Quantum Break appears on Steam's Top Sellers list at #3

Update (08/10/2016 @ 17:56 AWST): The game came in at #7 on Valve's list of global top sellers for the week, which is updated every Sunday, and SteamSpy estimates that it has sold ~35k thus far at full price. While ~35k certainly seems low, there are no WinStore sales figures to compare against -- or any at all, in fact (that the game "exceeded what [Microsoft] expected it to do" is rather meaningless without actual data) -- and I think it's safe to say that, at the very least, the costs involved with Remedy creating a DX11 renderer across three months have been recouped (not that this was required for a release on Steam, to be clear).

...and will presumably climb. (Note: Steam orders Top Sellers by revenue rather than units sold.)

Shocking news: WinStore exclusivity hinders success.

Well put it on a platform people like and it will sell, who could ever predict something like this?

I had to do a fresh install of Windows to get Forza Horizon 3 to function properly. It really is a steaming pile of shit.

I'm glad Remedy gets to make some money on an established service.

Ok? It just released.

The PC version released alongside the X1 version back in early April. The intent here is to highlight the fact that interest in the Steam version is very high even though the game has been available on the PC for more or less half a year, which points to strong disinterest in the WinStore.

Somewhat related, what are the chances of Forza Horizon 3 coming to Steam? Low I'd imagine, and probably will be missing the cross-play feature...but damn, fuck Windows Store exclusivity.

I think any AAA game is interested on Steam. It would happen the same if Blizzard or EA games are released now on Steam. I suppose only difference is that EA and Blizzard are happy with their sales.

I think Microsoft will release its paid titles on Steam in due time but will leave its F2P catalogue as WinStore-exclusive unless the userbases are in dire need of a shot in the arm.

I believe any game made before 1997 is "essentially cave man art."
max settings should be future proof and require hardware that isn't feasible for years.
Uh no. Why should devs spend time for settings that can't be achieved for years when 99% of their sales are front loaded within the first couple of months? Ultra should be aimed at what the top cards available at that time are capable of.

This also doesn't include people who buy it from third-party sites, so that's pretty good it's climbed to #2 global spot so quickly.

>I add since I bought it from GMG personally.

How do you know? We don't have Winstore numbers or chart for comparison.

Because it's #2 on the global Top Sellers list and two spaces ahead of one of the most consistently top-selling games on Steam. I didn't say the game wasn't a success 'til now; I said it's more successful, which it demonstrably is.

First it was Xbox exclusivity; now it's Windows Store exclusivity. People will never be happy :D

You think Microsoft, who publicly stated Quantum Break will be WinStore exclusive and will not come to Steam at all, would publish the game on Steam if the WinStore numbers were anything in range of decent?

ETA on Steam ver outselling Windows Store ver?

Unless the refunds hit the game badly, it should have already outgrossed the WinStore version.
