I've never heard this complaint before. Mind extrapolating?
I'm not the person you quoted but I had issues with comic Michonne. In the books, Michonne sleeps with, or attempts to sleep with, every black man she meets. I was fine at first with comic spoilers that don't matter to the show at all so far
Tyrese and Morgan. But she hit on the guy in Alexandria who turned her down, can't remember if he was gay or just taken or both. I quit the comics completely when it looked like she was going to hook up with Ezekiel. It was pretty gross. Michonne can be only attracted to black men and that's fine, but Kirkman wrote her to be attracted to and to throw herself at every black man she saw, including Tyrese who she knew was in a relationship with Carol. No other character gets this treatment.

I thought a tiger would be too over the top for the show and they're doing it

And the show is already teasing the Whisperers for this season. Check their instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/BLkLKpxA4dF/
Probably just going to hint at them like they built up the Wolves

I don't necessarily expect the departures to be in terms of
the villains, but more so in the state of the surviving members of the crew and their state. I can't imagine them doing a time jump and portraying Rick like that on the show. I actually think the show will be able to portray the Whisperers quite well.

Not to mention
Carol, who was already in a very fragile state, caught Michonne giving Tyrese a blowjob and subsequently committed suicide by zombie.

Hmm, I hadn't really noticed that. That is odd, now that you mention it...

On another note, am I the only one who finds the time this show is aired very irresponsible?

And on the same note, the show doesnt allow the use of the "f" word and wont display nudity, but its totally fine portraying violence the way it does? What kind of fucking logic is this?
Irresponsible? That's ridiculous. I have a young daughter and aside from hearing us speak about planning to watch the show she has never encountered a second of TWD content.

To many people want TV raising their kids. Monitor the content they consume and there is no issue.

So anyone going as Glenn for Halloween?

On another level, Daryl fucked up really bad, and as such, I could see the idea of Daryl's death being softened to a lot of fans. While I can definitely see people upset to see Daryl go, but by establishing him as someone who is causing trouble for others, it makes him a valid target for death. It is a more successful death situation than Andrea, whose death was celebrated, not mourned, because she was an annoying nuisance.

Daryl has to kill the guy with his crossbow. Then probably succumb to his vengeance, which Glenn warned him about before they were captured, which doubly made him guilty for Glenn's death. That was clearly Daryl's "choice" moment.

I wish Daryl was in the comic, wish he had a more integral role but limits to which extent he could be involved in the series main conflict.

I'm sorry if it's been suggested before, I read a dozen or so pages filled when you guys were live-watching and posting, but I haven't had time to read the rest. But I'm thinking it wouldn't have been a much bigger mindfuck if AMC had killed of Abraham in last season's finale, then start this season with the death of Glenn.

Yeah it's been mentioned several times and it seems to be a more favorable result than what we ended up getting. I would've been fine with that. I was thinking about how splitting the episodes really fucked up the whole flow of the scene. It's been 7 months since we've spent time with these characters and really digested their last moments on the show. Putting such a big gap in the middle of the most tense scene the show has scene to date kind of weakened the effect that moment should have had. Imagine the last scene from season 6 and the full Negan sequence from season 1 combined. That would have been a stressful 30 minutes lol.

A part of me would have preferred if Abe was killed last season but I can't really think of how that would have worked for the premier. Glenn was killed pretty quickly after Abe and the 20 minutes or so at the beginning of the episode helped get me back into that feeling of dread that I had during the finale. I'm sure it could have worked similarly to what they ended up doing though so maybe I'm just not looking at it right.

On the other hand, the 20 minutes at the beginning was sort of wasted on me since I was still irritated that I didn't know who died yet (not really since I am not above spoilers so I did know) and I didn't get as into what was happening between Rick and Negan as much as I should have. Thinking that Abe was the only victim and then being shocked when Glenn gets killed in season 7 might have allowed me to enjoy the entire episode more.

