I think it's fine that Street Fighter incorporates stereotypes in their characters, but having the a spear-using character be black is a little insensitive.

Capcom's character design team is just that type of oblivious.
Having taught Japanese children, I can tell you that they have no frame of reference for this sort of thing. They are never taught that it is hurtful. I think Capcom's character designs are an extension of this.
That being said, I am sorta torn on that design. Personally, I think the spear throw is simultaneously cool and slightly offensive.
In my case there was a stopgap with Alex (my main nowadays). I think I will continue playing Alex until I hit a wall where I need to start training or I get bored. He's so much fun, though!
I just left the GAF-FGC server. I'm not okay with casual homophobic slurs being used.
I'll just keep coming here if we don't get something else set up.

Sagat is not part of shadowlaw and might have a completely different playstyle in this game and how many pure zoners do we have besides guile?
And please tell me, what In the world was boring about infiltration or Tokido's Akuma?? The mixup was insane! Highly entertaining.

They won't change the playstyle of characters like Sagat and Akuma too much, I feel like I have a good grasp on how they could be like in this game.
I give you this, though: there are really only two shotos in this game so far and they play in a completly different way, so I wouldn't mind it from that point of view.

I hope they launch Season 2 with a brand new character available as soon as they announce it. I am convinced we will get Sagat in season 2, but I have a feeling Akuma may not be announced for SFV until after Tekken 7 launches.
I would love to have Abel back in the game (my old main) then the last 3 would be Dudley, Sakura, and C. Viper. I am not really excited about any of the Dolls, but I would not be surprised if one or two snuck in

yea especially in V-trigger, it's really easy to cross up and combo with, Ken in V-trigger is one of the strongest aggression in the game along with Chun and Ryu. High damage potential. Cammy is no slouch either though for damage. I'm guessing Akuma would need a more drastic change of formula tbh, since Ken and Ryu both have v-triggers that make up for their weaknesses, to combine both of their play styles into one character without him being better than Chun would be difficult IMO.

I feel like Ken is suppose to replace Akuma in V but is missing the Air Fireball and not made out of paper.
I can see Akuma having his Demon Flip as his V-Skill, loosing his teleport and V-Trigger being Shin Akuma with the ability to do jump forward fireball.

He's basically lying. I can remember like one time anybody ever used one and it wasn't in relation to a person. And I'm basically in there 24/7. I even asked around and nobody else remembers slurs being used either unless it's in reference to CountBlack not being able to block to try to bait him into international lag lobbies. The chat is actually really tame. Furthermore, this is the first time I've ever read anybody complain about that because it's been such a non-issue.
There are other chats that are a lot less forgiving for people who can't handle being offended on the internet, but the fgcgaf discord isn't one of them. Hell, there are people that left those chats because fcggaf is so much tamer and welcoming.

Yea they would have to change up the formula somewhat though. There's only so much variation of the shoto you can do.

All have the same DP inputs, they need to make it varied if they are gonna all make it in. I think it makes sense for Sakura and Sagat to play the most differently, but Gat is tried and true zoner, so who knows. Story wise, it's a good time for him to play nothing like his former version and Sakura gets further and further away from Classic shoto with each game.

I got outclassed by some guy's Ryu when I was a Cammy. The guy was a brick wall. I only snatched one round because I overwhelmed him by attacking from every angle but he eventually figured that out and destroyed me....

Also he wasn't disparaging gay people, he's annoyed by people constantly being offended by everything so he deliberately uses offensive words in impersonal ways when he gets annoyed. I think Akuma is a great character to save for the third season for all the reasons you listed. I would love if he didn't make it at all, but I appreciate how popular he is. Hopefully they can do something interesting with him...

I don't think electric would be unique because it's something that Gouken and Ryu already do. I'm not sure what they could do since Bison has purple evil goop and Ken has fire.
None of them have all three, though, so maybe he could do that to show his mastery over their style.
Ryu already is the electric guy here I think. Akuma would just have purple fungus stuff again.
Of course this is Capcom, so who knows what their plan is.

Ryu has electricity, but Akuma would have PURPLE electricity. Yuge difference.
More like -2 on block. A character in SFV needs to have Tatsu pressure akin to Akuma in 3rd Strike. It looks awesome and is sorely missed by me.
Maybe his V-Trigger would focus on his Tatsus and make them a devastating pressure tool? Imagine a V-Trigger that gives him like 3 Tatsu's (similar to how Cammy's work) that are actually PLUS on block? Mmmmm...
