Because all they had to do to be able to use Death was equip the Ring of the Lucii.
You have a point though with there being a whole section, I wonder if there are other powerful rings that we could use?
It kind of makes sense that Lucis' ring can only cast death, with Insomnia being reaper-themed and all, so I wonder if other kingdoms have other rings with powers similarly tied to their general theme...
For how the Ascension grid looked before (half empty for every character) i suspected it would have expanded when you obtained the Lucii Ring, granting access to Royal Magic for Noctis and Kingsglaive abilities for the party.
Now that they changed it, i don't know anymore.
But yeah, no way Death is the only Royal Magic.
Famitsu hinted there was more ring magic, Death was just one example. Also, so much for that 4chan leaker being right on everything.
Why, what did he say?
Anything to confirm that the footage was actually from an X1 and not a pc using an xbox controller?

Hell yeah. FF hasn't been introducing new stuff for a long time. Some new spells would be nice.https://forum.finalfantasyxv.com/discussion/2744/final-fantasy-xv-ring-magic-footage/p2
Shuya: "Just in case that some of you missed the information from last week, other ring magics have been confirmed other than Death. There will also be a handful of ring magic that are unique to FFXV, while also including some classic spells like Death."
Do we know if the entire video we've seen today was in this region? I'm not sure if we knew the name already, but seems like Lestallum is in Cleigne if this is proven true.

That bandersnatch is sweet. Makes me think of the chort from Witcher 3.

i don't think i like it anymore
It's more in line with the darker tone/original vision of versus13 imo.
Well...it's death. LolPSY・S;218857592 said:the contrast between the spell and the environment makes it feel even darker than that. it makes noctis seem evil.

I don't think they cut it out, but they possibly toned it down.Wasn't Insomnia supposed to represent death at one point, but Tabata cut it out because some countries got offended

I think the story will take a dark turn somewhere. They've just been focusing on the happy road trip theme.

While i obviously think serious stuff will happen, i doubt it will be anywhere near as dark as it could have been given the source material. I mean they still have you fighting robot soldiers perpetually after all, i don't think they will be skewing things that far.

yeah the design was very Witcher 3 esque, looking forward to play it, shut off the music and start playing ONE AT A TIME! ONE AT A TI-E-UM
And Uncharted has you fighting hundreds of human beings. Red Dead deals with actual mature subject matter but has you kill hundreds of humans as well. How does this play into if it's "dark" or not? Especially when we all know these guys would be fodder enemies no matter what?
Eh? I'm just saying its not gonna be a slaughter house. This game is rated T for Teen, so they have to have limitations somewhere, they arent gonna go Type 0 on us in regards to some twist where things go really sour out of nowhere
Cleigne seems to be west of Lestallum
Do you guys think the bottom map will be all the open world of XV?
Maybe the other areas you only get to visit them as hubs accessed via a 'cutscene' driven travel sequence (Altissia will probably fit this description).
They can if the ESRB stuff is anything to go by. I'm just saying robot enemies is a weird thing to make a point on if a game is dark or not. We've seen this stuff not matter at all.
