They're both found on Ula'Ula Island... so Island 3. Level 28 is the lowest-level you can find. Just grab an extra Vulpix and swap it with your friend when you both get there.

But it's an owl. Owls can fly.
Not quite Belly Drum (+4 instead of +6) but this thing is going to be a huge threat if you can't prevent it from setting up. It doesn't have like -500 speed like your standard Gen VII so it can actually outspeed walls at +2. Really feels like they tried harder at making the older Pokemon more viable better than the gen VII Pokemon @_@.

No, no abilities are banned in VGC.
They were thinking of Moody, which was (is?) banned by Smogon in (some of?) their metagames.
So many Pokedex entries talk about high speeds for slow Pokemon. Escavalier from B/W comes to mind. They should probably stop that trend.

You guys really shouldnt worry about exclusive pokemon. Just have to offer a trade for their exclusive counterpart and the trade is usually made within 5 minutes. That was the case in XY, and unless they changed trading to where you cant ask for which pokemon you want, then it will be the same thing in SM.
After that its all about breeding. There is also websites out there such as Azurilland that allows you to be more precise with trades.

I see a lot of people focusing on Vikavolt's slow speed, but it has 145 SpA and accesst to Zap Cannon which not only has 120 BP but it also paralyzes the target. Add in that it has immunity to ground type pokemon
Maybe there is an offensive Eviolite?
Vikavolt is going to be torn apart in VGC
Not particularly suited to doubles and its slow as molasses

It could be that the speed stat tells how good the Pokemon is at flash stepping.
Perhaps Vikavolt and Escavalier can move fast, but they need time to speed up; like a car going from 0 to 60. Which isn't very useful in the middle of battle.

Wtf were they thinking, this is so strange. Gen 7 mons will get torn apart in competitive for the most part.
Zap Cannon only has 50% accuracy though. Unless you're comfortable dedicating your Z-move to it.

Leech Life getting boosted to 80 power is such a boon for some Pokemon.
I'm already working on a Golisopod set using Leech Life and Liquidate; this thing is going to absolutely kill it with the right teammates.

They care about VGC, not Smogon rules. That being said, quite a few of these new Pokemon will be notable in the Smogon metagame.
That is good. Being so weak was a relic of the early games with bug type moves being underpowered. And I love my HP recovery moves.
It's the terrible turning radius that does it.

A lot of kids are going to be buying this game, there might be a patch but it is not going to be a speed upgrade for the Alola mons

Worse, it doesn't seem that there are many mons that can use Trick Room in the Alolan Dex either.
