In July, we announced a release date for Gravity Rush 2 that we felt most appropriate for the title. Since then, though production is proceeding smoothly, the landscape for that release date has changed dramatically.

Gravity Rush 2 is the conclusion of Kat’s journey, so we want players to have enough time to dive deep into her story. In addition, as a lot of work went into online features that allow for asynchronous player interaction, we want as many people as possible playing the title at the same time. Thus, after careful deliberation, we have decided to change the release date. Gravity Rush 2 will now launch on January 20, 2017.

I would like to apologize to all those players anxiously awaiting Gravity Rush 2. After four years of development making a title we are very proud of, we want to release it at the very best time.

In exchange for the longer wait, we have decided to release the premium DLC planned for the title free of charge. This additional story will take place in the world of Gravity Rush 2 and we think fans will have a lot of fun playing through it.

As we move into the holiday season and the New Year, we have many more exciting things in store, including more information about the title and the special animated feature. Please keep an eye out for more on Gravity Rush 2, and thank you again for all your support.

I kinda see this as a good thing. Way too much stuff coming out this year (PSVR, PS4 PRO, TLG, FFXV, etc) and it would have drowned in all of that.

Wasn't it coming out around the same time as Last Guardian?

I don't think this is going to help at all.

I mean, now it's up next to RE7 and another niche japan title in yakuza zero.

Expected, they didnt want it to be crushed by the holiday season. Still sad though.

Is this a sequel where people are hoping that it delivers on the promising concept of the first game or is the first game good in it's own right? Been thinking of picking it up.

Nice. I had a lot of fun wth the first games dlc. I hope the main game has a lot of side missions like that and the dlc is another character

I'm really starting to think all these rpgs/Japan centric titles are moving the hell out if ff's way lol.

Ah well more time in the oven plus free dlc who can complain.. unfortunately that's 4 days before my most hyped release of 2017(so far).

Alright, guess I'm picking this up on January 24th.

Going to play KH 0.2 first, then KHx Back Cover, Gravity Rush 2, then Dream Drop Distance HD.

Shame, was hoping to get GR2 for Christmas but now I don't have to stress about balancing FFXV and GR2

I think it's a smart move and I'm okay with it. I wasn't even able to put it in my budget because of TLG and FFXV being released one top of it. Now I'll for sure get it day 1.

Nice to see Sony has not completely lost their minds. Releasing Gravity Rush 2 that close to FFXV and The Last Guardian was suicide. Now make it a PS4 Plus game for December in the West.

I don't think this is going to help at all.

This is a MUCH better date.

This is good news for me. I was having to cancel my pre-order because of its original date and everything coming around that date. Now I can pick up everything! Also cool to hear about the DLC!

curse you FFXV

I don't think FFXV caused this delay. It's pretty clear that TLG did. Both GR2 and TLG are mid-range AA titles from Sony Japan which will live and die by word of mouth and player curiosity. They're not games with huge marketing efforts for the mainstream. As such, putting them too close to each other is not a great idea. FFXV doesn't even factor into this.
