Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience Announced (GZ + NAIN STORY + DLC) 10/11

What do you mean? Popsicle is the Konami PR, he confirmed both here and on the official Twitter, so I'm sure the source is reliable on this.
His wording was "it -should- work," "it -should- be on one disk," etc. Just enough to not feel completely concrete, like he wasn't sure. So I just want to hear it firsthand from GAF.

He already stated he was referring to the UK version but he later clarified all versions come with all contents on disc.

Nice, thanks a lot, a friend is looking to get MGSV, at this point he'll just wait one month so he can get the full package. Any info about how DLCs are handled? Are they on disc too (so you don't need to redeem stuff on PSN/Live? Not that is too important, it's just a curiosity of mine).

Also important question: will PC owners of TPP+GZ+all dlcs get the new version for free, considering there are dlcs never released?

Perfect. I can sell GZ now.

I would hang that on the wall... If the game was good. Anything about V just reminds me of the insane amounts of booze I had to consume to see the story (and just the story, on a longplay).

This may be the first time I double-dip on a game for the same system. I just need to fully confirm it's all on one disk (TPP + GZ + DLC), and fully confirm that it works with my existing saves for both games. I'll wait for GAF's confirmation first. I know Konami's Twitter rep has confirmed it, but I'll still wait for GAF to verify.

I should note, the DLC will be all new to me (I really want the different costumes), and the box art is amazing. :-O
I'm sort of in the same boat. Although I do have the Day One Edition DLC, I don't have the costume pack or CE DLC. And I already double dipped with GZ. I'm thinking I should just get a PSN card and purchase the remaining DLC.

Only reason I'm thinking of getting the DE is because of the ease of switching from GZ to TPP from one disc.

I was going to buy this but decided to check out the prices on amazon. Bought both for 45$ with free two day shipping. I feel like I made the right choice as none of the dlc's seem necessary.

Really excited for the neo-version of this game since its releasing in october. Will perhaps even be my first game on neo! Let the Fox Engine do some magic

What are you talking about?
The Definitive is not the Neo version, and don't expect a Neo patch, because the game is already 1080p/60 fps.
Anyway, is there any news regarding a free upgrade (or not) for current PC users?

Im talking about that it Will be released in october and sony have officially said that all games released in october are mandatory to have a neo version.

The game is not locked 60fps

I was hoping for GZ to inherit TPP's control and slight mechanics changes at the very least, so there's not a lot here for me since I own both games on Steam already. Ah well!

It will still likely run at locked 60fps on Neo though. Games that dip on OG PS4 will automatically dip less on Neo, no patch needed. They won't look any better, but they'll run better.

Sorry, but I never heard of it. Can you link the source? But it's better to close the OT here.

Never heard such a thing, I think he is just speculation. You need to patch the game to bring improvements.

For making the framerate more stable? I doubt it. The Neo is going to be a better machine so it should run the games better without a patch as long as the framerate isn't being capped.

Obviously they're different consoles but look at the original Xbox One and the Xbox One S, the S has slightly better hardware and although it isn't a massive boost there are some games that run at slightly better framerates without a patch.

I would imagine the patches would be more for enabling other graphics options or upping the resoultion. So as an example with MGSV a neo patch could improve the texture filtering, draw distance, shadows so it looks closer to the PC version when maxed out.

They are never going to get the MGSV DLCs discounted anytime on PSN. That is why they are preparing the Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience Announced: Either you buy the DLCs full priced or buy the full games again.

Until they say it officially then people might want to dial back their expectations. If it's mode based then maybe there's no evidence to suggest in vanilla PS4 mode that games will get access to any of that extra power right?

All dlcs should be like 18€, excluding the skins for SP it makes sense buying them on PSN, they are multiplayer only, no need to have them on disc, when MGO will go down they will be useless anyway. Also MGO is pretty much dead already.

See, told you the game would benefit from "neo", this is how hardware works, the console is a pc with Another name and shape

Ok, I trust you :)
I never heard of it and since there were thousand rumors about the Neo, I didn't really know what I should believe.

I'm still not 100% convinced but we'll see.

10 days from the release and:

-there's not a single trailer promoting the collection (not that is needed, but usually GOTY come with a trailer featuring the included contents)
-no words about the fact there will be DLCs you need to redeem (like, I know you will get MB coins from the Amazon's description of the product, I think you will need to redeem that)
-no words about the fact players on PC will get the new version for free (if they own every piece of content released) or an upgrade option.

big msg fan played all of them except for phantom pain. Just finished GZ I'm going to jump into Phantom Pain today i was just wondering can someone please tell me what side-ops are necessary for the story I just want to do the things that are necessary for the full story no extra stuff! A quick reply would be much appreciated thanks.

Side Ops that are plot important are coloured yellow, and a few of those important side ops lead directly into main missions.
However, the way the game is designed (I.e. a big grind), you're pretty much expected to at least do some of the optional side ops. You have to play through some during the second half of the game to unlock missions, like how Peace Walker's final chapter worked with the 'do a few side ops, do a Zadornov search mission' structure.

I'd recommend taking your time through it though, because even with just going through the story it's a stupidly long game, so it's not like you're gonna be able to blow through it over a weekend.

If just playing for the main story then the game really isn't much of a grind, the only non-story side ops you really need to do are later in the game to make time pass in the game world for the story to progress and that's about it. You can easily finish the game with minimal tools.

Yup. It's easy to burn out on, so sup it like the fine wine it is.

If you want to get the most content out of the game with as few optional missions as possible I would suggest doing the
"Find the Mother Base soldiers."
for some of those optional side ops. They'll lead into some cutscenes eventually.