Why does he wear the mask!?
Would've been much better if Abe died in the finale, then they did Glenn in the opener, as nobody would've expected it.

yall are overthinking it--the finale was perfect, had everyone shook to the point where they damn sure weren't about to miss the premier

and those premier numbers destroyed the NFL

'Walking Dead’ Season 7 Debut Up 34% Internationally

Continuing on its ratings streak, the Season 7 shocker debut of The Walking Dead saw a 34% ratings growth internationally, marking the highest-rated launch in international distributor Fox Networks’ history. The opener’s growth was measured across 28 markets in Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America where performance metrics were available overnight.

This year’s premiere was 37% higher than its equivalent Season 6 episode in Europe. It over-performed this year’s Fox channel primetime average eight-fold and saw huge growth in key markets such as Italy (+78%), UK (+59%) and Netherlands (+35%). The UK debut drew 1.43 million viewers.

Across six Asia-Pacific markets where data was available at the time, this year’s premiere audience grew by 25% compared to its equivalent season 6 epsiode. Key markets were up such as Singapore (+14%), Malaysia (+13%) and The Philippines (+57%) and ranked Fox as the top English payTV channel for the timeslot.

Performance in Latin America, where Fox launched The Walking Dead on a premium pay service simultaneously with the U.S. broadcast, was up an average of 17% across premium and basic pay when compared to Season 6’s “First Time Again” episode. Brazil was up a whopping 94%, marking Fox’s highest rating in the territory in the last six year while Mexico was up 359% versus channel slot average.

Yikes at the ratings. I think this is only going to encourage them to keep pulling those cliffhanger tricks.

“A lot of the responses [to the season 6 cliffhanger] were like, ‘Ah, these jerks trying to pull one over on us,’ and it’s like, ‘No. It’s all done in an effort to keep you entertained,'” Robert Kirkman said. “I think as a creative person I have to acknowledge that all responses are valid, so I definitely have to take note that there’s a seemingly significant portion of the audience that wasn’t happy with that direction.”

“So in that respect, I think everyone on ‘The Walking Dead’ creative team has taken note of that, and I don’t know that I would expect a similar cliffhanger at the end of season 7,” he added. “We love the fan base, we love the audience and so if you didn’t like this one, you’ll like the next one.”

What a ridiculous response from Kirkman. No.. that's part of the problem. The entertainment should come from engaging characters and their interactions with each other. Not from gimmicky cliffhangers. In the comic,
there wasn't a two issue "guess who" game with months of time in between.. it was just something that straight up happened. Surprises can be good if done right. There was no nonsense, just good writing and a great, heartbreaking surprise for fans.

They milked the shit out of this for ratings and buzz. Just like the dumpster.

I'm glad we're finally past this "who is it" BS though so we can focus on Negan and what comes from all this.

I still think their handling of the cliffhanger both in the finale and the première were incredibly lame and in no way led to a better told story. They should just be honest and say it's an increasingly expensive show and they couldn't very well afford to ignore the extra ad revenue.

With that said, imagine the finale without the fuckery that ended after the beat downs with Negan dragging Rick into the RV.

That was an amazing watch. Even better than the episode. Some A-class editing went into that reaction compilation.

Gotta remember that Tara isn't even back at Alexandria. She's went out on that 2 week run with Heath. After Rick and the group took out the savior outpost.
Tara's gonna need therapy once she gets back and finds out both her girlfriend and the guy who brought her into the group are both dead.

Other than tara and the priest is their anyone notable left back in alexandria? Other than ricks group most of the alexandria people are forgettable.
This is who's left from the Alexandria locals who welcomed Rick and his crew into their little town with open arms...

We have Aaron and his boyfriend Eric. They had Daryl over for spaghetti dinner one time. Eric used to be a recruiter as well until Daryl took over his gig full-time.

117

Olivia keeps watch over the pantry and the armory. She likes to organize things.

