Lately I've been on that new 2 Chainz mixtape nonstop. Those chirp adlibs keep me laughing because he sounds exactly like a bird haha

So i really like the new A Tribe Called Quest track. They're a group who i'm only aware of their legacy though, never really diving into their discography. I'd really like to change that. For anyone familiar, is there a good jumping on point, something easy to get into before moving into deeper cuts?

Their first three albums are generally considered classic hip hop records but I'd start with the second, The Low End Theory.

Yeah, start with The Low End Theory. Their first album is amazing, but is definitely "out there" compared to the next couple of albums.

Tribe's whole discography is great IMO. Beat, Rhymes, and Life and The Love Movement aren't appreciated enough.

they consistently have one of the best discographies in hip hop. And somehow, 18 years later, the latest release only added to that.

Like damn, Wu Tang don dropped how many flabby albums in that time span? You let ya new york niggas Tribe do you like this???

I've got 5 or so good listens into Tribe's new album, and each time I find something new that makes it even more enjoyable than the last time. Can't wait for that vinyl to drop.

I honestly put that in the same breath as Low End Theory and Midnight Marauders.

This album definitely not on that level, but its amazing we got something so good from them after so long. Something that sounds sonically progressive, but its clearly their sound, their kind of lyrics and flow, subject matter and song structure, etc. Even jarobi ol washed ass kills this shit. Its my favorite rap album of the year, clearly.

I find it to be their most playful album, and to this day the personality and atmosphere, there's nothing like it. Even somewhat throwaway songs like Mr. Muhammad are great.

I also can't hate a song that talks about the hazards of high Cholesterol. Eat your meat in moderation, people!

I'm a little surprised people were talking shit about Kendrick's verse on Conrad Tokyo. Great verse and fits the song perfectly.

Friend, I urge you to reconsider.

Both records took their time to really click for me, but once they did, they were the only things I could listen to for a week. If we were going solely by plays to determine top 10 albums of the year, "Blonde" would be number one with "Endless" a close second. They're so good. Frankly speaking, they're the only albums this years that could even compete with "Blackstar" for my AOTY.

I really don't think so, but 90 percent of the world seems to agree with you so I'll just concede that I'm the odd man out. I don't Blonde has a song quite as good as Slide on Me.

Both of them have pretty distinct highs from: "Endless" has Slide on Me, At Your Best, U-N-I-T-Y, Rushes / Rushes Too, and Alabama. "Blonde" has the run of "Nikes", "Blonde", "Pink and White", "Siegfried", "Solo (Reprise)", Pretty Sweet, Godspeed, and Nights.

Their highs are so damn high, and Frank really made something truly special. If 2016 is known as the year American life did the swan dive, it'll at least be remembered well due to Frank, Bowie, and whomever else.

nah Endless IS better for sure. Blonde has this frustrating problem of stumbling onto greatness for like 30 seconds at a time.
