That's exactly how my email sounded too. Now I'm not sure if should just pocket the $80 or buy the headset lol.

I was definitely one of the first to cash in, I got my phone a day early somehow.

I'm guessing the rebate card will only work at the Google Store or something to make sure it is used for the headset.

Has anybody tested whether the Pixel can cast to your smart tv natively? I was able to send pictures/video/etc to my tv fine with my Galaxy Note 2 but cannot with my Nexus 6. I had to download AllCast in order to do this on my Nexus 6 which is kind of lame.

It will only work if your TV has inbuilt Chromecast. It doesn't support any other casting protocols.

According to the website where you redeem the free Daydream preorder offer, it's a prepaid Visa. I don't think it's possible to restrict those to certain stores.

1 day, 3 hours on my Pixel XL, and still 18% battery remaining. Only 3 hours, 20 minutes of SOT, though, so I'm not sure how you people are getting so much more.

OTOH, just found out I can scan additional fingers for the fingerprint scanner. This continues to change everything!

Still super happy with the phone.

I've had my XL for a week now and I've simply astounded by how great it's been. There has been a very noticeable upgrade compared to my 6P in terms of both performance and battery life. I can go most of the day (16 hours) without charging with moderate use and still have 25ish percent when it's time for bed (stream all my music, chrome, facebook, some youtubing/twitch here and there).

The phone is still new so it's hard to say if these levels will persist over time but damn, this thing is impressive. I'm definitely looking forward to the next model which is bound to include even more bells and whistles.

Yeah, the phone is significantly better than the 6P in all ways except speaker quality and not offering 64GB

My contract is due to renewal in 5 days and I still can't decide what to do.

Have gone from Nexus 5 to Nexus 6 and just assumed I'd get the next one, so when Pixel was announced thought that would be my next phone.

But it's the price..... going to be paying about £10 / £15 more per month and not really sure if it's worth it. Everything I see about the phone makes it look "fine" but nothing mind blowing.

So Gaf, re-assure me.... is it worth it?

It's not like you have another option if you are looking for stock android. From everything I've gathered, it wasn't made to be mind blowing. It's more made in an iPhone type " just works " design. But it has very high specs so it's going to be the ultimate stock android phone. There are a few features I'd like to have seen, and I'm still on the fence between this and the 7 +, but it's a great phone I think, if a little overpriced imo.

This is my first full day using the Pixel XL and I have a few questions.

How do I rearrange the notification toggles (wife or airplane mode etc)?

How do I make it so that sound only comes out of one earbud?

I'm sure I'll think of more as time goes on.

Pull down the Notification Bar twice, and you'll see a pencil icon. That'll let you move icons around, add, and remove them.

I don't think I've ever seen this on any of my Android phones.

In the Settings -> Accessibility is a mono toggle, but I don't know if that does what you want.

Thanks, in the accessibility settings on the S7 there was a slider and you could move it so that when you are only wearing one earbud the sound wouldn't come out of both, I think mono just mixes the channels.

Moved away from Verizon in favor of Cricket about a year ago for price. Mostly very happy, but now seeing the 20% off deals on Verizon for this phone...argh!

Hoping to see some deals on the unlocked phone maybe early next year. I really want a Pixel XL but I really really don't want to spend $750+. Nexus 6 for another while longer, I suppose!

Why does it intermittently ask for your pin when you unlock with your finger print?

It only does it if it's your first try after a reboot or you used a gesture/app to turn the screen off. It's not a secure OFF for Google, so they want your PIN again.
The only way to do it that I know of is with the Nova Launcher.

To rearrange, pull down on your top motivation bar twice until you see on the top right corner the profile image, a pen and the setting icon. Select the pen, then you can rearrange from there.

Does Best Buy not carry the 128GB models? I don't see them on their site. They're offering a $100 gift card with a Verizon installment plan, which is the best deal I'm aware of.

seems like i can get a pixel for $350...looks like that's the phone i'm gonna go with

i could get the lg v20 for $350 too, but the pixel seems like a much better android experience, and all the extra stuff that lg offers is stuff i would never really use that much anyway, with the exception of the DAC, but i mostly use bluetooth headphones these days anyway

It shouldn't?

The only time I have to enter my pin when using fingerprint scanner is after a reboot.

Mind did it. I rarely turn my phone off or reboot but it did it this morning. It's like it recognizes my finger but forces me to type my pin in.

My 5X randomly asks for my pattern even when it recognizes my finger print. It seems to be based on movement without being turned awakened but it seems pretty random.

So prior to my Pixel I had my S5 for the longest and had initiated 2 step verification for gmail login.

Now that I switched phones, I downloaded the authenticator app but its asking me to set up the account over again.

The app is asking me to scan a barcord or enter a code manually.

Both of which I don't have. Any thoughts/help?

Been almost a week with this phone and I must say it's the best large phone I have ever used. I have had a Lumia 1520, iPhone 6, iPhone 6s plus and Galaxy S7 edge in the last couple of years so I feel my flagship game is on point. The speed, Google integration and VR performance are what really shine in comparison to the Samsung. The camera is great but not so different than the other flagships. The design is super bland even if clean, but I'm not a flashy person in general so nbd. I can't wait to try out daydream, the vr performance in cardboard is so much better than galaxy.

You can't transfer 2FA between devices with the authenticator, you have to set it up from scratch. So go into your google account on another device, find the 2FA settings, and get that QR to scan. Hopefully you still have your S5 around in order to get into your account if it's presently not logged into elsewhere, or you copied those recovery codes you get when you first set 2FA up.

Authy has multi-device support and cloud backup.

Go to your browser on a computer that's already been verified, and go to the Authenticator app or 2FA page in Google:

https://www.google.com/landing/2step/

When you login to that using a verified device, itll give you a barcade to take a photo of and you can use the Google Authenticator app on your new phone to do that.

I had to do that too.
If you don't have another trusted device there, you can try to use your old phone and use it over WiFi to do the same.

All these glowing reviews are making it really hard to resist getting this as I just recently got a 5x 2 months ago.

That's why I always turn 2fa off if I ever have to setup a new phone or reset mine just makes it a bit easier and sure you won't get locked out.

Yeah Authy is the shit though get that for most of your authentication needs.

Are you guys seeing big advertising around for this phone? I'm in London and it's pretty much everywhere: billboards, carrier stores and newspapers; but I also heard that commercials in the States aired a lot during the World Series...

Multiple commercials every Sunday during football in the states, which is as big as you can get for major advertising.

Sadly one of tbose ads is the stupid Verizon pixel on a train ad where the girl uses VR on a train, which would immediately induce vomiting.

I'm still having notification issues. If the phone is idle for too long, no push notifications come through for either of my Gmail accounts. Notifications don't pop until I unlock the phone, sometimes I have to manually refresh the Gmail app. I've disabled battery optimization for that app to no avail.

I am considering returning the phone, which sucks, because I like most things about it. I just can't have this be an ongoing struggle. I'm not manually checking my email all day.

you just need to disable the doze/optimization for important apps.

edit: saw you disabled optimization, weird
