For once I agree with Ben Kuchera.
...It's too bad they're forcefully telling me to do something with my own money. So fuck off.
Has there been any word on PS4Pro improvements?
Both Dishonored and Dark Messiah are fantastic. I'll be astonished if Arkane manages to bungle this game.
Still not preordering though. I'd rather wait a few days for reviews than get stuck paying full price for a mediocre game.
Reminds me that I still need to play Brigmore Witches DLC before jumping into this. After the lackluster Deus Ex sequel, I am looking forward to Arkane's take on this genre again.

You're in for a treat. Some of the best missions in the game imo. If the upward arc from the main game to to the DLC continues into the second I'm expecting to be blown away.
Is the OT going up tomorrow?
GMG has codes going out now.
Pre-ordered!
I really hope no one listens to Polygon and people just do what they want. Poor polygon not getting review codes early due to a Bethesda policy. Hopefully Bethesda decides to not send them any codes at all for D2 and future games.

Uh, what? I mean, sure, do what you want, but Polygon has a point here.
It's not just them being cry-babies. This is bad for the entire industry. If given the choice between no pre-release review and a pre-release review, which would you take? More informed consumers are good for gaming, bad for publishers who might want to try and sell a bad product.
I'm not saying Dishonored 2 will be bad (it'll probably be great), but come on, think about it.
I don't like the policy but obviously Bethesda knows more than we do. It must have shown so far that their games perform better at release with this sort of review embargo. I don't think they would do this to potentially hurt their sales. Apparently it does more good than harm.
Also, everyone has a choice in the matter if they want to preorder or not. I guess a similar thing could be said about Polygon making an article telling people to not preorder. It's kind of lame that a smaller IP gets shit on by Polygon, but they didn't do the same for DooM. I do think that Polygon worshipers will take their advice, which will likely stop a few initial sales.
Please let that be true.
It's really unfortunate that there are so many of you cannot remove Polygon from the substance here and are defending a practice that in no way benefits the consumer, you.I don't like the policy but obviously Bethesda knows more than we do. DOOM was the start of all this bullshit being pulled by Bethesda and has nothing to do with that irrelevant video. Please let that be true.
And it'll probably be great! But this practice is designed to keep consumers blind in the long run and it's only a matter of time till they start using it to pull off shady shit.But... it's dishonored...

Realistically, the reason this was probably implemented is Fallout 4, which had real performance issues that publications made very apparent. This new practice will hide those issues. Happy preordering!
But whatever, it's Polygon, lets buy dog shit because we can't accept good advice from a company that hurt our feelings.
So the game releases here in Australia in 6 hours, Do reviews drop then too?
When you think about it, this is the perfect time to implement this practice because the games are turning out well, but for how long? Whatever though, it's Polygon, lets roll the dice and buy possible dog shit because we can't accept good advice from an outlet that hurt our feelings at some point.

Isn't it out on the 11th which is Friday here?
I'm gonna post some impressions of the first hour or so at midnight Australian time (exactly 2.5 hours from this post). Will make a new thread.
You agree with him but you take issue with his message?!
Why not read it as a suggestion rather than an instruction?
Can this be VPN'd to unlock earlier, Australian or New Zealand time?
Only reason I pre-ordered is because I got it for £25 on GMG.
anyways im excited to pick up my pre-order tomorrow
suck it polygon
Why do people care what other people spend their money on or when they want to spend it?
Well, in the case of this particular game, I think people can be confident in its quality.I love how this thread backfired, lol.
Now it's the Dishonored 2 pre-order hype thread.
that's How I feel. Bombcast did a section on this letter from Bethesda as well. And it'll probably be great! But this practice is designed to keep consumers blind in the long run and it's only a matter of time till they start using it to pull off shady shit.