117

Tobin ran the construction crew until Abe took over. I guess he's got that job back now if he wants it. He had a fling with Carol before she went AWOL because her own shadow freaked her out.

117
117

Bruce and Francine are also part of the construction crew. Abe saved Francine's life when they got swarmed by walkers and Tobin bailed to save his own skin.

117

Carl's girlfriend, Enid. She likes to wander off and eat turtle.

117

Heath went off on a run with Tara before the Negan shit hit the fan.

117

Scott was part of Heath's supply runner crew until he got hurt when the walker horde descended upon the city.

117

Spencer's parents used to run Alexandria before Rick and company showed up and got them killed. Now he spends his spare time brooding, acting cocky and trying to save the day in as many foolish ways as possible.

117

This is Mikey. His Dad was a dipshit named Nicholas who blew his brains out atop Glenn's favorite dumpster.

These people also like to loiter around Alexandria. We assume they're residents but who really knows. They could just be waiting around to get autographs.

All of this controversy about Glen's death made me realize something.

MAJOR COMIC SPOILERINOS:

If they actually do Lydia making out with the eye hole on the show... there's gonna be some real fucking outrage. For some reason I can see that being more controversial and grossing people out more than Glen's death lol

looking forward to it! :)

Where is Gabriel and where is Rick's kid? I can't remember.
Gabriel and Judy are holed up in Alexandria as well. I didn't mention them because they weren't original residents.
Now that Abe and Glenn are dead, Morgan is gone and Daryl is captured, I'm looking forward to Gabriel's continued evolution into bad ass preacher/executioner.
Because we all know Eugene isn't going in that direction.

This is really really...something.

You can talk about tricks, you can talk about how unfair and shitty it was to leave on a cliffhanger, you can say you're done with this show. But any piece of media that can make people react that strongly does hold value.

That premiere made me feel pretty dirty, too, but that's the point. Not everything has to make you feel good, because human nature is made up of a spectrum of emotions and we need to feel them all.

This is legitimately better than some TWD episodes. (Looking at you, Daryl and Beth episode).

My fiancée and I were grossed out and a little bummed but I don't think we were 1/10th as devastated as these people. They're straight up crying lol. I know some people exaggerate a little bit when they're being filmed or livestreamed but some of those reactions are convincingly authentic. That woman on the couch calling Negan a pussy is out of her mind hahaha.

I've been swarmed with work and personal stuff so I can't post that much anymore over TV-GAF. I just wanted to say that last week's episode was easily the best since the pilot. Sure, I grinded my teeth at two of my favourite characters getting offed like that like most of the thread, but then again the show couldn't have gotten away if they offed some of the lesser ones. Glen and Abraham's deaths had a huge impact and helped to remember the audience that plot armour is a bizarre construct that doesn't really exist in this show (bar Rick, for obvious reasons). JDM was also expectedly amazing as Negan.

Anyway, I'm glad the show is back in such a strong form. Even sweeter, this is the part where I stopped reading the comics, so it's all new for me from now on.

This episode was one of the very few times in my entire life, where I've actually felt something in my stomach during the episode.

Negan is a violently good badass. He really broke Rick. I'm looking forward to this season!

Most of these reactions are probably faked to get views on yt but still it sends shills down your spine when watching it.

I guess thats the entertaining purpose

A compilation is passable and somewhat entertaining, but my question is who watches those reaction streams live. o_O

watching things in a group setting where others are crying and shit always makes it easier for you to react that way as opposed to when you're alone or maybe with one other person.

So gud.

Really was the most perfectly constructed episode in terms of what it set out to do.

I usually find reaction video super fake and forced, but after seeing how my mom reacted to the death scenes, I'm inclined to believe many of those were real. My mom will let out a little scream during a horror movie or jump scare, it kind of makes watching scary movies as a family hilarious, but I've never seen her react the way she did to Glen's death. Literally jumped up from the sofa and let out big long half scream/half nooo, hands clenched,
