutes.

Yes you can turn of shadowplay. Click the icon next to the settings button. Click on instant replay and you have the option to switch it off.

Instant replay is the usual record the last x minute of gameplay, if you go in it's option you can choose the duration ( from 30 sec to 20min, the resolution, fps, etc.. ).

I don't think you can disable Share ( or it's well hidden since the UI is a mess ), but you can disable instant replay when you click on it.

I already uninstalled the new version, but I'm pretty sure I had to download the exe manually too.
Thanks!

Oh great. Now when I try to run the old version it prompts me to update. Cancelling quits the program and I can't use it. Just. fucking. great.

I remember trying out the beta a while ago and saw that they moved all the shadowplay settings in the overlay rather than the app itself. Is this still case (or am I misremembering?)
