I enjoyed the persistent plot, though I kept feeling like the anti-extremism was mostly co-opted into anti-sjw rhetoric. Plus, the season finale was weak. Maybe it's due to not doing as much story continuity, but hopefully it picks up well this season.

it was

still a funny season, but tons of firewood for people who wanted to interpret it as anti-sjw

IMO there was a swerve at the end when PC Principal was framed as a good guy after all. The message got tempered to be about insincere people using "social justice" to bully others and get points, but social justice itself not being bad.

And I'm interested to see where the Member Berries are going since it looks to be heading in the direction of jabbing at people nostalgic for times when things were horrible for anybody who wasn't white, straight, and male.

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
I feel someone should make a topic about that new show, it's like 20000 levels of bad. Probably the lowest Comedy Central has gone.

I don't think there's any question the Member Berries are representative of nostalgia "for better times" as a sedating drug for those exact things. It's genius.

The Member Berries were initially a vaguely amusing commentary on nostalgia, which took a genuinely unexpected turn when they suddenly became a much sharper critique of the underside of yearning for the "good old days".

Arc storytelling really feels like it has given this show a new shot of energy.

Memberberries is a cute nod to The Chris Farley Show on SNL back in the early 90s. Sit, stand or kneel during anthem was funny. The rest was garbage. Sick of this anti-SJW shit and Trey Parker working 2 sides of every topic as usual. It's old, choose a side... grow a pair of balls on your vagina and show your personal opinion already. Douche and Turd... got it.

What about this episode was anti-SJW? It's a stretch to read the Cartman stuff that way (which is mostly an extended tease for the idea that he's secretly behind it). If anything, the people protesting actual issues (Wendy and the other girls) are taken seriously.

He's not totally wrong, sometimes I feel like they go out of their way to work both sides in a way that ultimately ends up saying nothing

That's definitely a weakness of their satire at times, but I didn't see anything like that in this particular episode, at least not in respect of social issues; you could maybe say that about the revived "douche vs. turd" stuff, but the actual presidential satire was almost exclusively focused on the Trump substitute even then.

Douche v Turd is probably going to be a "member berries" thing too.

South Park was great when it had standalone episodes. The continuity sucks and I feel the show is too much geared towards an American audience (as in USA) whilst other seasons could be appreciated by a lot of cultures. In short I think the show is going downhill.
